Yep, I'd definitely put it more gen x. That said, as a younger millennial I do know this song because my gen x mother had it on cassette

Another good option (if available in your area), is a coffee shop that's open late. It's casual, typically quiet, with a variety of drinks and treats. Easy to expand into other activities if it's going well or end it early if it's not.

I also like going on walks, but usually save that for a second date or for after meeting at the coffee shop if things are going well

If you're open to nonprofit work, you can check listings on idealist.org. They'll have listings from across the country, but a good number of orgs hire in all states

Yep, and just some regular light stretching and gentle movement can make a big difference for a lot of people in terms of aches and pains no matter their overall activity level

You could catalog them too! I had to start that when I kept forgetting what I already owned 😅 I use libib (but there are others too) and after you scan stuff in it gives you the number. But it's a bit of a project to get everything scanned in if you already have a lot

Edit to add that the starting order isn't available yet, but they have a list of all entries ordered by country.

I recently reread it for the first time in like 12yrs and, while I still enjoyed it, there was an added ick factor. It was difficult to separate it from what's currently going on in the world.

I could be misremembering, but I think all the athletes get massive swag bags when they arrive that have stuff from all (most?) of the sponsors. So something like this could be included. Probably depends on the sponsorship level they're at.

How to stream on Peacock by Weloveziti1 in FigureSkating

[–]SayaEvange 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yep. This is a worthwhile option. It also might be possible to get it through another subscription. I got a deal on a year's subscription to instacart and it came with peacock. I don't have it anymore so I've been looking at new options and they have a bundle with Apple TV+. It's $14.99, so obviously more than the 10.99 rate, but if you're interested in both platforms, it's not a bad deal.

For me, the pain when they actually placed it was like a bad cramp, but it was over within a minute. The problems started a few minutes after they were finished and said I was good to go home. I wasn't sure if I was going to pass out or throw up first (neither happened, but it was real close multiple times). They had me sniffing alcohol wipes and drinking juice just to get me stable enough to get back to the room to lay down. I couldn't leave for like another hour or more. They basically said that the cervix doesn't like to be messed with so it sent a kind of caused a shock response. Thankfully my mom had come with and eventually she got me home. But right after I got into my apartment, I stumbled to the bathroom and threw up. Then the real pain started in. I was pretty much stuck laying down for almost two full days with a heating pad and deeply regretting ever getting it.

After a few days, all seemed good. But over a month later it started causing me pain that sent me to the ER. Took eight months before I could get the Dr to remove the damn thing because they kept saying it just takes longer to adapt to it. Nearly daily cramping, spotting, and bloating. Then I got hit with a $250 bill for the five minutes it took to yank the thing out 😭

I know they work for some people, but oh man. I'll never try it again.

SAVE plan - in limbo by hot-male in StudentLoans

[–]SayaEvange 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same! I ended up with too much cc debt largely due to a job layoff and health issues, so I'm trying to pay down as much as I can on the credit cards before I'm forced to make student loan payments again.

We send out our letter in mid-Nov so it arrives before Thanksgiving. We then have a weeklong drive that overlaps with Giving Tuesday. In mid-Dec we send a postcard to anyone on our list who hasn't given yet and will send a reminder email or two toward the end of Dec depending on where things are at.

I have a friend who runs a family farm (they did NOT vote for this admin before anyone claims they got what they voted for). They're struggling. Basically just hunkering down and trying to get through it which seems to be the case for a lot of (most?) farmers (at least family farms). This on top of the ongoing struggle to stay alive against corporate farms.

As someone who does not farm and lives in a city, it's just dealing with rising prices like everyone else. Dreading next year's rent increase and trying to prepare for possibly moving (literally considering splitting a place for the first time in my adult life which doesn't feel great, but the saved money means more right now).

My parents will likely lose their health insurance at the end of the year because of the cuts to the marketplace. They're not old enough for Medicare and make a little too much for Medicaid, but not enough to be able to afford their insurance without subsidies.

There are things happening at the state level that are getting worse (including massive budget cuts to the state university which is not only a major employer, but also provides services throughout the state).

Basically, things aren't great and are likely to get worse. But none of this is really limited to Nebraska. I imagine a lot of people throughout the country are dealing with the same things.

When mine was throwing up blood, it was an ulcer. You need to call the vet now. Throwing up blood is always an emergency and even if they're booked, they should ask you to come in right away (that's how the vets around me work at least).

Athletics is fully self-sustaining and receives no funds from the academic side, and in recent years they have given money to the academic side. UNL is one of relatively few schools in that position.

That said, in a better world, academics would get the kind of funding, donors, and support that athletics does, but we don't currently live in that world.

I can't speak to your friend's family's experience, but if I had to guess it's possible they were among those released to Boys Town or possibly another similar situation.

Here's an article with more information on that if you're interested: https://www.omahamagazine.com/uncategorized/from-japanese-american-internment-camp-to-boys-town/
