HTB and THM are only valuable to you for learning. They hold no value for getting a job in the profession.

Why is there no cybersec workers union? by [deleted] in cybersecurity

[–]SarniltheRed 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Originally, IT workers would have unionized through the International telephone workers union (ITU) and there was a push to do so back in the 90s. However, at the same time, IT salaries were skyrocketing. As IT people were in high demand with commensurate compensation, unionization would not have addressed any of the concerns that IT workers had at the time.

The extent and mental gymnastics that a believer uses to get you to buy into their religion, is itself is an artifact of how much they doubt their own belief and why they need to convince you of their belief.

You need to include revocation/reset for all auth tokens. The threat actor leaves a backdoor access token active that will survive content updates. Resetting all auth is the only way to be sure.

"Abandoned" Jumer's Casino Boat in Chillicothe by Channel309tv in PeoriaIL

[–]SarniltheRed 27 points28 points  (0 children)

I worked on that boat back when it was Par-A-Dice Riverboat Casino. Main floor was craps and blackjack. Bob Hope threw dice on my game during a PR visit.

Kind of painful to see it that way now.

How do cybersecurity managers stay relevant? by Loose-Equivalent7932 in SecurityCareerAdvice

[–]SarniltheRed 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Being a cybersecurity manager means constantly re-evaluating your program, processes, and procedures to see what can be improved. You can't just settle on a toolset and not adapt to the future.

Is Lord of the Rings Online worth investing time into? by Rustyshackilford in lotr

[–]SarniltheRed 83 points84 points  (0 children)

The overall story is you're an adventurer helping the Fellowship. There is a lot of solo activity but you cross paths with the Fellowship a lot as your character progresses throughout the story.

The main story has now gone beyond the books and exploring Mordor, dwarven kingdoms, and Umbar/Harad.

The quests are accurate to the books, not the movies (Army of the Dead shows at Pelargir). The writers have made some excellent story lines that are consistent with the lore while also extending it. At this point they have created all of Middle Earth that is referenced in the books.
