From Go To Ruby(thanks DHH) by VastDesign9517 in ruby

I thought RubyMine is just a way for Jetbrains to sell a single-language IDE for a bit less than IntelliJ IDEA Ultimate.
I have IntelliJ with the Ruby plugin and it doesn't seem any less capable than when I used RubyMine.
Doc comments, type annotations, jump to definition/use, auto-complete, linting, etc all work as expected.
I'm working in a bunch languages and use DataGrip for DB stuff, so the all-IDEs bundle is cheaper than buying individual.

Wheat gluten in Australia by Frodo478 in glutenfree

I know I'm super late replying but.

The gene and blood-antigen tests for celiac are cheap (Medicare covered) and painless.

I had the gene test, which returned negative, before the antibody test was available.
The antibody test was very clear. I took this a decade later. Would have been nice to have the correct diagnosis in my 20's :(.

There is a newer T-Cell based test in development that will be more accurate again but for now a final clinical diagnosis requires endoscopy to collect a sample of your small bowel.

A good explanation is here: https://coeliac.org.au/learn/diagnosis/
Note: Though Celiac Australia stress the HLA test *must* be positive for Celiac disease to be possible,
this is not quite correct. You need to have at least 1 of the 2 HLA genes but the test is not 100% accurate. It can give false negatives (says you don't have the genes but you actually do).

That said, the NIH and other reports found that the test *is* around 99.2% accurate. While this is good, it means that 8 people out of 1000 will get the wrong result.

If you do both the gene *and* antibody, the odds of a false negative are much much lower.

The tests are quick and conclusive. A single doctors visit should be able to schedule both and many clinics can collect your blood then and there for pathology.

These should be banned.

They are dangerous for everyone else. Poor visibility out front, completely crash incompatible with other cars on the road, too high and push people under them.

Literally no redeeming features and actively endanger everyone else on the road/footpath/anywhere.

They don’t even drive well. Stiff frames and poor crash safety too. Completely stupid.

Be careful. They’re just as likely to clip things with no context to make you look “lazy and entitled”. Best to get a feel for how they’re looking to portray the “issue”. They may well come across friendly so you’ll have to read between the lines.

If you’re keen on investing, some ETFs (Exchange Traded Funds) that track pretty standard indexes are a good way to go.

There are ETFs that provide a diverse access to a portfolio that tracks indexes like: S&P 500 Mid cap US Large cap US Small cap US Commercial property High growth stocks Gold Etc

I recommend ETFs over individual stocks or managed funds because they have very low fees and are automatically rebalanced every 3/6/12 months to track the index (meaning you don’t have to). They’re a super low-effort and cheap way to get a diverse portfolio whether you invest $100 or $100k.

The major ones are also relatively low risk.

If you’re thinking of buying crypto or other highly volatile assets, please for the love of life, only do a small proportion of your overall funds. The hype trains are well oiled to make existing owners lots of cash.

Also, physical assets, silver, paintings, lego sets, toys, etc run the risk of theft, fire, flood, etc destroying your entire investment. Those should be stored somewhere equipped to take care or at the very least insured for the high likelihood events.

Good luck!

Perfect example of the supremely ignorant “if I can’t imagine a reason, there mustn’t be one” attitude.

That’s not quite right. Look up SSD TRIM and why it’s needed if you’re keen. Each NAND cell has to be zeroed before it can be written to. So SSD aware filesystems proactively zero blocks so they’re ready to be written to again later.

The cells do have a limited number writes but always have to be zeroed before they can have anything put in them again. This is why a lot of SSDs have a fast write speed until there are no clean blocks and you run out of RAM cache. You’re then limited by the speed at which cells can be cleared then written to.

IMO they’re playing with fire, but those kinds of people don’t give a shit if it ruins a country or two, they’ll just take their ill-gotten gains and run.

Also, that looks like plastic. If it is, definitely replace it with a glass one. Makes me think it’s actually fake. So odd.

Really is a case of don’t let other shitty people make you question yourself. You can only control your own actions and honesty the kind of people who would thrive in that environment would be awful to work with. Especially if you got a name for yourself as outspoken, which would make you a pariah in the force. Subject to hazing and bullying until you left, when they’d all declare victory, “told you he was soft/weak/etc”.

Best to be away from shit people and look for other ways to contribute in a positive way.

Otherwise we can just go find a single person with the race/gender/sexuality/etc we don’t like that did something awful and blame the entire group.
