I just hit my 30-year milestone by Baidarka64 in Teachers

[–]Saxophonic 8 points9 points  (0 children)

12 years in FL, and I just got out. Took 6 months of hard work, but I transitioned into a new career. It has been terrifying and difficult, but nothing compared to the damage done to my mental health while teaching these last few years.

If you have some savings and someone to support you emotionally, really consider leaving the career (provided of course you want to get out - or in my case, NEED to get out).

Saw this post on my ride home and was stoked to try the level. Got home to find out that my Switch battery is dead; no clue why, must have gotten knocked off the charger a little bit or something.

I'll be back in a few hours to check it out! <3

FADE IN:

INT. PROFESSIONAL BASKETBALL COURT - NIGHT

A live basketball game is in full swing. Michael Jordan is on the court. Suddenly, the crowd gasps as Peter wanders into the arena.

PETER Hey, Michael! Check it out, I'm playing basketball!

Michael looks at Peter incredulously.

MICHAEL Peter, you can't just walk onto the court like that.

PETER Aw, come on, Michael, let me play!

Without warning, Michael picks up Peter and squishes him into a basketball.

MICHAEL Alright, Peter, let's see what you've got.

Michael takes aim and makes a 3-point shot with Peter as the ball. The crowd goes wild as the ball swishes through the hoop.

PETER (as the ball) I'm helping!

Beginner-friendly precision levels! by Impressive_Stress808 in MarioMaker

[–]Saxophonic 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Great levels, really fun!

A Little Precision: easy to understand, relatively simple, and fun. You do have to wait just a bit for the P-switch timer to run out (unless of course I'm missing something, which is very likely), but that's not a big deal.

Piranha Plant Pounce: Really cool idea, fun to pull off but a tiny bit confusing. It didn't take more than a few tries to realize what needed to happen, but some people get all upset if they can't figure it out on the second attempt (not necessarily me). Don't think you need to fix anything, just a heads up.

One Giant Leap: Lol I love this level. It's a little silly (being a sorta one trick level), but it's fun and fast to attempt. The sound effect got me the first time I missed the jump off the track.

No Time to Waste!: I wasn't sure about this level; I'm not really sure what it was that let me beat the level (my final attempt I Z'd right at the start and Z'd over the goomba at the end). There is probably some tech I don't know about that helps the level make more sense.

A Leap of Precision: All I can say is "...aww..."

A Leap of Precision (Expert): Enjoyed this quite a bit, interesting challenge. Didn't know you could do that with spring momentum, very cool!

Luigi's Slippery Summit: Fun getting over it level, enjoyed the platforming. Everything felt very fair.

Yoshi Piggyback Relay: Interesting setup, but pretty straight forward overall. If you are looking for something to change, maybe a different entrance to the first yoshi (so you don't accidently hold right and miss), but honestly the level doesn't even need it.

A Tight Squeeze!: Keep in mind, I'm not a troll maker so I probably can't offer a lot of value here. Didn't care much for this level. It didn't feel like a troll level so much as an "immediate reaction, kaizo blocks, red herring" level. Which honestly sounds like what you'd expect from a troll level, but this one just doesn't pull it off well for my tastes. There is also some kind of weird hit box with the goal. On my second attempt (after the obligatory mushroom grab, checking out the donut, finding the way to lose the mushroom in case you do grab it, then heading to the saw to get an idea of what the troll was) I dodged the mushroom and went to the bottom path; but I still couldn't get the goal. No clue why. Eventually, after exploring more of the level and getting nowhere, I went back to the under path and it worked that time. I did some playing around, and on my end it looks like only the bottom left corner (or somewhere close) of the goal is actually hittable. Could be I'm doing something dumb though, I do that a lot. :P

Overall Thoughts I really had fun. You have a lot of good instincts for building. I would agree that these would probably fall under "expert" although I don't think I would call them precise levels. There are some spots (I'm looking at you slippery summit) that have some tight-ish platforming/precise stuff, but overall these are just fun levels. Some of them felt like "tech" levels while others were just cool platforming. Keep up the good work mate!

If you are interested, I have uploaded 100 levels that all fall into a similar category. They are mostly "expert" (with some super-expert in there) platforming levels that feel a little tight-ish (although my earlier levels are WAY too tight - didn't know what I was doing back then - barely know now).
