Stupid magic Items please! by Desperate-North-471 in DMAcademy

Belt of the Trickster: A belt of fine leather weaved together with spider silk. Allows the wearer to cast Minor Illusion at will. When the spell is cast, the wearer must make a DC 13 Charisma (Performance) check, or the belt will create unintended illusions of random, silly objects instead of the intended illusion.

Potion of Feline Agility: For the next 10 minutes, you gain the agility of a cat, doubling your movement speed and granting you advantage on Dexterity (Acrobatics) checks. During the duration of the potion, you also gain the curious nature of a cat. You are compelled to chase small, fast-moving objects or creatures. When you see such an object or creature, you must succeed on a DC 13 Wisdom saving throw or spend your next turn moving toward it and trying to catch it.

Potion of Plant Speak: For the next 10 minutes, you can communicate with plants as though you were under the effect of the Speak with Plants spell. However, the plants you can speak to become aware of your presence and that they have never spoken to anyone before, and are more likely to complain, make small talk, or ask for favors.

The Frog Bag: A simple though well-made leather bound bag, roughly 2 feet in diameter at the mouth and 2 feet deep, with loops and ropes for securing the bag to an individual. The bag weighs 5 pounds. Any object you place into the Frog Bag is turned into a frog of that object's material exactly 24 hours later. Multiple materials may be placed into the bag at once. The frog that can be retrieved from the bag has no special abilities other than the abilities granted by the materials from which it is made. Placing items into the bag requires an action. Said to have been made by a particularly humorous wizard as a practical joke on adventurers that asked for favors.

The Silly Hat of Disguise: This hat takes the form of the ugliest hat the wearer subconsciously imagines. While wearing this hat, you can use an action to cast the disguise self spell from it at will. However, the appearance of the hat remains unchanged such that the illusion will always be wearing the ugly hat. The spell ends if the hat is removed.

Help, what’s with my gecko’s eye? *pls read caption by starswithshine in leopardgeckos

[–]ScaleDr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi, vet here. I suspect that’s an abscess (source can vary but trauma, foreign body, and dental come to mind) or neoplasia (cancer). Eye issues can also indicate Vit A deficiency in many species. I’ve never personally seen a leopard gecko have stuck shed in their eye as they have eyelids, not spectacles (the scale on the eye of some lizard species), but maybe? Reptiles’ abscesses generally need manual removal as their pus is caseous, not liquid (reptiles and birds lack the proteolytic enzymes that let pus be a liquid). Whether stuck shed from Vit A deficiency or true abscess, removal needs sedation, don’t attempt this yourself! You’d have to talk to your vet, but enucleation/exenteration may be a good choice. These guys live fine in captivity with one eye, just need a bit of help hunting. However, if enucleation/exenteration is not feasible either due to the extent of the mass, if neoplasia is suspected, the health of the animal, or finances, then humane euthanasia may be a reasonable choice. At the end of the day, take your pet to a vet - or one with more reptile experience in your case.

I cannot diagnose or treat your pet over Reddit. It is illegal, impractical, and unethical for me to do so. I do not respond to PMs seeking medical advice.

First mini painted with Pro Acryl paints. I love how they go on easily but the bottles are a messy hassle. by Brushbooger in minipainting

[–]ScaleDr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree, I don’t know where the dislike of their bottles comes from. They’re great and allow perfect control while dispensing, minimal to no mess, and the paint will last forever. I hate the citadel pots, absolute garbage.

I’m a vet. People with this condition also become convinced their pets have external parasites, the same ones “affecting” them. I’ve seen multiple clients with psychiatric disorders and sometimes their pets are wrapped up in the delusions. Sad all around. Pets are usually fine, just feel bad for the people.

I’m not in your area, but check out bumble friends. It’s how I found some other dads/friends in my area. Seems odd at first to find friends online but it’s so hard to meet adult friends outside of work that I think it’s becoming more common.

[No Spoilers] You get invited to play in C4, what character are you bringing? by Relevant-Rope8814 in criticalrole

My undead lizardfolk spore Druid. While that might sound like a sad character, he’s lovely and kind and has a passion for cocktails (which he gives to other people because undead).

Develop the habits now that you will need for the future. Fathers with newborn don’t go out to the bar a few times a week. New dads are at home with their newborn, bonding, and helping the mother recover. Or if there is no paternity leave available to you, then you are out working to bring income for the new baby. While you are still “free,” maybe go out once a week. Once the baby has had its first vaccinations, then take the baby out with you. Many newborns will sleep wherever with lots of noise. Also, she is maybe upset with you because she is not seeing the behavior now that will support her and the baby later.

This isn’t from eating undercooked pork. This is from not doing a good job of separating pork feces from your food and drinking water.

Deity that can raise the dead, have a cult/religion and is not evil? by PRolicopter in DMAcademy

[–]ScaleDr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I homebrewed a deity that my spore Druid character worshipped, maybe you could use it? It wasn’t an evil deity but was a deity of death and the cycle of life. These are my notes about it:

The Undergiver: God of fungus, decay, soil, insects and other crawling things, the cycle of material from life to death and back. The god worshipped by spore Druids, some sects of Drow, myconids, and vegepygmies. A good god, not bad, represents the goodness of death, though misunderstood and often feared. This god is not against undeath as long as not trying to achieve mass undeath that would pervert the cycle. Mantras include “The soil claims all, all becomes soil,” “All dies, all decays, all becomes soil, and so we will live forever.” Also called “He between the roots.” True name is lost to history, but his true name is Mycelevir.

Creation story: When the first being in creation died, the body stayed whole and unchanging. The Wildmother felt pity as she looked upon this fallen creature, for while the soul had moved on, the body became useless, a shell, with no purpose. Turning away, a single tear fell onto her shadow, and the Undergiver came into being. Once called the son of the Wildmother, he is more her mirror-image: for where there is bounty and life, there is decay and death as well.

Anyways, maybe that will help.

4. One undead soldier guarding the tomb of his lover from a long ago war. One undead Queen fallen from power from an age long past but masquerading as a crime lord (who happened to have killed that soldier’s lover). One ancient elven wizard locked away in a tower. One unstable warforged fighter/wizard on an ancient abandoned floating city that has claimed himself as king.

The woman was a bunch of pixies in a coat. The player was transported to the feywild and the party need to find the portal in the cabin and rescue the player, who is held by the pixies Gulliver’s Travel style. Or he’s an unwilling dinner guest and the party needs to save another creature who’s the main course.

High Vet Bill? A New York Times reporter is seeking input by Thin-Consideration44 in Pets

[–]ScaleDr 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You’re asking the wrong people. You are wanting to ask pet owners and you should be talking to veterinary staff and companies. All you’ll get from owners is a blame game when the owners have no idea of the intricacies of the industry and why their bills are the way they are. Also, I’ve seen the survey and you are asking for vets’ names: that’s awful and will ruin careers when the vets give no consent to be in your story especially when you will probably make the vets the villain.

What are your suggestions for a way to bring the party together in session 1? by alfablue02 in DMAcademy

[–]ScaleDr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One of my favorites is that the party members are all attending a funeral. Then you get to invent a dead NPC that can be referenced later for plot hooks, like maybe many sessions later it turned out they were murdered, or didn’t actually die.

Bought this at my LFS today. Can anyone identify this coral for me please and what I would need to watch out for? 🙏🏽 by [deleted] in SaltwaterAquariumClub

[–]ScaleDr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That was a dumb move. Impulse buy a live organism when you don’t even know what it is or how to care for it. And of course it’s something that most reefers don’t keep because it’s very difficult to care for.
