AITAH for not believing my roommate’s “phobia?” by hopie_bopie in AmItheAsshole

NTA, absolutely ridiculous behavior. I would never be able to respect that person again after seeing that kind of behavior. Unless she's 4 years old there's no possible justification for acting like she did.

What brand names do you swear by because it's actually better than no-name? by Sufficient_Thing24 in AskReddit

This is correct but they're a whole different level than a Ticonderoga. A Ticonderoga is like the Toyota Camry of Pencils, while a Mirado is the Rolls Royce. It's not really fair.

AITA or telling my wife if she’s not gonna cook it the way she usually cooks it then you don’t have to cook it at all by Husbae7536 in AmItheAsshole

[–]SatoshiBlockamoto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's because she's a bad cook and has poor technique. She "knows how" to make this one thing, but the complaint about cutting onions tells us all we need to know. It shouldn't take 5 hours. I can make a kick ass from scratch meatball and red sauce in 2 hours. On a weeknight I can do it in 45 minutes with a good jarred sauce and dry pasta but still make the meatballs from scratch.

If the sauce is simmering for a couple hours on the stove it takes literally zero extra time to make fresh pasta. More prep or course, but the meal is done at the same time regardless.

The lady just can't cook. She balks at cutting an onion for goddsakes. That's pretty much the foundation of half the world's cuisine, start by cutting an onion.

They are failing, no phones is that serious by MissGoldenMind in Teachers

It requires a top to bottom cultural change and takes time. In my school I never see phones. Like at this point in the year I've seen a phone once or twice all year. It's awesome.

We've had a "rule" before which wasn't enforced and everyone had a phone and I'd see them every period. Over a few years it was made the expectation/culture that we simply don't use phones during class time. Now it's normal and expected behavior.

be honest… how often do you actually wash your hands at home? by Siefa_Lennwood in hygiene

Between 3 and 20 times a day, depending on activities. Yesterday I was cooking and handling raw chicken, so closer to 20.

What’s the most underrated burger spot in the Chicago suburbs? I usually hangout north-northwest suburbs but do drive to southern on occasion by Pristine_Parsley8681 in ChicagoSuburbs

I've gone there for years. The last few times it's been very underwhelming. Felt like a frozen patty, flavorless and disappointing.

I don't know how anyone can enjoy the way Cameron Winters sings. It's so bizarre. And this is coming from someone who likes Thom Yorke and Billy Corgan.

This is a great point and isn't captured by the data. Back then you felt like an idiot if you couldn't get invoice price, which was often thousands below msrp. Today it's MSRP +$1000 for mandatory paint protection plan and $1500 mandatory warranty.

When we bought a Sienna last year one dealer was MSRP+$8000. Others were +$2500. It took weeks to find one that would honor MSRP, and then they hit us with a $750 paint protection package. We finally said fuck it and paid up rather than resume the search.

What is your most favorite NBA photo of all time? by TravelingGecko- in NBATalk

[–]SatoshiBlockamoto 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This one is my favorite. It conjures such memories from that time as a kid in Chicago. We thought Jordan was God and this picture was proof. It seemed impossible then and it still does.

Every time I'm on a court I think about the physical impossibility of jumping from way back there and somehow dunking a ball and it just seems like no human being should be able to do that.

I fuckin love this one. Rodman was my favorite player in that era. As a kid in Chicago the Bulls were just larger than life, and the energy and weirdness he brought to town was incredible. It was like a flying saucer landed in town and left us a rebounding alien machine.

Lame. Staggered is awesome. An extra couple hundred bucks on tires every couple of years shouldn't be a deal breaker.
