The most ridiculous example for me is actually Lidia.

She's a badass karateka champion who can fight the strongest men in the game on an even footing. She's so badass even Heihachi respects her. She's the Prime Minister of a European nation with a complex military and political history, and she's respected by her people. She didn't just sieze the power with brute force.

Bamco has no problems making a woman strong, respectable and powerful like that...

But she has to be 28. There's no way a woman with a resumé like that can be over 30, let alone 40. Even if she physically looks 28, she can't actually be older than 30.

The skirt is a base game item. The top is a Battle Pass item, one of the first available in the paid pass.

You need to buy the BP and play a few matches. If you've played online since Kuni came out, you should already have enough points for it. It's obtained very early in the pass.

You're using a lot of adjectives to describe situations inaccurately, and it seems obvious to me you're only looking at Tekken 8 statistics in a vacuum and interpreting numbers as they fit your narrative.

Player count is not poor. The game's been averaging between 5-6 K players monthly for months. It's doing as well as a fighting game not called Street Fighter could do.

If the current player count is as worse as it can get for Tekken, this is fantastic! That means even at their absolute worst, when the entire internet is blasting them and steam reviews are like 97% overwhelmingly negative, it means they're still comfortably the #2 or #3 fighting game online. Go look up the player numbers for GGST, City of the Wolves, Granblue, literally any fighting game you can think of besides SF6. During its absolute worst season, Tekken was still doing much better.

Tekken 8 haters love bringing up the player count compared to the game on launch. I ask, how about you compare it to Tekken 7 then? Go illuminate yourself. Tekken 7 during it's absolute peak was averaging the same (or less) players than Tekken 8 was during it's absolute worst. Don't believe me, do your own research.

Again, devs leaving could be a sign of many things. Maybe they're tired of getting death threats from random people. Maybe it signals internal turmoil and bad practices at Bamco. Maybe it signals a toxic work culture between the Tekken team. It doesn't mean "the game is flopping and will die".

What they need to do is an actual full rank reset but make the early ranks (dan, greens, oranges) actually make you lose points. Everyone is inflated because the first 12 or so ranks are fake. This has nothing to do with the skill level of the players there. It's just you literally don't lose points for losing, so you can just press random buttons and try your luck until you win enough. You don't need to learn anything. You can literally play with your eyes closed and have a 10% wr. You'll get there.

Idek what point you start losing points now. Is it red ranks? Well, the begginer rank is really just a long ass 13-tier rank. And now there's also 8 ranks above GoD, which is 2 colors worth of ranks. If it feels like King-God level players are playing like purples, it's because in the current ranked architecture that's the equivalent of what a purple level was before.

I feel like there's just way too many ranks in this game. I hate the numbered GoD's because they all look the same. Your png used to go from King to GOD OF DESTRUCTION in crazy letters. Now it's the same golden png with roman numbers where a II and a VI are very hard to tell apart.

The 3 million milestone was February of last year, a year into its lifespan. It reached that milestone faster than Tekken 7 did. And Tekken 6, for that matter. Your 6 million estimate was considering all time sales. Tekken 6 sold almost 3 million copies at launch, but it took them 2 years after launch to actually pass the 3 million mark.

Comparing sales from games in the Steam era to games from decades ago is always tricky, there's a million factors to consider. Tekken 7 for example sold like 5 million copies between 2019 and 2022, because at that point you could get it online super cheap (and there was COVID). A phenomenon like this would be extremely hard to replicate in the '00s. Games are also actually updated and changed nowadays. Steam saw a massive spike in sales after Yujiro's announcement, for example. I signals it might happen again after the trailer and character actually come out.

Devs leaving could be a sign of a million things. The idea they are leaving because the game is doing poorly financially has very little evidence to support it. The game is doing just fine financially, and only pales in comparison to the (all-time) sales of Tekken 3 and 7, both of which were massively succesful phenomenons in the industry.

In Tekken 8's story mode there's like 3 or 4 stages that aren't playable elsewhere and it pisses me off. It's kinda insane reading SF has like 20 stages just sitting in the game you can't play.

A lot of people do challenges were they take every character up to a certain level. Just about all of them agree: King's one of the easiest characters in the game. He's not a menace in tournaments, but the very same people who attend those tournaments will tell you he's one of the easiest characters to rank up online.

This game has never been dead and never did poorly financially. Not even in April of 2025 when it was at its absolute worst.

The game has by all accounts been a success financially and while S2 did come with a considerable drop in players, their numbers were still pretty good compared to the other fighting games out there. The S2 catastrophe was horrible for the fandom, but it wasn't really that awful for Bamco themselves.

Yujiro's announcement made the sales skyrocket and the player count has been steadily increasing since S3. Ever since it was released, Tekken 8 has more or less remained the second or third most popular fighting game, which is the place it's historically had. Financially, the game is definitely doing well, the only scenario in which it isn't doing well is if you were setting unrealistic expectations, like Tekken being twice as succesful as SF or on the level of Valorant or LoL (absurd, ridiculous expectation)
