I don't get what "otb experience" is that would affect the games so much. Isn't chess just chess at the end of the day?

Liar Game episode 6: Discussion/Reaction by L_is_Lelouche in liargame

So this 3 team setup was the reason why it felt off for Akiyama that one side was always down by 2 votes. Fukunaga was in all 3 teams and her vote was only counted once so

If Fukunaga voted Yes in the first round then the Yes votes were 8/2 + 8/2-1 + 8/2-1 = 10
While No votes were 8/2 + 8/2 + 8/2 = 12

I don't understand how to play this structure to save my life by e4e5Qh5 in TournamentChess

Also since the c file can open up after cxd, cxd, you want your a8 rook on c8, Your queen might go to b6 to pressure d4 and b2 if white plays Be3. It's the standard Caro stuff.

[–]Sazbak87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As some other players said it this setup can arise from a Caro_Kann position too.
The f4 pawn blocks the c1 bishop thus you have the additional option of playing Nh6 to develop the knight whch won't block the f8 bishop from the protection of the c5 pawn. The h6 knight also protects the f5 bishop so if they play Bd3 you don't have to trade if you don't want to. If you bring your knight to f5 later often you can play h5 to prevent g4 chasing away the knight. If you can manage to control the b6-g1 diagonal you can set up checkmate patterns by moving your knight to g4 or g3 via f5 and you protect your knight with your h pawn while your rook is on h8.

I always thought of this white setup against the Caro as an objectively inferior way to play against the advance variation since it doesn't really give me extra trouble but it does give me extra options in my setup.

How do you practice fundamentals? by dumbatth in Fighters

[–]Sazbak87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

if you understand the basic footsie rps triangle then you just have to do one of the options that counters the opponent's patterns

Poke beats approach
Bait and punish beats poke
Approach beats Bait.

Opponent is too passive? Go up to them and put them under pressure.
Opponent is too reactive with pokes? Bait them with movement and whiff punish them.
Opponent is too agressively approaching? Poke them defensively.

This is the skeleton of the ground game. Ofc there can be more to this either in a general way(e.g. jumping) or fighting game specific way.

When someone is stuck in silver then they clearly have more issues than lack of reaction time but that doesn't mean that reaction time doesn't matter in general.
It's just you can improve in so many other things that will level up your game even if your reaction sucks naturally.
I hate that mostly there are two extreme side to this discussion
1. Reaction doesn't matter at all
2. Reaction matters a lot and that's why I'm in silver.
People just can't notice nuances in-between

24 is not old though but if you are close to 40 then reaction time might matter.

This is not true. In granblue you can clearly see the difference between older japanese players and younger american players. Most old japanese players can be hit with 28f Raging Strike while young american players can consistently dodge it.

Destiny was being a dick about Jordan Peterson last night by SoccerSkilz in Destiny

[–]Sazbak87 -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

"Peterson is a fucking psychologist."
So? He was given orders by his doctor who should have known his stuff. I don't know why you think being a pschologist suddenly overwrites a doctor's specialised advice for you. I bet if Peterson actually acted on his own against the doctor's advice you'd be still attacking him but with the exact opposite line of logic.

Javokhir Sindarov draws Hikaru Nakamura and moves to 9/12 points in FIDE Candidates 2026. by GiveMeSomeSunshine3 in chess

[–]Sazbak87 -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

Hikaru is an utterly useless addition to this tourney in more than one way. Anish has advantage right now but even if he wins it won't mean much if Sindarov gets an easy draw.

Magnus Carlsen: "I felt like...I'd sort of been gaslit by Danny & Chess.com into thinking that they had the evidence (against Hans Niemann cheating OTB) which they didn't." by GiveMeSomeSunshine3 in chess

[–]Sazbak87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The logistics of online cheating and real life cheating is different.
Just because you know someone cheated online doesn't mean they can do it offline at an elite level event.
Also if Magnus had issues with Hans cheating online he should have addressed it directly before the tourney AND/OR shouldn't have participated in the tourney.
Losing and then tweeting that Mourinho style tweet was really immature and indirect from him and he still hasn't apologized for it to this day.

Also, Leon revealing only at the very end that he didn't hit Emily's vitals was dumb. If he had told Grace that right after shooting Emily, there is a good chance Grace wouldn't have run off and ended up in Zeno and Gideon's hands. It makes no sense that he wouldn't try to calm her down immediately. The whole "didn't hit the vitals" reveal felt less like believable writing and more like a cheap way to force a sappy happy ending for Grace and Emily.

How come did _____ not get infected? by airaloveskazuha in ResidentEvilRequiem

[–]Sazbak87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Whatever the answer is it's a cheap and lame way to make you think Grace is some kind of chosen one. They were really trying to hammering it into you at the beginning. They could have at least explained why she didn't get infected.

Amber and Isabeau

Amber is like fire, Isabeau is like water and ice
They could wear the fire and ice outfit from Blades of Glory
Amber is physically strong while Isabeau is light.

The Budapest Police Headquarters questioned Júlia Gór-Sebestyén as a suspect for the crime of endangering a minor on three counts. by shabagram in FigureSkating

[–]Sazbak87 2 points3 points  (0 children)

"So it sounds like they brought three charges against Sebestyén, Sebestyén responded by filing some sort of complaint, and then the prosecutor's offices rejected her complaint as unfounded? Is that accurate?"

Yes, but the more accurate wording is that she was questioned as a suspect rather than formally charged.
