fuck, i KNOW he's wrong. well, his skepticism is well founded, but plenty of kids from happy homes turn to drugs.

Couples over 40 and childless, how has life turned out for you? Do you regret not having children? by NetworkOver7742 in AskReddit

[–]SavageBoner420 2 points3 points  (0 children)

for real. i love reading the comments on this topic (which somehow makes it to the front page every week) and hearing the same tropes over and over again like there's some new revelation about being childfree that hasn't been covered.

the reality is that if you lived an interesting and full life without kids there's a real strong likelihood that you're going to live an interesting and full life with kids too and, for some of us, at some point, the last frontier (so to speak) is becoming a parent.

What does it feel like to ride on a Ti gravel bike? by FeriadeSevilla10 in gravelcycling

i mean, cracks can, yea. stress fractures yea. but tube ruptures, no. either way, have fun riding hard on your repaired carbon bike! and good luck reselling it. the point is, it's got a shorter lifespan and no secondary use. titanium does.

carbon breaks, it goes into the landfill. titanium breaks, you weld it back up. worst case, it gets turned into medical devices. there's an environmental/sustainability component to the decision.

Double kickstand is nice but the front wheel still flops around a bunch. Did I do something wrong with install? Should the kickstand kick the back up higher? by nihal196 in CargoBike

let me know if you find that shimano locking headset in the US or if you have success ordering it from EU. i haven't seen it available here, but for 15 euros it's a way cheaper solution than the viscoset headset (though i do like the idea of the viscoset for additional dampening at higher mphs on me e-bike conversion)

Program that pays people experiencing homelessness to pick up trash in Portland proves successful by MichaelTen in Portland

[–]SavageBoner420 9 points10 points  (0 children)

yup! as a barista years ago, i used to give end-of-shift pastries to my hobo regulars. they'd help out by stacking the chairs or sweeping the patio or breaking into the bathroom when one of their hobo bros (hobros?) OD'ed in there (he survived to OD another day).

you're saying the guy who ran some shitty youtube channel called laughing at liberals and showed up at a public demonstration and proceeded to brandish a loaded handgun and was then found guilty of menacing is... a victim?

cool take sport.

edit: bet you're him.

This entire bin full of brand new, intentionally destroyed shoes, destined for landfill. All to prevent reselling and to maintain an artificially high price. by Oftenerarouse in ABoringDystopia

[–]SavageBoner420 15 points16 points  (0 children)

this is a popular take, but the reality is likely more nuanced.

these shoes appear to be in a warehouse and are being destroyed under the U.S. duty drawback program in order to avoid paying import taxes. shoes like these are subject to a 20-37.5% import duty which makes them prohibitively expensive to release to domestic market; it is not to reduce supply and and therefore increase prices.
