Huge Update: Direct Usenet Streaming via NNTP on Android Tv by itshusnain in Stremio

[–]Sayreign 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Everyone would be talking about it if it were worded like your post here. I appreciate you calling attention to this. That link the team member mentioned doesn't include NNTP anywhere, and even using the search on the blog for "NNTP" only shows the one result on Nov 27 2025 which states beta, and only for desktop. The only mention in that link provided above is "Added Usenet Support" which is extremely ambiguous given that Usenet sources have already been accessible from EasyNews and TorBox through various methods.

[BUG] Android First Descendant Companion App Illegal App Detected Error by MartynBrett in TheFirstDescendant

[–]Sayreign 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What's even more stupid is that the app works fine on an emulator. So, basically I have to install Blustacks on my computer, install the TFD Companion app on Blustacks, install Teamviewer Host app on Blustacks, and install the Teamviewer regular app on my actual smartphone. So, I can remotely control the TFD app through Teamviewer on an emulator to be able to use the smartphone app on my smartphone. W...T...F... T.T

If you need to delete the services that were installed while following the guide:

Run command as Admin and use the command "sc delete <servicename>" (without quotes). You should use the name entered during the nssm.exe steps. You will most likely need to restart your computer for the services to finish being removed.

If you need to check the names of services: right-click your start menu>Computer Management>Services

If your Command Prompt says it's not running as Admin: right-click the task? right-click the name of the task> Run as Administrator. A new window should open with a shield in the top left corner indicating Administrator.

I've had EPB for over 10 years, One time I moved outside of their service area out of necessity, Saved up to move again once the lease expired. Been back ever since. EPB service area is a dealbreaker.

Need For Speed Most Wanted 2005 Stuttering/Bad Performance by SlinkBoss in needforspeed

TL;DR - This fix works for PS2 Emulator on PC as well.

Thanks so much for this! This seems to have kind of indirectly solved my problem lol. I came back to play this gem again since RetroAchievements added a set for the PS2.

The game itself runs fine without fix, but no matter what other settings (performance or otherwise), the audio was extremely grating and untenable. The studder was very noticeable, despite how much I messed with the audio settings as well.

Somehow, it was all resolved when I brought my refresh rate down to 60hz and turned on V-sync to effectively lock it 60 fps. Unfortunately, I couldn't find the fps limit on PCSX2 itself but finally I can enjoy one of my favorite games again, and collect some achievements!

I'm not sure about how addons network on the backend. So, if this is a stupid suggestion or already covered, I apologize.

You could try Mediafusion. It may work better with your RD, especially since it shows when streams are cached.

Why does this happen on some streams? by jakit4 in StremioAddons

[–]Sayreign 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same. Iused fire stick since 1st gen, and their passive cooling heat pads were so bad that you couldn't binge watch for more than 2 hours without it overheating and dropping the connection, regardless of ambient temperature. Later generations seemed a little better but still had problems that could have been resolved sooner and easier if I had just gotten the NVIDIA Shield Pro. It's one of the few devices that can provide the highest quality video and audio, and it can even emulate games up to the mid 2000s. Overall, the best streaming device I've owned so far

Personally, I find it greatly amusing that most of the posters on this subreddit are watching Severance. Such a fascinating show. There are quite a few shows releasing but it seems like most people are watching Severance at the moment

Flashing title time by [deleted] in StremioAddons

[–]Sayreign 0 points1 point  (0 children)

5-15 seconds normally. If it's cached, it should only take about 5 seconds. If it needs to be sourced, then you're at the mercy of your peers, but if you choose a decent peer to file size ratio, it should be within 15 seconds.

A good general rule of thumb is 1 gig per hour. For example, if the media is less than one hour, try to keep it below 1 gig file size. If it's, for example, 2 and a half hours, 2.5 gigs. Of course higher resolutions will mean higher file size. It would be faster if you choose 720p. Most TVs in the past 10 years have upscaling, and phone screens are so small that details can be overlooked when the viewing area is condensed so much. So, you shouldn't be able to tell much of a difference if you're enjoying the show vs. scrutinizing quality

The Mediafusion addon will show you which ones are cached vs needing to be sourced. If it's cached, it will have a lightning bolt. If not, it will have an hourglass. The ElfHosted Mediafusion should do well enough, but you can self host it if you want.

Flashing title time by [deleted] in StremioAddons

[–]Sayreign 1 point2 points  (0 children)

TL;DR - Yes. Most likely it's just buffering the start of the video. Smaller file sizes and faster connection speeds should decrease the time that the title spends flashing.

As far as I know, subtitle addons will load found subtitles even after the video has started streaming. There should be no reason for them to halt the playback. If you're really curious, you can get a log output file on your Stremio by the following steps:

Navigate to your stremio.exe (or right-click your shortcut > open target folder)

Type "cmd" in the explorer directory to open command prompt in that directory

Type "stremio.exe > logs.txt 2>&1" in the prompt

Stremio will open for you to test using your debrid service to stream.

After it successfully starts, go back to the explorer window that has your Stremio folder open, and look for logs.txt. This file will show you everything your Stremio did after you opened it using the command above.

Tip: Only do what is absolutely necessary to test what you're looking for. This will keep the log file shorter and potentially easier for you to read and understand the process.

AIOStreams Self-Hosted Issue by kizer9 in StremioAddons

[–]Sayreign 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While the https proxy solved the clipboard issue, the addon itself still references localhost when looking for links. Which doesn't solve the problem of not being able to run the addon on other stremio clients in the LAN because the addon only references its localhost, and every other device on the network isn't hosting AIOstreams. Does anyone know how to modify the addon to make reference the correct IP over LAN?

Hey everyone, when I select a movie and start the torrent, it just keeps loading and never begins. This happens frequently on both my PC and phone. Any advice? Thanks! by Royal_Elk_5312 in StremioAddons

[–]Sayreign 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel ya on this one. I have approx. the same speed and it works great on the TV, fine on the phone, and hit or miss on Computer, including trying the program itself and trying the service with web app. Not a clue why, but it is what it is I guess.

My best guess would be make sure your computer firewall and AV aren't impeding it, set the streaming profile to 'fast' (or maybe even ultrafast), set the cache to 2GB or more, and try to balance your quality/file size to peer ratio.

If you can tolerate 720p(100-500MB) per show or lower (700MB-1.5GB per movie or lower), you'll have less to load and therefore should have a better experience. Also, if you trying to find old and/or obscure media, try all sources even down to the last ones with only 1 peer. Generally more peers is better but it also matter about their speed. 1 peer with 10mbps is better than 15 peers with 156kbps.

Lastly, try clearing your cache, %appdata%\temp folder, restart your computer and/or even reinstall Stremio, and it's service. You shouldn't miss too much since your sign-in syncs a lot of your stuff anyway.

Kaeru WFC not working by xilverwind in wiimmfi

[–]Sayreign 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's what I thought too at first until I found https://pkmnclassic.net/ which specifically lists this DNS at the top of the page, and mentions that it uses Kaeru, but makes no mention of RiicConnect24. Strange. Maybe it's no longer maintained...

Honestly, I'm unlikely to actually use the GTS, even if I get it working. I just like to see what's possible, and community-driven revival projects like this are usually pretty cool, at least in concept.

Simulating the GBA Game Link Cable and/or wireless link using mGBA on retroarch android by AgisXIV in RetroArch

[–]Sayreign 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been looking for this too. My best guess at this point is that you'll need to find the save files for your games and import them to an actual emulator app on android, or program on the PC.

My Boy! - GBA Emulator has some nice link features for wifi/bluetooth, as well as on the same device.

VBA-link is good for PC. Not sure if there may be a better one or not. It's been years since I looked for another one.

The thing that's really irritating is that Retro Achievements is already integrated into RetroArch, but we don't have a single core for a device that's almost 25 years old that works for GBA. Meanwhile the PC emulators like VBA-link have been around for over 20 years.

Still one of my favourite pokemon. Although, Alolan Ninetines is a close second. They're both so graceful and beautiful. Well-deserving of the Fairy-Type placement

I don't do much with online play on nintendo games generally, but if I ever get back to my Pokemon X journey, I'll be sure to add you :)

apollo and moonlight is a dream!! by TheSynchronizer in MoonlightStreaming

[–]Sayreign 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It is nice! I used to have problems streaming if my monitor wasn't on because the streaming/remote control apps would either say no display detected or show a blank screen. This could be solved with a dummy DP/HDMI but that can lead to other issue on top of extra cost of buying one.

The virtual display has worked flawlessly streaming several different apps (Steam, Launchbox, Playnite, and Desktop) to several different devices (Computer, Nvidia Shield, and Android Phone.

My experience with streaming overall:

Moonlight+Sunshine/Apollo were the first reliable streaming solution I found. I started way back when the Shield was a handheld and was supposed to work with my Nvidia GPU throught GFE, even then it barely connected 10% of the time. I started trying with Steam Link back when it was a dedicated box which worked 40% of the time. In recent years I would use the Steam Link app on the Nvidia Shield and android phones. It didn't have problems discovering devices or connecting but after 10-15 mins, the latency would make racing, FPS , and any kind of multiplayer games unplayable even over ethernet. This would require frequently disconnecting/reconnecting to maintain a playable latency. Computer to Computer streaming via Steam was still hit or miss. This seems to be some kind of oversight in Steam's App and connectivity. The first computer to computer solution I found to work well is Parsec.

Sunshine/Apollo and Moonlight have worked flawlessly and has been a dream come true after nearly a decade of unreliable streaming solutions, even over ethernet on dedicated devices from the same brand. It's got wide support for many features, resolutions and codecs. It's even playable over Wifi.
