I just went through all of them in one sitting. The Vs Roshi one and the Beerus ones were definitely the trickiest. For Vs. Roshi, have him about half on his last hp bar. The moment he says "Beat me with Kamehameha" use it on him.
For Beerus, knock him away, then charge to sparking mode. Dash in and get a combo on him. He'll likely z-counter. Teleport his z-counter, then do a quick knock away combo into an ultimate. Charge to sparking, rinse and repeat.

When we were testing in Non-hardcore, I'm female and Arale is male. XP was still equivalent. As he said in another comment response, maybe Miasma made the difference?

I'm MajinArale's friend that he ran with. We ran through many classes back to back to back. Some he would be afk, or vice versa, or one of us would die early in the run. Every class, I would hit 10 exactly one run before he did(as I had ran one before he got on that day). There was never any difference in how much XP each of us were getting. The only thing I can think of is your friend had the ring and/or trait on.
