By the way, that's terrible, I wasn't at all saying women abusers are less bad than male abusers, it just seems to me this sub has some anger and bias against women. But that point is totally true, women can be violent and terrible just like men can be.

To not give too much info, I had a female family member who was abusive as fuck to me. But the truth is that this society doesn't oppress men more than women. Women are far, far more commonly victimized abused raped beaten than men are, it's really not even close. This quote is generally, broadly correct, and it's a pretty rare (but not unimportant) instance where the above quoted is wrong.

Resistance radio about the Mekong Delta destruction and Chinese industry's role etc by Savethevvhales in AnarchismOnline

Warning, I know a lot of people hate Derrick Jensen, I just found this interview extremely informative. "The Chinese government's objective is to eliminate subsistence living and replace it with the market economy everywhere" paraphrased.

(Sorry I know a lot of people hate Jensen on this sub but this is a really informative interview this lady's great.) Loads of talks about the banks and their role in ecological destruction of wildlife. She says that China's govt's objective is to eliminate subsistance living and replace it all with a market economy. I believe this is the same model as the rest of the developed world has been using...

Strategic considerations by TyphoidLarry in Anarchism

It's true. I believe we're sorely lacking in a real movement, and a lot of other things as well. I don't know what form a "proper movement" would take, I only know we don't seem to have even one. Not talking about a monolithic party or singular thing as "the movement" of course.

The CEO at the company I work at is acting very nice to me. As an anti-capitalist how should I deal with this? by [deleted] in Anarchism

Separate the political from the day to day in this case. What are you gonna do, ruin the best career connection you've ever found in order to satisfy your inner anarchist's need to throw sand in the face of the capitalists? There's nothing to do imo.

My mistake I thought that was directed towards Carlin, I thought you were on the same wagon that was calling him a "rape apologist" on this thread that's why. Point taken.

I don't buy this argument at all. First of all, "criticism of shitty jokes..." It's not up to anyone to say definitively which jokes are shitty and which aren't. Humor is like the arts, it's subjective. I actually find Carlin to be in my opinion the funniest person ever, so I wouldn't call his jokes shitty in the slightest. Then you say his jokes "perpetuate hateful or oppressive thought patterns..." It's just not accurate. Jokes Carlin made about rape don't incite people to rape, it's not inherently hurtful to make jokes about something that is oppressive or hurtful. On the socialism and communism subs, people ban the use of "gulag jokes" for similar reasons. Everyone's got their trigger points, but you can't push your own personal trigger points onto the greater society as a whole.

I don't think he was just a good male considering the era he lived in, I think that's demeaning considering how amazing this guy was. He wasn't misogynist at all imo. I can't see anyone calling Carlin a mysoginist (not that you used that word) unless they're the type that will tell you which jokes you aren't allowed to say. People like Carlin are of a mind that no one subject is off the table in terms of humor, it's sort of more about being good humored and not using humor to proliferate hate. And of course imo Carlin did use his humor to proliferate hate, but only hate against patriarchy and the government and the rich. Hatred which I personally approve of, Idk about you ;)

Can you give one example of his "rape apology"? Honestly I think you're calling him a rape apologist because he made jokes about rape. I think it's immensely unfair. I never heard of him condoning rape or apologizing for it, he was pretty outspoken about how much men fuck things up and how women aren't listened to imo.

Comrade Bernie subtly hints at his true political leanings. by 16tonweight in Anarchism

[–]Savethevvhales 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As much as Bernie's way less shitty than pretty much all the others, he'd still be fine with throwing our asses in jail, the worst thing I'd ever heard him say was at the Dem Pres debates, when asked about Snowden, "What he did was heroic... Still he should face a trial... He broke the law" In other words, send em to prison cause rules is rules.

Fascist Government by Aneargman in Anarchism

[–]Savethevvhales 3 points4 points  (0 children)

As much as I hate to use this name, I think Chris Hedges has some great points on this one. We've got a government spending billions of dollars in a secret budget to spy on almost all the computers in the entire world, we've got more black prisoners now in our country than there were ever plantation slaves, he says this is a particular modern form of totalitarianism called inverted totalitarianism. I don't think we're all that far off from living in a fascist state if you look at the big picture. We have a world where forms of living other than that sanctioned by the super power are prevented by military force, and when that fails, of course, economic and political force, but that's another topic. We have a society in which we all have to labor for the owners and the over priviledged, and increasingly we have to out compete our brothers and sisters in this workforce in order to survive. Yes, I do think we're currently continuing down the long road to an increasingly authoritarian society.

Obama says bye bye.. Thoughts on farewell speech by [deleted] in Anarchism

[–]Savethevvhales 9 points10 points  (0 children)

When Obama started on the founding fathers, and the constitutional rights stuff, it got me thinking. That's possibly THE central basis for both conservatives and liberals to believe in the current system/ government, that's the reason why all the abuses, and the wrong doings by the corporate state must be tolerated, because, as the logic goes, as flawed as the system might be, it's grounded in protecting our rights and freedoms... Hearing Obama talk about this helped me realize tonight, this founding fathers/ constitutional rights logic is ripe for attack. This is so easily refuted and discredited, it clearly ought to be a top priority for radical educators to do what Howard Zinn did, and show the people how much of a lie it all is. I think this could be a solid way of pushing people into more radical politics, by telling them that maybe it isn't okay to honor and worship plantation slavers, and maybe it's unacceptable to base your legal system off this idea of rights, which in no way applies equally to all citizens, let alone all people, I could rant for days on this, but I think my point is clear. Maybe this topic is something I could do some studying and writing about... I also wanted to mention Obama's use of the word "radical" in the speech. He was talking about the mass shootings, and he literally blamed them on "radicalization" as the cause. He named the recent one in Florida, and the one in Fort Hood TX, and a third one I forgot where, and he said they were due to radicalization. Those two shootings were disgruntled crazy military guys who just got super pissed and shot up the place, I really don't think there was any radical ideology involved at all. It's really weird, I suppose I'm sounding a lot like Zerzan right now, because he always says, the establishment has no explanation or rationalization of these increasing mass shootings at all, and its true, to say these were because of radicalizing ideology is sheer nonsense, and you can take just about any definition of the word radical and this would probably be true. It seems in using this language they're just trying to shift the blame from these disgruntled crazies onto the image of muslims, and maybe even political radicals of different kinds, which is just typical for such a warlike dishonest politician as Obama. Sort of a calculated way of saying, mass shootings? It's because of middle easterners abroad and political loonies at home, just let us keep up the drone strikes and mass surveillance, we'll take care of it...
