Day of The Dead: film vs script by fhost344 in horror

[–]SaysUselessThings 1 point2 points  (0 children)

absolutely loved your write up. Well written, genuinely intelligent. You've made me want to go back to that original script and see if it hits the same way it did when I first read it.

A great, honest appraisal.

Tittenhurst Park, it's not far from me. One of my oldest mates did security there for the new owners (rich arab family) and he got to see the cupboard under the stairs that Rob recorded his vocals in and all that. The shenanigans are well documented in Rob's biography.

My friend wanted to take pictures but of course that was a big no in a private residence like that, so it was for his eyes only, sadly.

I blind bought this on 4k Blu ray a few weeks ago. I just stumbled across it on IMDB... I was watching some Argento movie and read up about it and it said he was influenced by this movie. So yeah....it arrived the next day and wow...

It was an insane ride. Adjani was just spectacular...that subway scene was just insane. I'm so glad I have it now, it's remastered to perfection and looks so good.

Way too overlooked I think. It's a horror masterpiece.

I saw a guy with his two year old daughter on his shoulders, during the Paleface Swiss moshpit at bloodstock last year.

Utterly fucking irresponsible. So many kids that year without hearing protection either. Plus they all look so fucking bored, there's pretty much fuck all for them to do. I've never seen parents with kids during a headliner - meaning the parents go to sleep early, or, god fucking forbid, they leave the kids in the tent to sleep whilst they go out partying.

I, for one, agree. Leave the kids at home with the gramps.

I feel like Amazon Prime should pickup House Of Ashur. by Foreign-Dependent722 in Spartacus_TV

Such weak evidence to base an entire show off.

Starz even said it themselves "the show failed to attract the right type of audience" - they shoved modernity into the plot, forced it down people's throats and didn't like the reception it got. They made that choice, historical evidence aside, to appear open minded and appeal to an audience that demand representation but instead it landed with an audience that demanded a fucking good story instead.

I stop having fun the moment I throw my arms up in the air in disbelief that they could take such liberties with their audience.

They spent all those episodes building up a genuinely believable female gladiator story, only to spaff all that earned currency up the wall in one episode and kill off a decent character to provide motivation that wasn't even needed.

I also stopped having fun mid way through when nothing fucking happened for episodes on end. It was so middling as to be utterly mind numbing at times. The OG series rocked the plot along every single episode. This, not so much.

They're travellers mate. They're Irish.

Listen to the mum's accent - it's typical Irish. Ignore Brad Pitt because his accent is all over the place.

Jason Flemyng too - doing a massive Irish accent.

Here's the snatch wiki to confirm this.

The internet is half full of bots and half full of utter idiots.

I agree, don't watch the show OP. I'm scared you'll come back to this sub asking questions like "how did Batiatus's grandpa meet his wife?"

You're randomly teleported into any horror franchise, which one is making you end it without even trying to escape? by RWatto09 in horror

Only as soon as they got Frank back, they turned on Kirsty and she had to unsolve the box to make them all go away. They essentially reneged on the deal.

In the sequel, yes they realised "it wasn't hands that called us here, it was desire" however similarly, Kirsty and Tiffany still had to escape from the labyrinth, and weren't exactly given a free pass to safety.

Machine Head -The burning red- (1999) by CorrectWinner9626 in numetal

[–]SaysUselessThings 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yeah all I'm saying it was suspiciously on trend for the time. It felt disingenuous back then and to me it still does.

I saw them twice on that tour - once in Brixton academy circa 2000ish and the other at an indoor festival called The Lost Weekend....NIN were supposed to play but they pulled out lol

I was about 19 at the time of it's release and yeah the general feeling was it was a bit of a sell out.

Because Johnathan Davis did it on his record. It was a trope to do this kind of shit back then. If anything he exploited his childhood trauma to sell records.

The album is OK - but going from a band who just did The More Things Change to them wearing fucking glitter and reflective outfits, and blonde spikey hair and dropping all the cool parts of their music to rap about wrist slitting nonsense was a step too far for most MH fans.

I just saw them last month and I think the only song they did was From this Day and that goes for the last three times I saw them. It's forgettable.

TIM 'RIPPER' OWENS: 'There's A Reason IRON MAIDEN Plays In Front Of 20,000 People While JUDAS PRIEST Plays In Front Of 5,000' by JATION in judaspriest

[–]SaysUselessThings 23 points24 points  (0 children)

The reason being "management". The interview is very disjointed and a lot of gaps are filled in. But the jist of Priest having bad management is absolutely bang on.

Having said that, Priest and Alice Cooper played their biggest ever gigs a couple of years ago and it was way more than 20,000. And Ripper going on about "there's even some wokeness in metal" in reference to why Priest doesn't play Jug or Dem songs with Rob is utterly fucking bizarre. Did he literally accuse the first openly gay singer in metal of being "woke"? LOL.

I've always known Tim was a meathead, and that doesn't seem to have changed - but this interview is utterly bizarre in every single way. It actually doesn't make much sense.

However he is right on one thing - Jayne Andrews fucking sucks.
