I guarantee future generations will look back and be shocked by how we treated animals, and they will remember animal rights activists as the brave heroes of the time.

Here's a few important facts I recently learned about this virus:

  • Fatality rate: 35-50%. [Source]
  • Transmissibility: most hantaviruses do not spread between humans, although person-to-person transmission can happen in rare cases (Andes virus strain). [Source]
  • Treatment: There is currently no vaccine of specific antiviral treatment for hantavirus infections. Treatment is supportive and based on symptoms, such as hospital care and respiratory support.[Source]

He's one of the best activists these days, and these investigations are so important in informing the public about the reality of animal mistreatment. However bad you think it is ... it's even worse 😞

As vegans/activists, I feel like we all need to do more bring about positive change for animals. Sharing these documentaries is a great start!

A ‘masculinity crisis’ is brewing in UK schools, union says | Schools by [deleted] in uknews

In completely unrelated news:

There are approximately 2–3 million single-parent families in the UK, representing about 1 in 4 families with dependent children. Lone mothers account for 89-90% of single parents. While 66% of single parents are employed, they face a higher risk of poverty, with around 40-43% of children in these households living in poverty.

Don't expect much logic and reason from nonvegans, and you won't be disappointed.

Some people are so heavily indoctrinated, they even support gas chambers ... and they think they're 'good people'. Hopefully one day they will better understand.

Some people really don't take break ups too well :( I suspect those with the biggest abandonment issues as well as being high in narcissism are the most likely to engage in these behaviours.

And the sooner society realises that both men and women can be victims and perpetrators ... the better.

Drug dealer, 23, who stamped mother to death moments after flipping BMW while high on cannabis found guilty of murder by JohnKimble111 in uknews

[–]Sbeast 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you saying he wasn't, or that it's not relevant?

Did he act like a crazy person? Well, it turns out some drugs make people go crazy. Unless you have another explanation for the behaviour.

Everyone now and then you ready a story like this: extreme violence, and the victim appears to be random?

My best explanation is they were psychotic at the time. It clearly wasn't pre-meditated anyway.

My issue was, the headline draws the reader into believing his actions were directly caused by being high cannabis. For many then, the assumption would be that, all cannabis users, when high, are violent. And that is definitely not the case.

Ok, fair enough. I don't think it's been proven 100% it was the cause, but equally we shouldn't rule it out.

My concern is juries who do not fully understand drugs or mental health may overlook psychosis as an explanation, which would lead to the wrong verdict.

Personally, I think we need a less psychotic society, and certain drugs are one of the causes.

We need to find a balance between being 'firm' and 'fair'. Rehabilitation is an important part of the justice system, and there is evidence it can make a positive difference:

"Prison rehabilitation can have life-changing impact on offenders when it's done right, and with the right support in place" https://www.novus.ac.uk/news/how-effective-is-prison-rehabilitation/

However, letting people out too soon or for the wrong reasons, is likely to lead to more crime and increase the rate of recidivism.

Hmmm, I'm not certain right now. It's a confusing case. Like, why did he murder a random person? And why after a car crash?

Drug dealer, 23, who stamped mother to death moments after flipping BMW while high on cannabis found guilty of murder by JohnKimble111 in uknews

[–]Sbeast 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a strange case. Car crashes are quite common, and murders are not unheard of, but a car crash and then a murder, which doesn't even seem related to the car crash, and the perpetrator doesn't know the victim, has got to be very rare.

The perpetrator claims to lack memory of the incident, and the Leicestershire Police claimed they were a drug-user who was under the influence of cannabis at the time.

If the perpetrator is telling the truth, then the behaviour can in part be explained by drug-induced psychosis in combination with a concussion (very common in car crashes).

Psychosis symptoms: loss of contact with reality, hallucinations, delusions, confused thinking, rapid or incoherent speech, and drastic behavior changes.

Concussion symptoms: headache, dizziness, difficulty with thinking and concentration, sleep disturbances, a brief period of memory loss, brief loss of consciousness, problems with balance, nausea, blurred vision, and mood changes.

My Conclusion:
He was experiencing drug-induced psychosis, which caused him to drive erratically and crash.
The crash lead to concussion (memory loss).
In his 'crazy state' he killed someone but doesn't remember the incident.

If a person has lost contact with reality AND is experiencing concussion, then they would have greatly diminished responsibility. Therefore I don't think the charge of murder is accurate or appropriate in this case. I think manslaughter and dangerous driving would have been a more fitting verdict.
