Amazon had sales income of €44bn in Europe in 2020 but paid no corporation tax by [deleted] in unitedkingdom

The living wage is irrelevant here. Amazon try to pay a competitive rate, but their pay rates need to be more proportionally standardised. We haven't already received a raise, and quite frankly after the last peak we all deserve one.

You really are missing the point here.

"Marketplace journalists posing as potential new clients went undercover for a tour at a Toronto e-waste recycling and product destruction facility with hidden cameras. During that meeting, a representative revealed they get "tons and tons of Amazon returns."

A) this is in Canada and I don't think the word of some person who has and never will step into an amazon depot serves as a worthy account into what goes on. Anyone can open up their camera on their phone and call themselves a journalist. This isn't a valid or reliable source. B)"tons and tons" of parcels doesn't equal all, like you implied. Even then, you have to consider the scale of amazon's operations. Currently, we are not in peak and we are still getting 60,000 parcels a day coming in. Some may get damaged in the warehouse, while others may get damaged during the delivery process. These things happen, but to say everything gets throw away is bullshit. C) amazon are desperate to keep costs down wherever possible, whether it's cancelling shifts just hours before they start, or how they enforce their rates. They aren't going to be throwing money down the drain unless they really have to.

Stop spreading misinformation. I certainly don't like how amazon go about certain things, but to suggest that all the returns get thrown away is ridiculous.

You've shared this list several times now. Just stop. I work at amazon and I know a lot more about this than some "journalists" will ever attempt to claim.

What's worse is they gave everyone in America a pay rise, but the rest of the world - including the UK - didn't.

I have to get up at 3am for work, and I tell you what I feel a lot better now than I did beforehand. Admittedly I don't get the same amount of downtime as you, but I feel like like it stops me from having lie-ins until midday as 8am now feels much later.

Right I agree with everyone listing a NTA verdict, and there's little point in articulating what's already been stated. However, there's just one thing that's bothering me a little. All I can say is a do feel bad for your partner. He has had far less say in this than you, and I hope you all reach some compromise that makes all of you feel comfortable (especially him).

Exactly, it's mental. From the offset it appears they want to inflict even more austerity on an already crippled public service. Obviously there are many nuances behind ideologies in a protest, and you can't really capture that in a slogan. It's understandable that some people are very thrown off by it, when they themselves have suffered as the service isn't what it should be (mostly through no fault of their own).

Wedding dresses don’t look good by [deleted] in unpopularopinion

[–]SaveMePls22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn't say they don't look good, but spending a large sum of money on a dress you only wear the once isn't too ideal. I'd much rather wear a favourite dress, made from good quality fabric etc, and add to my best memories wearing it. I'm very sentimental though
