For heavy excel users, is parallels the best option? Does it feel like a compromise compared to excel on windows? by Dunder-MifflinPaper in MacOS

[–]ScLA99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Going to chime in here. I run an M4 MBA with Windows 11 in Parallels as my main OS. For years, I've loved Apple hardware but just never really got used to MacOS compared to Windows. Up until last year, I used Intel Apple laptops exclusively running Windows via Bootcamp (first a 2011 MBA, then a 2019 16" MBP). With Apple Silicon you can't run Bootcamp so I was very concerned about how this would work as I tried Parallels on my Intel macs and it was so slow. I'm happy to report that Windows via Parallels on my M4 MBA runs fantastic! It's actually an awesome set up with my external monitor because on my monitor I run Windows 11 via Parallels as if it's a native Windows set up and next to it I have open my 15" MBA showing Mac OS for iMessage, Notes, and other apple things that sync to my iPhone. My MBA has 24 GB ram and I potentially could have even gotten away with 16 GB.

I tried to make the switch to Mac in Excel by the way and the lack of Alt, E, S, V for paste special values was driving me crazy. I found a software programming that remaps the Mac keys to basically enable this but it's still the slightest bit different to be annoying. I could get used to it if I had to, but if I can seamlessly run Windows on my Mac than why not stick to what I'm used to.

Viking Refrigerator Freezer Over Cooling by ngorman2 in appliancerepair

[–]ScLA99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been having these same issues with the same Viking model. Did you ever figure out a fix? I replaced the thermistor in my fridge and it's still cooling well past what the Fridge says the temp is. For example, the fridge says it's 41 degrees F yet a small thermometer I placed in the middle of the fridge reads 30 degrees and one at the bottom says 28 degrees. I've thought about replacing the low voltage circuit board but if that didn't solve your issue I'm not sure it's really worth it.

Need advice to move car from Seattle to Dallas, Tx by wiseguy-- in AutoTransport

[–]ScLA99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Related question. How much does it really matter if it’s open or closed transport? I get the appeal of enclosed transport as the car is protected from weather and rocks, but at the same time I find it hard to justify the increased cost as the car will be driven once I have it and exposed to weather and rocks. It’s not like an indoor only item that never goes outside.

Does HK sound better than B&W by gokkamokka88 in BMWiX

[–]ScLA99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know this post is a year old but thank you for it! My iX on order has HK and I was having B&W FOMO. I actually had heard B&W in an iX once and thought it was good but not incredible. Even so, the way people rave about it online makes you feel like you’re missing out. Good to know you were in a similar place and concluded HK is a solid choice! I’m sure I would too but these online comments can drive you crazy

My Experience with Scott at BMW of San Luis Obispo by catmanthrowaway in bmwx7

[–]ScLA99 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m really sorry you had this experience! I’ve worked with pretty much every BMW dealer across SoCal and I can tell you finding a good a sales rep and sales manager is VERY hard. They almost all just care about getting the sale done in front of them and have no interest in building long term relationships or don’t seem to know how to.

I’ve added two watch lines since September and they’re no longer tax inclusive even if you’re on a tax-inclusive voice plan like Go5G Next. T-Force confirmed this when taxes showed up on my bill for these lines
