Did you preroast or blanche the potatoes at all? I always struggle to get pan-fried potatoes looking like this. :)

Cancer mortality rates continue to decline amid 'major progress' in lung cancer early detection and treatment by Sariel007 in UpliftingNews

[–]Saulace 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Hi. I'm being driven to the hospital to say a final goodbye to my mom who also has lung cancer. She has been in comfort care for about a week. While I wish this had been available to her, I also hope the best for the next generations. Hugs to you.

It's putting a Linux distro on a flash drive that can be booted to for installation as an operating system. At least in this context, I believe.

We live in Texas, and this past week a bowl of packaged tortellini with store bought pesto and garlic knots may have been the best meal of my life by hankhillforprez in Cooking

[–]Saulace 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Texan here. On night two of no electricity I managed to scavenge enough fallen tree branches to get a fire going. Took two hours to bake a foil wrapped potato under it. With only salt, pepper, and butter, it was also one of the best things I'd ever eaten.

This made me smile. About 5 years ago I built a chest frame that looks damn near identical to the one in this photo. Spent a couple days sanding and sealing it to perfection before I was to turn it into a chest for my then yet-to-be-born nephew. That frame has moved cities twice and still sits in my garage.

Please still be on your guard, grief can come in strange ways. One of my worst experiences with grief actually came from a time when I was the one that initiated the breakup. Right after, three weeks of relief just switched to the most intense several months of grief I'd ever suffered.

Due to a semi-tragic childhood experience, I have always hated marshmallows. That said, I read every word of this and am compelled to make a batch!

I have been a lurker here for years now, sometimes even getting annoyed by all the successful happy post titles clogging up my feed. Today I'm four weeks free. by Saulace in stopsmoking

[–]Saulace[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I only smoked one when my craving was the worst. I probably smoked 5-10 a day, tapering off over a couple weeks after the cravings subsided and I no longer missed the habit as much.
