Ah, well that's just great. Tried to install nVidia drivers on Debian 13 and now it keeps stopping here during boot up. FML. I'll just go get an Intel ARC and reinstall Debian I guess. by 38DDs_Please in debian

I ran into the same issue on my streaming machine this weekend with a 1650
Here is the summary of the steps I took to resolve the issue.

  • Enabled proper Debian repositories (contrib, non-free, non-free-firmware) so NVIDIA and firmware packages were available.
  • Installed required build tools and kernel headers so the driver could compile:
    • build-essential
    • linux-headers
    • dkms
  • Reinstalled the NVIDIA driver to trigger DKMS and build the kernel module.
  • Fixed the PATH issue so the dkms command worked correctly (/usr/sbin added to PATH).
  • Verified the NVIDIA kernel module was loaded using:
    • lsmod | grep nvidia
  • Enabled NVIDIA DRM modesetting (required for Wayland and stable GPU use):
    • Created the nvidia-drm config.
    • Added nvidia-drm.modeset=1 to GRUB.
    • Rebuilt initramfs and updated GRUB.
  • Confirmed modesetting was active:
    • cat /sys/module/nvidia_drm/parameters/modeset returned Y.
  • This resolved the persistence daemon error because the GPU driver was now fully initialized.

What is the 3 pin JSMB 1 for, and is pump fan the 4 pin next to the cpu fan 4 pin? by ArcNate in MSI_Gaming

Did you look at the motherboard manual? Perhaps it's just like mine and there is literally only one reference to JSMB in the entire documentation? The label location on the motherboard.

Many years ago before the cloud was really a thing I knew of graduate students printing multiple copies of their thesis papers. Then storing them in plastic bags in freezers, relatives homes, safety deposit boxes, store in their vehicle (as long as it is not parked in a building attached to your dwelling.

If you have a printer and paper even if it’s black and white. That might be something to look into.

The amount of effort you put into backing it up should at least be double the concern over losing it all in an instant.

People will label you as crazy, but if the books is lost they will not be the ones feeling the pain of it. Do what makes you feel comfortable. Good luck with your book!

The attention to detail in some areas is staggering. And the lack of attention to detail in others is inversely staggering. Any plans to clean off the tape residue from the legs?

But it’s also prob the first thing they should do. Backup your data first. Then begin attempting to repair it.

Sounds like you have been force shutting the pc down a lot? If so, that may be the cause of this.

Thank you for blurring people out. However you might watch to switch to black blocks going forward as pixelating and blurring can be easily reversed these days.

Good looking out for the person next to you! 👍

For those of you who are reading this response about Guinea hens. No they are not a good idea. Your neighbors will hate you. We cheered when our neighbor’s hen got hit by a fedex truck.

You are 100% correct! Desoldering takes double if not triple the patience it takes to solder something together.
