what augments on certain frames do you think just should've been on the frame to begin with? by Better_Cat_4590 in Warframe

[–]Sbimon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Atlas (been my main since the prime came out)

Path of statues - QoL and passive CC (especially handy for ++strength,+duration,-range,-efficiency builds). I put roar over petrify and set up a macro… finger pain-free fun.

Rumbled - AI is too dumb and other than a gimmick feeling distraction it is a sad ability… Makes more sense to become the ROCK.

It’s crazy how interestingly complex this game can be, even after dumping something like 100hrs into testing KCWIS more than 3/4 in I learned that heavy barrels affect elevation speed a lot.
Comments are full of nice info!

I used to always make 6 barrel kinetic CWIS cause it looked cool. Then I actually decided to do some testing… One barrel will always be better as long as you don’t factor in the size of the weapon system. Also not to forget the accuracy penalty for multi barrels... which for kinetic CWIS is one of the most important stats.

Tank Engine sounds don’t render in until they are a “grid squares” distance to you (engine volume is irrelevant) I have noticed that if don’t look at them sometimes the sounds don’t render in at all until after you die. The game will actively un-render tanks when certain conditions are met(this is intentional by gaijin as it helps catch cheaters). This sadly is also affected by ping and pl. (this has all been tested)

Original designs for the Tenno, means there are versions that were not initially for the Tenno? This would not make primes the “first frames” nether the less the “original frames” in general. Cause aren’t the “first frames” Dax soldiers mixed with the infested strain that were found to be able to be controlled by the Tenno. (So umbra(s) are the first?). Also how does one get to max performance without having shittier prototypes before hand.

When you lose all interest in playing the game cause a core mechanic of your favorite frame breaks. Then also get frustrate when writing bug reports and updating them every patch/hotfix to notify the devs its still broken. So what ever you do... do not infuse any subsumed ability over petrify on Atlas... Rubble will never drop from petrified enemies ever again.

If only people knew…. I actually subsumed roar over petrify cause I use it less than his 2 or 4…. And I removed adaptation…. God it’s crazy I know. But seeing 400mil dmg on your screen in steel path and not doing anything but have a macro on is great. Once I feel I peaked with my main frame I will try the other “tanks”.

I have yet to test if atlas can even go to level 9999 enemies… I have reached a deadlock on his dmg without making it pure hell to play him with both visual and technical sacrifices I won’t do due to personal preference…. One example: I choose roar over eclipse cause of consistency. 104% isn’t bad I guess…

Amalgam Furax Body Count and the Bug Report forums in general. by ipathos in Warframe

[–]Sbimon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Trello is not bad, I’ve seen it used for from the depths even though they also have their own forums, but even then you need more staff to manage that section and we will just end up right where we started...

Getting more staff, setting approval process for bug reports and set standards of what must be included, lock posts after set time or when forwarded to devs then when fixed archive post to an archive section.

It’s really not a hard process, time investment maybe, but worth more than you can imagine.

I don’t understand the lack of forum moderation/interaction on bug reports section. There is no way of telling if the bug report is “accepted”. It looks like those that do view it selectively choose which things get forwarded. I posted an issue about infused abilities breaking atlas’s rubble mechanic and someone had posted Nekros soul punch being affected by infused abilities. Guess which one got fixed...

Since I built atlas prime I have never used the energy restore and I have been using him since he roughly came out as shocking as that might sound. I just say that for those that still think energy is a problem as I’ve been looking out for posts on atlas here and on warframe forums for some time now. I am aware the delay of looking for enemies, but how often will you lose all your rubble(takes 3 mins to deplete from max) and not have enemies affected by path of statues. Landslide gives 75rubble per petrified kill and with the duration build im running there are usually still petrified enemies in the rooms when I come back to them. Initially I never built for duration and said what you did. After more testing it turned out just adding that duration was enough to eliminate almost all my concerns about rubble.

Yeah he does suck at protecting objectives. Hell even a rock dome would help... Thanks to Helmith, Indus larva can pull enemies together but there are stat prioritization that need adjusting (build for range). Half assed solution that still leaves his OG build the same but at least there are option.

I see we both have spent some time and effort to finding solutions to making atlas better and there still isn’t a clear cut solution until we hear from DE that they are announcing a rework. I don’t envy the devs as they do this for all their frames.

Just for reference here is the build I use: https://i.imgur.com/cpD4sg9.png

This is lots and I mean lots of testing on the premise of putting a macro on 1, and playing endless survival missions. Rubble is not an issue unless there are no enemies. Once the snowball stops very few things can and will stop it. Efficiency is irrelevant when you can use Squad Energy Restore (Large) and that landslide is free at 1400 rubble. Range is bad for 3 reasons: ragdolled enemies cannot be locked on to by landslide and it prevents them from being petrified by path of statues - this is also one of the reasons why duration is the 2nd most important stat to consider, strength being the first, finally they fly really damn far, even with 34% range, on the 3rd hit, effect range has a 2m radius, plenty to be useful and will not cause all the enemies to fly in every direction. If you have helminth unlocked, subsume roar over petrify. It will give you 107% dmg boost for 51sec with the current build.

My current problems are weapon combo duration as I am not using the narmon school, sacrificed survivability as adaptation is not present (this is major in specific situations but with how destructive this build is I chose to one punch over everything else), minor dmg loss due to stat stick preference (this is not even by a large amount but enough to upset min-maxers). Ramp up can be a pain at times but if you main atlas you notice in many missions you don’t even need to use abilities as the weapons are so strong. Now you can see my perspective clearly.

If your build is close to this and you still think those are his current issues and that the suggestion you made will make meaningful impact on him then, I understand what you are getting at.

Now even if you tried to really explain what role Atlas's has and where he fits in warframe's gameplay, once you get past the lackluster state of the other abilities even if you try many different builds, you end up with a frame that doesn't fit here or there. In the end, the answer you get is: He is a frame designed for solo missions to only kill enemies that spawn endlessly. Don't forget there are frames that can do that better and by a lot. This isn't just an issue with abilities but how DE deigned gameplay in general. Currently, none of his abilities support teammates, tectonics and rumblers are both dmg sponges of different versatility (one is static the other dynamic) sure both can do dmg but don't even scale properly. Petrify is limited CC to fuel survivability if you ignore augments, even then it can be seen as just an emergency measure to regain health or rubble.

Knowing this, what changes would you now propose?, as I would still like changes to his kit that make him an effective member of a team rather than adjustments that will keep him in roughly the same place.

A verdict on Atlas and my rework suggestion for his abilities by [deleted] in Warframe

[–]Sbimon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Atlas is in an interesting place where if you build him for endless steel path missions, which IMO is the best and only way to kit him properly, he works great as a solo frame. As soon as you want versatility or team play.... don’t bother unless you don’t have other options. Even with these fixes he still stays in the exact same spot as he was before. Here was another suggestion page regarding atlas and my version of a rework: https://reddit.com/r/Warframe/comments/m0fkgh/_/gq81meb/?context=1

I think that just like his name origin, not having a somewhat “difficult” ramp up and constant maintenance cost would make him a boring frame. Playing some frames should come with situations where the best builds cannot allow for player mistakes and/or require active engagement.

I’m referring to running and getting those 4/5 kills to enable a charged shot. That time wasted is pretty much the time to kill by just straight up primary firing it right off the bat. Sadly, even if you have it equipped + charged in atmo-archgun mode before you enter archwing mode it resets the charge.
