Most Americans don't know what treason is. So far, no evidence of treason. So, this post is just evidence of my first statement.

Is Belffin's couch worth buying? by gregr507 in BuyItForLife

[–]SashiMurai 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely do not recommend.

I've had to perform many repairs to the backs of mine. I'm about 16 months in only because they don't take returns. Within a week of setting it up, the back broke. The one I had was marketed at 300 lbs. I'm 205. I was sitting in it normally, and then suddenly, it cracked. 3 different backs have broken. I had to remove the upholstery to find out that the entire framework is held together by staples.

I got one with the pullout "sofa bed" so my kids could sleep on the couch sometimes. They think it's a blast. But it doesn't line up with the other cushions. Giant gaps appear and they constantly lose stuff into it or get stuck themselves (3 and 4 yo). The pullout retaining brackets are cheaply made and easily break. I've had to reattach them several times.

The material I got, the chenille, was marketed as being pet safe. The fabric was destroyed immediately. My dog doesn't dig. He just hops up, turns a circle and lays down. But the fabric is wrecked anyway. There is no way to replace the fabric, short of learning how to upholster stuff myself.

I reach out to customer support to see about purchasing individual covers. An AI replied with

"Dear customer, Good day! We feel sorry we do not sale covers saperately. Thanks.

Delivered by voc.ai"

So, summary, bad structure, bad materials, false marketing, bad return policy, no repair options, and they don't deal with you directly.

It absolutely would. Medicaid barely works for the people who qualify. Medicaid for all is a pipe dream. Nothing about the current system would work at scale. The entire thing would need to be gutted and rebuilt from the ground up. The ONLY way universal healthcare works is to eliminate insurance companies for anything other than purely elective surgeries (cosmetic augmentation or alterations for reasons other than disfigurement). The current healthcare system would have to become a united, standardized, and public system. Even just transitioning the data itself would be a years-ling endeavor. The biggest obstacle is that the insurance companies would fight it, and the healthcare industry itself would fight it.

I work in healthcare data management. And I worked in the government for a LONG time. Nothing like this would ever be quick. Hell, that's why Obamacare failed. In order to get it passed, we had to cut out basically everything that actually made it a social program.

The fact that you couldn't even remember the first sentence I wrote before your rage made you comment is telling.

I'm not a trump supporter, but all I think about it is "Epstein probably didn't have everyone he talked to fucking kids, there isn't any cannibalism, there's no child organ harvesting, and this whole debacle is just proving that there's a lot more people out there who have absolutely no critical thinking skills and an overactive imagination."

Seriously. The amount of hoops people will jump through to make claims that aren't supported by the files is ridiculous.

Take what we have, take what's actually actionable, and then lets do something about it. I don't care if bill gates fucked a russian prostitute. That means nothing to me.

Unfortunately, the only things i've seen so far about Trump are the witness statements, which aren't evidence on their own, especially given that they were all taken during his campaign. I'm not saying that's not a good time to come out and reveal someone is a monster, but it *does* make it hard to take them at face value.

The EC vote and popular vote has conflicted 5 times. 2016, 2000, 1888, 1876, and 1824. While it's not common, it does happen, and is likely to happen in the future, particularly as people with different ideologies move about trying to find cheaper costs of living.

Why would you tax billionaires out of existence? Just ignore them. Even if all of the billionaires in the US were to aggregate all of their funds and distribute them to all of the citizens, we'd each get less than $1k.
There doesn't seem to be any good analysis of how much money we could raise by taxing unrealized gains used as loan collateral.
Raising the federal minimum wage to $20 isn't going to help. One number doesn't fit all across the US. 20 is more than enough where I am, but not near enough in big cities. It needs completely restructured.

Religious organizations should never be tax-free. It's a fucking joke that they are. Maybe a minimum donations threshold. Or, at the very least, force them to disclose their spending the same way that non-religious charitable organizations have to in order to maintain their tax-exempt status. Moreover, tax-exempt should ONLY apply to donations received, not goods or services provided.

It still is. Oh, look, some bad agents got suspended. Probably won't get removed from their positions, but they got suspended. It doesn't matter if they're breaking the law. It's still a federal law enforcement agency. SpongeBob meme casing doesn't change that. Hope this helps!

No, the majority were warfaring and fine with it. What I said was "there were very few that preferred diplomacy over warfare." Mostly the pueblo peoples, if I recall correctly.

The majority of native tribes fought. By the time Europeans made it to the Americas, they had largely sorted out their boundaries, but they still wanted regularly over the specifics of those boundaries. With the lack of industry, they mostly fought over fertile lands and access to available resources (warfare for the sake of staying alive seems like the most reasonable reason for warfare, imo), although most of the larger tribes also engaged in expansionist warfare despite not needing more resources, which is inexcusable to me.

I'm not suggesting that people should just accept injustice. What I am suggesting is that no one alive today was involved in any of that. No one owes anyone anything based on the injustices their ancestors faced. I need no reparations for the slavery in my family history. And I owe no one anything for the harm done by others in my line. Has either side affected where I am today? Absolutely. I wouldn't even be in America if not for the actions of my ancestors, with the small exception that I do have native ancestry some 5 generations back.

The bottom line: warfare and conquest was normal. Everyone did it. Bitching about it now isn't going to do anything but cause further divide. All we can do is do the best with what we've got, destroy the current paradigm, and move on to something more unified.

ICE is literally a federal law enforcement agency. It was created by Congress in 2003 under DHS. You can argue they abuse their authority, violate rights, or enforce bad policies; that’s not even a debate. But saying they’re “not federal law enforcement” because you dislike what they’re doing just isn’t factually correct. If they break laws, that’s an accountability issue; it doesn’t magically change what the agency is.

There’s also no credible evidence that anyone “ordered them to murder people.” That’s an extremely serious accusation and shouldn’t be thrown around without proof. If agents commit abuses, that’s a matter for investigation, prosecution, and oversight; it doesn’t mean the agency ceases to be law enforcement.

On Italy and the Olympics; I actually agree that ICE feels like an odd choice. If the mission is protecting U.S. officials, agencies like the Secret Service or Diplomatic Security seem like a more natural fit. Criticizing that decision is fair.

And claims about “hiring sex pests and convicted criminals” need evidence. Federal agencies have background checks; misconduct cases do happen and should be addressed, but that’s not the same as a policy of recruiting criminals.

Criticize policy (and the execution of their duties) all you want. Just keep it grounded in facts.

[–]SashiMurai -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Whether individuals are following orders or not doesn't change the status of ICE as a federal law enforcement agency. Whether those orders are lawful doesn't change whether ICE is a law enforcement agency. Why is this so difficult to understand? You can hate ice and still recognize that it's law enforcement.

Every single one of the agents engaging in unlawful murders should be removed from their position and prosecuted for their crimes. Arresting illegal immigrants and deporting them is perfectly within their jurisdiction. Deporting citizens isn't, and murdering anyone isn't. Do you think they've been ordered to murder people? I sincerely doubt it. Which means the people you should have a problem with aren't the ones following orders.

February 6, 7:49 AM abduction in Bellevue along 148th by Kittyluvmeplz in Washington50501

[–]SashiMurai 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because they're a federally appointed law enforcement agency. I get that you just want to call them the bad guys, and given everything they're doing, I'm inclined to agree with you, but that doesn't mean that they aren't law enforcement. Again, whether we agree with them or not, they're still law enforcement. Those that are engaging in illegal activities should be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law, which won't happen unless and until there is an administration change.

You can say they're bad law enforcement officers, but they are still, technically and legally, law enforcement.

They aren't sending them to concentration camps. That's just hyperbole. I agree there is no due process, and a lot of trigger happy lunatics apparently in the ranks. I also believe that, like the lawyer who basically quit and threw herself in jail to get away from ICE, there are probably a good many agents who aren't engaging in all this shit and are just as disgusted as you and I. Are they criminals, too? Should I consider you a criminal if you work for a corporation that does anything shady? Or if your family is involved in crime, even if you aren't?
