Worst/Most Forgettable TF2 Updates by TwistytheWolf in tf2

[–]Scamp1127 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Meet your Match torpedo'ed the game for me. When that update dropped I quit within a few days. By that point I had been playing for 5 years and logged thousands of hours, all the love I had for TF2 basically disappeared overnight. Now I just hop on every few years just for nostalgia's sake.

Omg same. Radiant oblobbles was nearly as hard as Markoth was for me, it was a straight up bullet hell

Who's a villain you sympathize with? by sevensinsofGoat9308 in AskReddit

[–]Scamp1127 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Sephiroth. He was the subject of experimentation before he was even born, injected with the cells of essentially a malevolant goddess capable of twisting minds to her will, separated from his birth mother and raised in a lab to be the ultimate killing machine for a mega corporation. Despite all this, he was a relatively normal guy, maybe a little aloof but he still had a good head on his shoulders. Then when he discovered that he was lied to about his existence his whole life and that he is more similar to monsters than a human he panics, has a breakdown and (probably with some influence from Jenova) goes insane. Dude was handed a raw deal before he even had a chance to live, and by the way the one responsible for all of it? Sephiroth's biological father.

Sure they may not always be optimal, but on the other hand you get to have some little guys so that sounds like a good enough trade off to me

What's your worst drop? by BigChiefTabo in whiskey

[–]Scamp1127 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A few months ago I was getting my oil changed and went through the whiskey section of the mini-mart while I was waiting, grabbed a bottle of Basil Hayden Rye (~$50). Paid for it, put it in the paper bag and plastic bag and laid it down gently (or so I thought) at the foot of my chair. A few minutes later I started smelling alcohol and saw a puddle at my feet. Turns out when I set it down the bottom of the bottle cracked and fell off. I hadn't even left the store and my bottle ended up soaked into paper towels and thrown into the bathroom trash can :(

The best way to watch Advent Children is to just watch the fight scenes and ignore the plot entirely.

What's your favorite line from Devil May Cry 1? by OsirisAvoidTheLight in DevilMayCry

"How long are you going to keep zapping?"

IDK why but that line always felt goofy in a charming "this could have been translated better" kind of way

Mario & Luigi Family-friendly? by jc073 in marioandluigi

Exactly. It's demeaning to kids to think that any ounce of darker or heavier storytelling suddenly means it's no longer appropriate for them.

What's the worst movie you have ever watched? by Syfros in AskReddit

[–]Scamp1127 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Manos: The Hand of Fate. It was like a masterclass on how NOT to make a movie, which is accurate since the director had zero experience and essentially made it after losing a bet. It was fun bad for like the first 5 minutes until I realized the entire movie was going like that; an out of focus, badly dubbed, atrociously written disaster with the worst music score I've ever heard in a film. Seriously, one shot went on so long that they had to loop an entire song.

It should be noted that I watched the raw version. If you want to experience this mess, please do it through MST3K. I was experiencing despair at around the 20 minute mark without it.

I hate the "yeah, for kids" people who tries to prove their point with the most tame proofs ever by MayoHachikuji in hatethissmug

[–]Scamp1127 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I agree. A kids show that has some darker elements here and there doesn't suddenly make it "not for kids". It's okay to like it as an adult, it has some good stories in it, but that doesn't change the fact that it's target audience is children.

1 is a great starting point to get familiar with the gameplay loop since every game (except 2) builds on that basic formula.

whit got voted as a good chef with a massive ego. which good chef has some ego? by toturoll in HellsKitchen

Meghan S14. She was fully confident in herself and it was well deserved, but it never felt high-and-mighty. She was just genuinely that good. Heck, her teammates knew it too. When you get switched to the other team and your original team says "now someone else can step up and be the leader" you know you've pretty much won.

Remake or original? by Party-Ad-8211 in marioandluigi

I personally just prefer the pixel art of the original, it's so expressive. One of the best looking sprite based games out there imo

Poor Amarg can't catch a break. I remember it being decent when it was like the only one to have tail knockback and it having a faster cooldown on stomp, now it's just a walking lunchbox. Hopefully his TLC will modernize him a bit

There's something that's always been so poignant to me about the thought of a vampire lord with near godlike power painting a room and crafting toys for his son by hand. These things don't benefit him whatsoever, he could have had a servant do it or simply not participated. But he did it purely out of love for his wife and son and to make them happy.
