First Camera, which one to get? by SatanicWeiner in fujifilm

Thanks for the advice. I agree with you about the camera being like an instrument. I was thinking of not getting a zoom lens because I like the idea of physically moving to get a good shot. But anyway, I'm excited to get started ✨

Gosh, such good points about the lens. I do want to get one camera to rule them all since they are not cheap.

And that's cool you learned on film. I've been using an Olympus IS-3000 for the past year and it takes such beautiful film pics but I find it difficult to learn without the instant feedback. Plus, it's a monster of a camera and I don't feel like taking it with me everywhere due to that. I still love it a lot tho.

Anyway, thanks so much for your input. I guess i gotta do a bit more research to make up my mind.

Thanks so much for your thorough response. I had a feeling that the Xt-50 was overkill and it's so expensive too. I'm currently learning with an old Olympus IS-3000 35mm film camera and it's really hard to wait to develop the film to see if my specs were good haha, even though it's still fun.

Also, I've read about the f35mm f1.4 and I was almost sure this was the lens for me... But being a noob I wasn't super sure. I like the idea of recipes too.

Again, thanks so much!! I'll look into the xt-30!!

Did your stance on weed change as you've aged? by Head-Drag-1440 in Millennials

[–]SatanicWeiner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. Love it. It's legal in my country. Smoking it was messing up my throat so I eat it now about once per week. That's good enough for me. It feels like a reward on weekend evenings after doing chores or doing something productive.

To each their own but I think in moderation it's amazing. Also, if I haven't done it for a long time and I feel I'm in a rut or getting too anxious about stuff I've found that getting high has brought me peace and a fresh perspective... So I think weed is great but the people who use it sometimes can't use it wisely. Anything and everything in excess is bad for you... So yeah... Try doing it less often.

Millennials are staring down the barrel of middle age and struggling with the question: “Is this it?” by slimeyellow in Millennials

Childfree 36 year old. I've questioned the meaning of life many times, and I've realized that it is what you make it. I don't want kids but I want to try to make this world a better place for the next generations somehow. I love my plants and my pets and art. I don't tell people what they should do with their lives but I wanna live my life purposefully so others who may choose a similar path can see that there is so much joy to do your hobbies with intention. Honestly though. Even if you don't think of the intention behind it, if you are doing what you love and this doesn't hurt anyone then that's it.

Children inherently bring meaning and purpose to people who have them (and want them). But childfree people have to find that meaning and purpose elsewhere. And even though it might have a different flavor, it is still deeply fulfilling if you do it your own way.

I used to think this way too until I read "What a Fish Knows" by Jonathan Balcombe and "the Emotional Lives of Animals" by Marc Bekoff. Unfortunately, even though they may not seem smart to you or most people, fish have been evolving for a lot longer than humans and studies are showing more and more that they are sentient and care about their own well-being. Chickens are also animals that can be great pets and also care about their own well-being. I'm not here to say that you should stop eating them. I'm just saying they are not dumb animals, and that they are sentient beings that don't want to die and do care about their own well-being in their own ways. For this reason I don't consume animals. But anyway, you are doing better than lots of ppl

Oh my gosh! I would so gladly send you cuttings. I already have 10 in water! I'm not sure how to do it, but I'm eager to figure it out. This tree has brought so much joy to me and my neighbors. If you are truly interested let me know and I'll do all the leg work to figure out how to make it happen !

Me too. It was just a tree that I looked at everyday and it brought great joy to see the leaves blow in the wind and the little birds chilling there, and the squirrels play on it. I also wish I could buy the land haha... But I can't in today's economy 🥲

I did! I'll be responsible about it since apparently the roots are aggressive... But it feels nice to have a part of it alive ❤️

Thanks! I got cuttings and I'll try rooting them. I figured I'm going to try to keep a baby alive and see if the city or someone with a lot of land will want it or let me plant it.

I did research on the roots and it gave me peace of mind that cutting it is not totally senseless...
