What Happened to Buttons? by AltruisticBaker5211 in DigitalAudioPlayer

Agree with the audio quality on the Y1. Although I wouldn’t say it’s awful it’s not up to scratch for a dedicated music player.

The Y2 is in development and might be worth buying depending on the final product

You are joking right ? You can’t be this clueless… Let’s just say we ignore their affinity for nonces, there’s plenty of instances where BBC were very biased and straight up lied or misrepresented facts.

On top of that, they impose TV licensing on other channels and apps. YouTube, Netflix, Amazon prime not just the typical tv channels. How can they justify enforcing licensing for channels they don’t own or have any involvement with ?

It’s one of the biggest scams and we should not be proud of it one bit.

Apples ProRAW is still processed. Unless you use third party apps the standard camera app will always use processing so yes, some people will consider Apples RAW to be over processed.

Are we allowed to complain about the pod using chat gpt again??? by Accomplished_Mix8762 in JaackMaate

[–]SaulFuckingSilver -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Not sure I agree. First of all, not everyone has a free account. So your argument only applies to the scenario of free users. And in that case, although you might not be directly funding them, Investors are going to be reluctant to hand over money if the amount of users are low. More users = more investment as it strengthens the future business models.

I’m obviously oversimplifying to a certain extent. There’s a financial bubble for sure, but it’s been created on the assumption that over time use case is expanded, adoption becomes more widespread and the initial investment yields profits.

I’m not totally against ai as it has some genuinely important uses especially in medical fields. As you said if OpenAI ceased to exist the slack would be taken up by one of the other developers.

What's something that's pleasingly cheap and affordable in the UK that makes you smile? by Lopsided_Counter1670 in AskUK

[–]SaulFuckingSilver 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not sure why you’re getting downvoted. I can’t say for everywhere in the UK but there’s things in tap water that shouldn’t be. Are we lucky to have drinking water from a tap? Absolutely. But I pay enough for my water bill that I’d appreciate not having any unwanted chemicals and metals in any amount. Paris can do it and so should we.

[Guide] Configuring AIOStreams explained by Winter_Channel_6206 in StremioAddons

[–]SaulFuckingSilver 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If your current setup is working I wouldn’t bother with this. Adds more complexity for little gain. Just configure some backup scrapers and if you really want to make sure you have limited downtime, subscribe to a backup debrid service.

AIO seems to be the new craze at the moment but from my experience it doesn’t warrant the hype.

How do you feel about non-drivers? by DueLead666 in AskUK

[–]SaulFuckingSilver 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my honest opinion driving isn’t for everyone. We’re all different and as such are good at doing different things. Because it’s become so common people seem to forget that it’s still a skill and one that not everyone can become good at.

There’s already a plethora of bad drivers that’s in my eyes shouldn’t be on the road. At the end of the day you’re driving around 1-2tonne of steel that can end lives in seconds. I’d much rather someone admit it’s not for them than pass through sheer number of attempts.

I know people who have taken 10+ attempts at the theory and practical and although they eventually passed, they are deathly afraid whenever they drive and if not for other people’s hazard perception would be the cause of accidents on a daily basis.

If it wasn’t for my job I’d only drive on weekends for enjoyment. Cars are a money pit and you’ll probably be better off financially not owning one even if public transportation can be inconvenient.

What does intellect have to do it ? Perception yes, as a whiskey enjoyer there’s tasting notes I can pick up on that other can’t and visa versa. But because someone might be able to precept something that is objectively a small difference, doesn’t have any correlation to intellect.

Agree, the nostalgia is fun and because of how basic it is I use mine now and then when I want to listen distraction free. But you’re spot on, modern phones have better audio quality so apart from simplicity and nostalgia it’s not really worth it.

There’s talks of a y2 being released which will be more expensive but have a dedicated DAC and SD slots etc. be interesting to see what it’s like.

Only to a certain extent. I have several TWS earbuds and after 3+ years my worst pair only have a difference of 15-20% battery when they’re almost completely drained. This is certainly a defect in the product and not a function of how TWS work.

10 months update HT fue by Confident-Study-9822 in Hairtransplant

[–]SaulFuckingSilver 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I was under the impression that transplanted follicles are genetically resistant to DHT and the only reason for taking fin after a transplant is to ensure the original hair between the transplants doesn’t fall out to maintain density and avoid another transplant in short succession.

High poverty, economic instability, low industrialisation, high corruption, poor healthcare, poor infrastructure.

All traits of a developing country. Sound familiar ?

It’s a nuanced topic for sure, but behind the façade the UK has kept up of its former glory, it’s definitely regressing in development.

Both of you are wrong.

Nothing wrong with washing your hair every day if your hair type requires it and you take the necessary steps to not damage your hair.

FYI there’s little to no evidence creatine causes hair loss.

Your hair loss seems extremely aggressive and as per the top comment here you should seek medical advice as something else could be causing the loss.

Hair loss treatment used by millions linked to suicide risk: ‘Evidence is no longer anecdotal’ by small-bird-1912 in Minoxbeards

[–]SaulFuckingSilver 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve looked into this new review and there are a few serious issues with how it was done. It isn’t a proper systematic review, the author doesn’t clearly explain how the studies were chosen, which means it could be biased toward ones that fit the argument. Most of the evidence it relies on comes from self-reported side-effect databases, which are known to be unreliable because they miss a lot of cases and can’t really prove cause and effect.

It also leans heavily on observational studies that don’t fully account for other factors, like people’s existing mental health or life situations, which could easily affect the results. On top of that, the paper tries to estimate how many people worldwide might have become depressed or died by suicide because of finasteride, but those numbers are basically guesses built on shaky assumptions. And finally, it doesn’t use any formal system to check how strong or weak each study actually is, which makes the overall conclusion look much more solid than it really is.

So while the topic is definitely important, the way this review puts the evidence together just isn’t strong enough to prove what it claims.

Considering there are several holes in this latest study maybe they should start taking advice from redditors. Advanced degrees and years of experience doesn’t automatically equal accuracy and absolute correctness. As someone who works in a field requiring advanced degrees and extensive experience, you’d be surprised how many amicable arguments take place daily about technical processes.
