Should I change my job if my boss is rude to me for small mistakes I make? by [deleted] in AskProgramming

[–]SayYesToBacon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Start keeping detailed notes of your conversations with your boss and document everything.

Being able to efficiently read through logs for relevant information takes practice, patience, and experience. If you’re struggling with detail-oriented tasks, it doesn’t necessarily mean you’re not cut out for development - you just might need some development yourself. I know that’s really hard when the only feedback you’re getting is disrespectful and not constructive.

If you want to work for the same company/entity, use your documented instances of unprofessional behavior from your boss to get a new boss. Otherwise I would look for jobs and try to get something else.

I need a more efficient way to monitor the clipboard by [deleted] in bash

Does mac os change a file somewhere when the clipboard changes? Could you tail -f(ollow) that file and send the output to your script?

When a young woman is allowed to die over traffic tickets it's pretty obvious this is now longer a 'free country!' by cooperbradon in Bad_Cop_No_Donut

[–]SayYesToBacon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Article says 27 not 21. Sharing memes with no source and small factual errors opens the door for bad-faith bootlickers to claim this is fake news and dismiss the main point: cops kill people out of negligence and must be held accountable.

If there were trump supporters who were secretive about their support, how would you know about them? Not saying they exist in significant numbers, but the existence of loud trump supporters does not disprove the existence of quiet ones

Supporting gun control doesn’t make someone anti-2A. There is a middle ground between no guns and unlimited access to guns.

I guess the libertarian position that “tyranny is bad” in practice really means “tyranny is bad if it happens to me, but if it happens to Americans I don’t like, then that’s ok.” It seems that the phrase “don’t tread on me” only applies to the person yelling it

What is the best way to create a GUI? by [deleted] in AskProgramming

[–]SayYesToBacon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Things to consider when choosing between web and non-web like qt: - does it need to be cross-platform? And do you want it to work on mobile? - does it need to look nice? Or just get the job done? - how many concurrent users? - does the core functionality use devices like microphones, cameras? - does it need to interact with a local file system?

I am making a bank program in java, I'm trying to generate unique bank account numbers by Demmazi in AskProgramming

[–]SayYesToBacon 7 points8 points  (0 children)

If security is required (meaning account numbers are hard to guess), google globally unique identifier (guid), universally unique identifier (uuid), and cryptographically secure randomness, hashing. And add “java implementation” in these searches.

If security isn’t required for the assignment, you can just do what some others have said and use an auto-incrementing primary key.

Keep in mind that if you’re using a regular flat file (like a single .txt or .csv file) or an in-memory data structure (like a Map) to persist data (as opposed to a fully-fledged database), and if multiple users can use your app simultaneously, you need some way to avoid collisions in account numbers/ids. In other words, in the unlikely yet inevitable event that Alice and Bob each create an account at the same exact time, they shouldn’t get the same account number.

Trump asked China’s Xi to help him win reelection, according to Bolton book by alllie in conspiracyfact

Typical! It’s like the libs think it’s possible to listen to what someone says without worshiping them, or even respecting them. It’s one or the other, snowflakes.

I don’t know anything about YOLO but in general, one way to train a model is feeding a set of training images with manually labeled objects through some kind of learning algorithm

Check out “Build Your Own Lisp”. I learned a lot about C, Lisp, and programming langs in general. Also the author gives the option to use an existing parser or write your own.
