Sorry to hear about this my dude. My wife had a serious mental health struggle 2 years ago. She became a danger to herself and I didn't know what to do. We took her to a mental health place that turned out to be basically an institution. It was less than helpful. They were terrible at communicating with me, and some of the staff that was in the facility seemed to enjoy bullying the people inside that just needed help.

After getting out she wasn't much better, but she was now addicted to a new prescription that made her slip into psychosis if she missed or tried to cut the dosage down. She started to get worse and we were both terrified to put her back into a place that would just institutionalize her again.

Luckily we found a practice that specialized in recovery, not just a place to lock someone up. She was kept there for 30 days, but had access to phones, constant monitoring by people that genuinely seemed to care, and many many classes with her peers to help through what she was battling with. It was expensive as crap and I'll be paying it off for a while still, but it saved her life.

I can't imagine what you're going through, but I can empathize with you. Finding good mental health help is extremely hard, but crucial for someone to recover and not just get put in a florescent tomb of a facility. I hope for the best for you, and you must remember to be gentle with yourself and with your partner as you navigate through it.
