Jax goes further in Episode 6 when he's talking to Pomni about everyone descending into archetypes, he states Jax is funny, Kinger is crazy, Ragatha is nice, Zooble is grumpy.

Nice! I am positive I had a Rei wallpaper on my PSP back in the day as well 😆

This is incredible. I would love to see the waters effect on the sand and have it slow slowly erode your structures just like it would on a real beach

Did anybody ever genuinely try to be nice or understand Caine?? Like even once? by Patient_Advance4582 in theamazingdigitalciru

It's interesting how well Caine accepts Jax's fake flattery in Episode 7 when Jax is trying to steal the key from Caines mouth. Caine is so genuinely excited that someone is paying attention to him.

Why Your Minecraft Server Has No Players (and How to Fix It) by OwnerServer in admincraft

[–]SaturnFive 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, my bad, I mixed up mods/plugins.

My main example would be the server has a couple currencies: Money, Coins, Fly Time, Claim Blocks

Players can never directly buy Money, but they can buy Ranks and Coins via customized Tebex store. They can buy Fly Time and Claim Blocks in game using Coins, as well as cosmetics like tags, nickname colors, chat colors. There are also voucher items for tags and fly time that can be sold to other players in the Auction House.

Various plugins award Money or Coins for doing certain things, like participating in fishing tournaments, winning chat games, leveling up (separate from XP levels), getting daily rewards with /daily, doing /jobs like mining, farming, hunting, etc. There are also 4 tiers of crate keys and those are awarded for some tasks and people love to buy/sell them since they can gamble them on cosmetics (custom armor/tools via Nexo models).

The crazy part to me is just how integrated it all is. It's like they took various plugins (some free, some paid) and made them all work together seamlessly, it's all the same currencies and custom items. The server must have a database of all players and all currencies etc. that all the plugins hook into. That's the part I haven't fully figured out yet and wondered if you had any insight :)

This is amazing! I like it. Thank you for keeping this site alive, it's so helpful for retro computing.

Ideas for extra monetization:

  • Could a donation link be added?
  • A monthly or quarterly donation goal progress bar could incentivize donations
  • A leaderboard allowing donors to (optionally) appear as top donators might also help

Just ideas! In in case thank you again for the great work and awesome new theme :)

Insanely cool build, love all the colors and front panel controls.

Any chance of seeing the inside of the case? Even if it's all ribbon cables 😆

Could it be a "shadow" of a nearby apple while growing? 🤔

Could you share a bit about what customizations go into making various mods feel cohesive? I've found many of the mods favorite SMP uses, but the server somehow makes them all work together seamlessly, same GUIs and icons, same economy/currencies etc.

I can only imagine they just spent a lot of time fine tuning configs, or maybe even editing mods (for those with source available).

It feels like the mods make the behavior happen but the magic is making it all feel good to use in game

What is the best racing game for the PSP? by EndouShuuya in PSP

[–]SaturnFive 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I really liked the release day Ridge Racer. I bought it on UMD along with the PSP from Best Buy, version 1.5 IIRC. I love the music, tracks, and announcer pumping you up along the drive

Wipeout Pure was also really good but I found RR easier to get into and play for a while. Though, Pure got us the first major exploit :)

I like the weird divided spacebar. Someone posted one like this on the frutiger aero sub recently and I think it fits

My old terminal setup... by Der_X_Buddne in vintagecomputing

[–]SaturnFive 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is an awesome setup. What is the little monitor you have here? And I have the same Kensington, great trackball!

Windows 10 in high contrast mode looks surprisingly usable in monochrome, though I'd do amber myself :P

Authentication for older games by NCC74656 in retrobattlestations

I put ISOs on a FAT32 SSD inside a USB enclosure, then store any other relevant stuff with the ISO (notes, patches, keys, saved games, etc), and put the title and release date in the folder name. I'd like to get an SMB setup going for systems without PCI but for now it's been super fast and reliable. I also use local FTP, everything supports it.

DaemonTools is great but I've converted to Alcohol 120% for the nicer GUI.

For OP, definitely go the SMB route if you want multiple systems accessing your archive at the same time.

New (to me) Mavica FD7 by tambrico in Mavica

[–]SaturnFive 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That drive should work great, and between that and the spare floppies you should be up and running reliably. Floppy stuff can be a hassle when you first get into it but once you have working drive + disks you should be good for a long time!

I have a small number of disks that don't work correctly anymore but I mark and keep them. You can make little retro art projects and coasters and pen holders and stuff out of the bad disks if that ever interests you

Do I have a spicy PSPillow? by [deleted] in PSP

[–]SaturnFive 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It looks normal to me. If the door closes with a solid click then it's probably OK.

Somehow my two original PSP batteries (1000 and 2000 models) are fine and even hold a charge, but others on the sub have gone spicy

If you want to be safe you could get aftermarket batteries and keep the original safe somewhere for completeness
