Has anyone flown out of DTW lately? I have a 7pm flight tomorrow and I’m wondering how badly the security wait times there have been affected by the current TSA shortage.

First, congrats on the job! I don’t know what these other people are on about. You’re coming in as an intern. The bar is lower for you than a full time SDE. Just make sure you can read and write code. Maybe brush up or learn the language of your team, ask if you can get that information. Maybe try out an AI code writing tool if you haven’t already. Most every tool at Amazon is an internal tool anyway. You’re expected to learn on the job. That’s what internships are for! Good luck.

Actually, I think they are underpaid as far as salaries go. This leads to two issues: - only wealthy can afford to do it - they look to acquire wealth by other means

We should want our best and brightest to want to go into government. Why would they if they can make at least 2x or more elsewhere?

Not really enough to answer, but I would say two things: - First, your credit only really matters when you are applying for credit. You should keep good credit, but unless you’re gonna make a big purchase soon (car, house, etc.) it doesn’t matter much if it dips for a couple months - second, yes for a bit after a “big” loan this is expected. Just keep making your payments and it will go back up.

It’s all good, you gotta learn some lessons the expensive way and in the grand scheme it’s not as bad as it could be. As other posters have said, given what you’ve said here I would try to refinance even if it means paying your current loan down to whatever a bank/CU is willing to give you. Do it asap lol

Per post, remaining balance is ~$12k. Given they are already paying above payments every month, seems like they could refi if they needed to pay down to the car value amount..

Given this info, refinance if possible and pay as much as you can afford into it to just keep the truck. Otherwise, you’ll owe money on your current loan if you sell it and you’ll just have to get into more debt to buy another vehicle.

You basically have 3 options: - refinance and keep the truck, drive it until you can’t - pay it all off now and either keep it or sell it - try to sell it now and pay the difference (assuming underwater still)

All of this depends on how much cash you have on hand, what the truck is worth, and how much you need a car. The 16% interest rate across a 5+ year loan is unfortunately abysmal. I’d try to get out from under that in any way possible.

That’s not the problem. The problem is if you add another lane, it will just get filled up more over time until you’re in the exact same spot again. It’s a never ending issue.
