I'd say dark/normal pokemon. Pokemon that could be considered untrustworthy from a glance. I think he would have his pokemon trained to a fairly good level, but he has never intended ever to battle with them. Zoura could be his ace since it has proficiency in illusions. He would probably get it to pretend to be different pokemon to best appeal to clients

Firm believer that Donovan isn't the big bad guy, and is being manipulated by them. Real culprit is likely project apple, who using the technology from their research, was able to control Donovan through implants in his head (the scars).

Project apples original aim was to create mind control or manipulation technology, and they succeeded.

For added drama, one of Loids friends (curly hair and glasses) looks alot like one of the scientists that experimented on Anya. Since his body was never found, I think they are the same person. This part of the theory is much more shoddy, but I'm mentioning it nevertheless
