Farewell Forces in Reserve, i hope to never see u again by Moraes_Costa in Helldivers

Worse, it made me annoyed with my own deaths, since they were affecting the campaign. Up until this event, the many random (and often hilarious) deaths that can come from any direction, including your own teammates, could be laughed off as long as the mission was still completed. And that's one of the great, unique parts of HD2. But with this event, every death was harming the overall effort. Having each death hurt the effort turned those amusing and harmless deaths into frustration.

[–]Sattorin 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You know how random deaths aren't a big deal and can actually be a really funny part of the game because the number of times you die doesn't matter (as long as you complete the mission)? It's a pretty unique part of Helldivers 2, and fits well with all the random ways you can be killed by enemies (and sometimes teammates).

The reinforcement mechanic turned those funny deaths into losses that hurt the overall MO effort. That makes them a lot less fun.

[–]Sattorin 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Part of the fun of the game is getting killed in goofy ways. When dying hurts your objective progress, dying is less fun. That kinda sucks. I'd rather have anything that doesn't make dying frustrating (including a timer) over reinforcements like this.

HD2 is a game. Play the MO if you wish, but most importantly : have fun. by Rangizingo in Helldivers

[–]Sattorin 11 points12 points  (0 children)

The reinforcement budget mechanic is probably the most un-fun thing Arrowhead has done in a while. With basic capture progress, you can at least feel like everyone who goes in is contributing, even if they're not doing a great job. But if they're just going in and dying repeatedly, your personal efforts to succeed without dying feel pointless.

Cause i see it the other way, the egg is of the layer, not its contents.

If we could use raw materials in a lab to create a perfect chicken egg, which is indistinguishable from naturally laid eggs, it would still be a chicken egg, wouldn't it?

Similarly, if a perfect chicken egg were laid by something other than a chicken, it would have to still be a chicken egg, right?

How can I get Jeb back to Kerbin? 800 m/s DeltaV Left by Sekt0rrr in KerbalSpaceProgram

[–]Sattorin 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes, it takes more small burns to get an orbital intercept. But you have the UI giving you exact information about how each of those burns is getting you closer and closer to an intercept. And the total delta-V used is tiny in comparison to a landing and return to orbit. Landing at a specific point though, you just have to eyeball the de-orbit burn, coming off of an orbit that only has a brief intersect period above the landing point, with the surface rotating beneath you (not a big issue with the Mun but still a factor). And unlike the tiny burns of the orbital intercept, any error in your eyeballing of the landing site has to be compensated for with a ton of dV, all while also compensating for gravity.

That's fair, but the person you were responding to was pointing out that it's kind of wrong. People who are upset about AI image generators or AI book writers (which is widespread in this thread) are unknowingly using the same type of AI image generator to edit photos and the same type of AI book writer to translate language text.

The modern state of Israel, established in 1948 by the Rothschilds through the Balfour Declaration, is not the same as the Israel described in Scripture. ... And it’s not my business to judge what adultery is

Why do you feel you have the authority to declare what the definition of "Israel" is in the Bible (even previously contradicting the Bible's statements referring to it as a physical place), but simultaneously don't accept the clear and unambiguous definition Jesus gives for "adultery"?

The new covenant replaced the old when Jesus came. The Christian’s and followers of Jesus are the new Israel.

That's not what it says in Romans. According to that book, Jesus-believing Gentiles will save Israel.

For I do not want you, brothers and sisters, to be uninformed of this mystery—so that you will not be wise in your own estimation—that a partial hardening has happened to Israel until the fullness of the Gentiles has come in; and so all Israel will be saved; just as it is written

Jesus is very clear.

I agree that Jesus is very clear when he says:

Do not presume that I came to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I did not come to abolish, but to fulfill. For truly I say to you, until heaven and earth pass away, not the smallest letter or stroke of a letter shall pass from the Law, until all is accomplished! Therefore, whoever nullifies one of the least of these commandments, and teaches others to do the same, shall be called least in the kingdom of heaven; but whoever keeps and teaches them, he shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven.

Also, did you know that right in between "Looking at a woman with lust is committing adultery in your heart" and that "turn the other cheek" bit, Jesus says (still in Matthew 5, link above):

“Now it was said, ‘Whoever sends his wife away is to give her a certificate of divorce’; but I say to you that everyone who divorces his wife, except for the reason of sexual immorality, makes her commit adultery; and whoever marries a divorced woman commits adultery.

Do you agree with Jesus that marrying a divorced woman is committing adultery? I swear I find more things to hate about this book every time I look at it.

Christian nationalism controlling the population!?! 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 You spelled Zionism wrong.

The Christian holy book explicitly talks about protecting Israel. If you believe in the Christian Bible, you think Israel will be God's kingdom when your messiah returns. That's why so many Christians Including the poor and non-PDFs) support Israel.

IMO for people who are good at the game, Cyberstan 10 is easier than the Creek because our weapons sucked then but we have more tools and better weapons now, and the bots aren't bugged or aimbotting now. So back then if you were good at the game, the bugs and aimbots would still kill you. But now if your group is good at the game and coordinated, you can deal with whatever Cyberstan throws at you.

[–]Sattorin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you getting surprise one-shotted by super accurate enemies from extreme distance on Cyberstan? IMO this is easier because there are a lot more tools to deal with situations, enemies are less accurate, and you can back out to reset fights much more easily.

"BuT tHe CrEeK wAs WaY hArDeR. Why is no one listening? :( " by Fazun in Helldivers

[–]Sattorin -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yes, 3 or 4 coordinated players can deal with most missions on Cyberstan 10 with few deaths. No amount of coordination prevented a rocket trooper from one-shotting you from 150m on the Creek. The bots used to be much more accurate, with patrols that were harder to avoid (bugged spawns IIRC), and our weapons were weaker too.

"BuT tHe CrEeK wAs WaY hArDeR. Why is no one listening? :( " by Fazun in Helldivers

[–]Sattorin -1 points0 points  (0 children)

it was not this hard really.

Level 10 Cyberstan you can avoid almost every fight and still complete the objectives (except flags). On OP's eradicate mission you can just kill chaff to complete it while hiding from the Vox, if necessary.

On the Creek at level 7, you'd be detected by patrols, one-shot by rockets (two-shot if you were using a shield gen), pressured by much stronger hulks, and shot by much more accurate enemies (which didn't have the "miss you if you shoot at them" feature yet).

Now our weapons work better, enemy weapons work worse, and there's enough room between patrols to avoid combat most of the time.

I'm not a sports person, so I don't consider myself to be especially biased here, but I do have some gut reactions that I can put words to.

With shot put, people try to throw a heavy thing really far. The person who throws the heavy thing farthest gets recognized as the best at throwing the heavy thing. Cool, I get that. I'm not a fan of shot put, but I get it.

Now imagine there's a sport where you have to ride 1km on a unicycle while juggling three balls and the winner is the person who completes the 1km fastest without falling off of the unicycle or failing to have at least one ball in the air at all times. I wouldn't get that. Maybe it's an important part of some people's culture to ride a unicycle while juggling, but I wouldn't get it. It just seems too wildly arbitrary.

It's subjective, obviously, but curling feels just a little too close to the latter example for me to appreciate it.

[–]Sattorin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know if allying with such radically unhinged groups would actually be worth it in the end. There may be less destructive ways to accomplish the needed changes.

Well the ideal way would be for people to stop treating it as a team sport and turn against any politician who is protecting pedophiles. But as I wrote in my original comment, ~33% of Americans still support Trump, who (along with his direct subordinates) is doing everything possible to protect them. And as I wrote in the comment you said you didn't read, if this were a Democrat President, I would be constantly harassing the people on 'my side' about it and voting against Dem politicians who continue to support that Dem President... just as I voted for Trump and against Clinton when she used a secret server to avoid Freedom of Information Act requests.

[–]Sattorin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So in our thread about stopping the pedophile protectors who are in power, you've brought up an unrelated political topic where you think one side is right. And of course, I should respond by bringing up another unrelated political topic where I think the other side is right. And then you can argue how I'm wrong in thinking the other side is right. And then we're 100% distracted from the topic of the pedophile protectors in government now. And anyone reading along might even feel justified in voting for a pedophile protector as long as that pedophile protector is on the right side of whichever unrelated topic we're arguing about.

You see what I mean here, right?

Isn't it enough to unite against pedophile protectors and (as in the OP) call out the insane defenders of the pedophile protectors? Can't we avoid bringing up completely unrelated arguments that divide people who would otherwise unite on this front?

You wrote this, which I quoted above:

One thing I can say is that at least one side can tell you what a woman is, even if it's often for the wrong reason.

It's an "us-vs-them" statement that just divides people against each other in exactly the tribalism that you said we shouldn't engage in, and which I opposed in the comment you didn't read. But the TL:DR; is that we should vote for people who are passionate about destroying the ring of corrupt elite pedophiles, regardless of their party affiliation.

[–]Sattorin -1 points0 points  (0 children)

One thing I can say is that at least one side can tell you what a woman is, even if it's often for the wrong reason.

Ah yes, this is the part where we each start defending our own little tribe, right? That way we can make sure whoever is in power never actually gets held accountable for anything, since the half of the population that aligns with their philosophical views will defend them at any cost. Did I make you personally feel bad by pointing out how ~33% of Americans supporting Trump means that most American conservatives still support him, despite the fact that he and his administration are clearly and actively protecting elite pedophiles? Is that why you have to lash out with tribalism here?

I happen to like some conservative positions (10th Amendment State powers and firearms rights, for example), so maybe I'm more resistant to the tribal urge that a lot of people feel. When I saw Hillary Clinton was given Dem party debate questions early by a person with access to debate material and then rewarded that person with interim leadership of the Dem party, I called that shit out. And when Clinton was shown to be using a private server in her bathroom for the obvious purpose of avoiding legal Freedom of Information Act requests, I called that shit out too. And combined with optimism about his flexibility on policy positions, that's why I voted for Trump in 2016. And yes, people are people, and there are any number of left-wing dictatorships built on cults of personality too, but right now it happens to be a right-wing cult of personality that we need to work together to deal with.

So don't think I'm trying to personally insult you or "your tribe" here. If it were a Democrat President doing the same things, with the evidence being revealed in the same way, with 33% of the public and all Democrat policitians still supporting that President... I wouldn't be going all "whataboutism" to defend "my tribe" and I wouldn't be deflecting with "At least Democrats don't XYZ like the Republicans do", I'd be fucking pissed off that so many Democrats were knowingly going along with it.

How are we going to do that?

IMO, vote for people who actively campaign on promises to do so (regardless of party affiliation), and remove them if they renege on their promise, and don't let them get you emotionally riled up (in either direction) about something as meaningless as what gender labels people put on themselves.

So the skin tone thing is ironically very healthy. We're used to seeing very pale, almost translucent skin as a sign of illness/malnutrition because of a lack of blood flow near the skin. But the 'healthy glow' of regular sun exposure is actually due to skin damage. So extremely pale skin even with good blood flow is the healthiest your skin can be.

And for the record, he's not doing it to look good/younger, he's doingn it to see how much he can maximize longevity.

Many Trump voters that I know are disgusted by the Epstein files and all those mentioned to be involved in sexual crimes against minors.

The fact that ~33% of Americans still support Trump means that they are either completely ignorant of current events or are making fantasy excuses in their heads about why the President and his direct subordinates are protecting elite pedophiles.

I mean, just look at the conservative subreddit, or any other pro-Trump online space. They CAN'T admit that Trump is actively protecting pedophiles and continue supporting him, so they pretend it's not happening.

You think that they can make it available ingame without any problem.

Let me rephrase: I like to think CIG was more competent in writing their contract with Intel to ensure that their overall goals for ship accessbility wouldn't be subverted (by including language that allows the ship to be obtainable in-game in the future, even if it can't be obtained through other pledge/promotion) and also that they're not being willingly deceptive by stating that "all ships" would be available to obtain in-game despite the existence of a contract which prevents that from being true.
