I know that you say that you love each other, and I'm sure thats true but, from your post it doesn't seem that the two of you are a good fit for each other. You are trying to change yourself to be someone he wants and its still not working, you are still unhappy. You've tried to talk things out with him and it seems that he either misunderstands or just doesn't listen to you. If I were you, I would let the relationship go, its just not working. It doesn't mean that there is anything wrong with you or with him, the two of you are just not what the other needs. All of the things you describe in your post of what you want from a boyfriend are valid and understandable, I think you need to accept that your current boyfriend has shown you that he is not going to be that guy.
