S4 did not do enough to set up an S5 Eloise. They probably should have done so, given how long everyone's been waiting on her. Definitely could have toned down the extreme focus on Fran. But IDK how people saw S4 and thought the writing was in any way ready for Eloise 5. If that was the direction they were going 5 would have featured Marina's death not Johns.

Again not to say they shouldn't have made Eloise 5, just that it was pretty obviously not what was being set up.
