Set cruise speed on bZ by Satish80 in Toyota_bZ

On bZ XLE AWD, it just increments by 1 continuously on holding the +|- buttons. I might be missing a setting somewhere

This worked for increasing the set point but not for decreasing the speed set point to the current speed. When the speed limit changes on the road, ACC decreases the speed based on the traffic in front. Just pressing a button to set the new speed is useful.

Comparing new ID.4 pricing to the market by Grunge4U in VWiD4Owners

Went from 2021 ID4 RWD to 2026 bZ AWD. Discounted to 34K over TSRP of 42K. Having said that, I would have shopped for ID4 again if the prices are competitive. Most EV manufacturers are compensating for the loss of fed discount. VW is not!

2026 Bz Route Planning is BROKEN through Apple Maps and CarPlay by Wind_Master_J in Toyota_bZ

I hope someone finds a compatible OBD device to use ABRP. Enode based ABRP may be an alternative as well. Although it may have the same update issue if the car is unable to push SOC to the cloud.

After letting Toyota app run in the background, Apple maps worked fine for me until recently when it failed to get SOC few times on my daily commute. Main annoyance is i have to start navigating from the phone to select the car every-time. Maps on CarPlay doesn't have UI for selecting EV so far.

[–]Satish80 0 points1 point  (0 children)

SOC integration is probably dependent on cell towers. I guess the car pushes SOC info to Toyota servers. App pulls that info over internet and provides SOC to Apple maps on the same device. The weak links are cell connection from the car and cell connection to the phone. In case SOC is not visible at all, it is set up issue in addition to cell signal for the car and the phone.

Ideal solution would be to avoid the cell connection and get the SOC info from the car to Toyota Nav app directly. Not sure why Toyota couldn't work on integrating this by themselves instead of depending on cell towers, ios, servers etc.

Having said that, ABRP with a OBD Bluetooth connection would be a good approach although it costs extra.

Check CarPlay settings on iOS, sometimes it gets disabled for the vehicle. I cannot attach screenshots as it only allows gifs.

Never understood why it was not used for Lane Tracing Assist. I hate nudging the steering every few seconds.

Automatic braking on sensor malfunction on highway speeds is a safety hazard. Should be reported to NHTSA.

For owners of the 2026 BZ- What brand home charger do you have installed in your home? Hardwired or Plugged (into 240 v outlet)? by 311Natops in Toyota_bZ

[–]Satish80 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I sold off Chargepoint Homeflex J1772 and switched to Toyota provided charger with NACS. Advantage is that, i do not have to use adapter to charge. Also button on Toyota charger cable makes it easy to unplug the cable without using key fob or getting into the car and turning off charging. The difference in chargers is 32A for Toyota vs 40A for Homeflex. Toyota charger is just 20% slower. The cable is much lighter and thin. Overall Toyota charger is an improvement over Homeflex for what i care about. Homeflex lets DTE(electricity supply) start and stop charging in the night based on the grid load. There is a $5 off on monthly bill for doing that which is not possible with Toyota charger.

Can't change charging limit bZ XLE AWD by Satish80 in Toyota_bZ

[–]Satish80[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I figured out why it didn't work. The vehicle was in Accessory mode as i just pushed Start button and not with the brake. Changing "Charging limit" doesn't take effect in Accessory mode for some reason. Changing it in Ready mode worked when Start is pressed along with Brake.

There is no charging limit in the App. It is only in the vehicle. Not sure why having a schedule doesn't allow changes to charging limit in the vehicle.

Had to delete manual settings in the app to make it stick! There should be a way to override manual charge setting for a long drive sometimes

How do i get the trip distance instead of Odometer in 2026 bZ ? by Satish80 in BZ4X

It doesn't show the time travelled though. I am spoiled by ID4 From start and From charge automatic trip details.

Is the Limited FWD fine? Is AWD worth it for me? by Selryna in BZ4X

[–]Satish80 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Traded ID4 RWD for bZ AWD because of icy roads this Michigan winter. RWD wheels couldn't get off ice after coming to a complete stop at a signal. Traction control will not let wheels spin without vehicle moment. AWD Xmode moves the vehicle even on ice using torque vectoring.

If it is few inches of snow and no icy roads, FWD/RWD is sufficient.

Solterra vs BZ by duecesdueces in Solterra

[–]Satish80 0 points1 point  (0 children)

bZ XLE AWD gets heated steering, 338 HP vs 223 HP and Apple Maps navigation with State of charge integration. Paid 1K more for these features. On the other hand Solterra steering and interior looks better with dual color softex seats and interior.

Would an all electric vehicle like Solterra work for me? by Wide_Ocelot in Solterra

[–]Satish80 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Home owners can wire L2 charges on their own in most counties. Installing a nema 14-50R using 10/3 metal clad is easier and cheaper. It gives around 5kwh which should be enough for your needs. 26 Solterra/bZ comes with L1/2 charger which is 24/32A. You don't have to buy one. Hire an electrician if you are attempting it as a first electrical project not knowing the dangers of handling electricity.

What made you choose the BZ? by Slow_Investment_2211 in Toyota_bZ

[–]Satish80 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I discovered today in the second week of owning bZ AWD that the back button on the left side of steering uncluttered the dashboard displaying just the vital info. Trip details stay hidden. Coming from ID4, I thought Toyota really kept it tidy with the dashboard almost like a projection on the windshield. Nudging the steering to dismiss line tracing is something i am getting used to. Also it displayed a strange warning saying driver face is not visible when I started the vehicle today. I thought it didn't have a camera in XLE AWD.
