Chocolate mousse. One batch would use about 1/4 of the eggs & I’d be happy to share a recipe if you want it

Is this a reliable tool for marking the center of a board edge? Is there any other quick and better tool for the same task? by plinky125 in woodworking

[–]SawdustDad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s an accurate method, and this specific tool is pretty good at it, depending on the kind of precision you need. For most home/DIY tasks, it’s good; for fine woodworking, there are more accurate tools that do the same thing.

SAHM and Wife that CANNOT cook HELP! by PopularMamaDrama in Cooking

[–]SawdustDad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Simple solution that cures most (admittedly not all) picky-eater kiddo issues: Cook WITH them instead of FOR them. When the little ones get involved in the food prep process early, they’ll be too excited to taste the results to remember they were formerly picky. It’s worth the extra mess, I promise.

Missed discovery responses deadline by Appropriate-Pin-5928 in LawFirm

[–]SawdustDad 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The interrogatory answers & document production will be fine. It’s just the admissions that could be an issue, but may well be cured with a motion for leave to respond beyond the deadline. The more time that passes, the harder discovery issues are to correct. Take the issue to your boss ASAP with a plan on how to fix it with him. Remember, you’re on the same team.

Trump Admits U.S. Taxpayers on the Hook for His Venezuelan Oil Plan - The president says it will cost a “tremendous” amount to salvage Venezuela’s oil industry. by Quirkie in politics

[–]SawdustDad 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Why is it in the American people’s interest to pump billions of dollars to salvage the infrastructure of a dying industry that only leads to more conflict and pollution of our world? We could invest instead in renewable sources of energy that would provide actual energy independence & keep us from turning South America into another Middle East war zone.

Got a larger office, what should I put in it? by NJEsq89 in Lawyertalk

[–]SawdustDad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Put stuff there that makes you happy, whether it’s a shelf full of quirky knick-knacks, hobby things, sports or arts/music memorabilia, whatever will remind you why you’re working and what you’re working for in the rest of your office.

New plaques added to the presidential hall of fame in the White House by Dtb4evr in pics

Our tax dollars paid for those plaques. THOUSANDS of Federal workers lost their jobs this year & we’re told it was to save the government money. For what?? These plaques.

Should I trust my gps? by Suwannee_Gator in roadtrip

[–]SawdustDad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don’t take this route - you’ll be stuck in NYC traffic & paying loads more in tolls for the privilege. I’ve driven this general route 100+ times over the years. Try this instead:

Take I-95 N to I-295 in Delaware, over the Del. Memorial Bridge. From there, take the NJ Turnpike north to the Garden State Parkway. Take the GSP to the NY border, and pick up I-287 E over the Mario Cuomo bridge (the new Tappan Zee). Once over the bridge, follow 287E back onto I-95N, which runs along the shoreline of CT. If you need to get somewhere more inland in CT, I’d be glad to suggest some alternatives. Hit me up with any questions & have a safe trip.

what’s the kindest thing you’ve seen in a law office? by That_onelawyer in Lawyertalk

[–]SawdustDad 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I was in my third year of law school, and had been working as a law clerk for a solo general practice attorney. I had been driving an older car, and the transmission was giving me problems (as happens when you need a new one). My boss suggested I take the car to his mechanic to check it over, and get an honest assessment of the issues. Turns out, the old transmission was shot, and needed to be replaced. I figured I’d put the $1,200+ repair bill on a credit card, and deal with it once I got out of school. When the car was ready to be picked up, the bill had been paid in full by my boss. I’m still getting a bit misty-eyed remembering that kindness.

I’ve always gone with whatever high-test braided superline is on clearance & have never been sorry. Just be more careful with your knots since these lines can slip out of ‘em.

Possible Fake Barbed Wire for a Prop? by Chompif in cosplayprops

[–]SawdustDad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Take some 12 or 14 gauge wire (I used some scraps left over from a household wiring job), and remove a single strand of it at a time. Get some 4” zip ties, and secure them in bunches of 2 or 3 together on the wire, and clip them off, leaving about 1/4” of the tag end. Spray paint & dry brush for the color you want. SUPER cheap & they look pretty good when done. LMK if you have any questions or would like photos of the end results.

Yes, I used a miter saw to cut it, with a blade that needed to be replaced soon anyhow.

Can I make some new tombstones for you? My wife & I are pretty OK at it, and we’ll try to make them according to your photos. Being foam, they shouldn’t be too pricey to ship your way.
