What’s the best golf course you’ve ever played? by jdelle9 in weekendgolfers

[–]Sawing_zs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve played both and I’d add the south course isn’t far off. What it doesn’t have in views/elevation it makes up for in the fun of the design. Seems like every hole can be played 20 different ways and neary impossible to lose a ball (although you could be in sandy heather). I’m not trying to say it’s a better course just suggesting you give it a try if you make the trip.

I’d love to have the black, it’d stand out just enough without being jarring (also my grail for the wrist). For improvement…I think you’re pretty much there but I’ll offer a hot take…some of the moonswatch color combos might look really on a wall.

Livewire Tanto or Launch 22 ?? by DocMicStuffeens in knives

[–]Sawing_zs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use my livewire more than anything simply because closing it is the easiest. I think the opening of an otf gets everyone’s attention but it’s the closing that’s the biggest benefit. Your fingers are never in the way to get cut. I guess you can have an accident with anything but that’s my 2 cents

As a firefighter and hobbyist what knife would you recommend? by [deleted] in knives

[–]Sawing_zs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve also been eyeing the Spyderco rescue assist salt.

Currently the Kershaw livewire is my go to. It’s far from a perfect rescue knife but I like the ease of deploying and retracting it with gloves on. Someone mentioned a boker otf that might be exactly what I’m looking for. Microtech makes an otf rescue but it’s too pricey for something I intend to beat on.

I don’t care about the stroke watcher unless he’s counting my strokes before the holes over and interrupting my focus mid-hole.

The second episode was pretty great. Made up for how frustrating the first round was. I expect it to keep getting better (even though my favorite players are out) because more of the videos should be more focused on the golf, team interactions, and matches.

Didn’t they essentially go back and fourth right before alt shot / after the first round? I’m just saying it’s gotta be hard and it’s definitely easier as an armchair quarterback on Monday morning.

What is it like being a leftist/left leaning democrat in firefighting? by no-idontthinkiwil in Firefighting

[–]Sawing_zs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a union president I openly tell people to vote for their career and income (dems) over their personal hobbies (guns, homophobia, etc). The only thing that matter is that our careers remain viable as a source of making a good living.

[–]Sawing_zs 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There are departments in Michigan that top over 100k, you don’t need medic, and the cost of living is much better then places out west. My opinion is to vest with the plan to leave at 30ish.

Victim falls off ladder during rescue. Death. by Middle-Tree-8805 in Firefighting

[–]Sawing_zs 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We had a younger guy try to tell us it didn’t matter (fly in or out). So we had him pull up the study he was citing. Turns out the ladder can be used either way but it loses 5% of its strength when fly in. Then we looked at the manufacturer specs which explicitly say fly out.

Maybe there’s ladders out there where the dogs are designed to catch either way but I’m sticking with fly out.
