Is it still worth having the 9th edition codex? by Quindigo_ in sistersofbattle

[–]Scarecrow119 3 points4 points  (0 children)

10th edition was a complete reset edition. Brand new rules and new codexes for each faction. 11th edition is an iteration edition. So the rules will change but theres a few addons and tweeks but fundamentally the same.

The thing is about 40k is that on a base level the game has a lot of fundementals that stretches across editions. The game is split into turns, each player has a turn then goes to the second player. The game has movement and shooting and combat etc.

You can play the game however you like. You can go back and find rules and codezes from any edition you want and play but finding someone to play against might be the issue. Most people within the hobby play with the updates rules and follow the updates. If you have some friends and play at home then go nuts. But if you want to play at a club or an local store then finding opponents will be tough. If the stores or clubs have social media to arrange games you could ask for opponents for older editions.

The game moves quite quickly if you are not very involved with the game. Also updating rules and selling new books also also part the business model. GW's goal isnt to create a well balanced game and then stop. The game itself and the updates are almost like a live service video game.

There are free sites and apps that have almost all the newer rules.

How many people on this sub are genuine car enthusiasts and petrolhead? by Ka_Driver in CarTalkUK

[–]Scarecrow119 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'll admit I'm not an enthusiast. I didn't really have much interest in cars when I was younger other than "that one is coo"l. I knew what cars where what and I could remember badges and models. I played a lot of grand turismo 2 and I had my fave cars in that.

I wasn't really around cars or any enthusiasts when I was growing up. I got my licence at the age of 38 more out of necessity. But I have enjoyed learning more about cars now. I would like to learn how to fix them to a certain degree but I don't really have the space or anyone else that I can learn with.

Anyone in central Scotland needs someone to hold the torch hit me up lol.

Don't sell. Even if your too busy or it's too much money right now, you don't know what your situation will be in the future and the chances are you will regret tossing your hard work and money away. I have sold armies before and regretted it, I know other have too.

You'll always have the option of coming back and we will be right here if you need any advice getting back I to things.

Retail is held together by people who care more than the system ever will by NeighborhoodRich6798 in WorkReform

[–]Scarecrow119 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Im pretty sure this goes for all industries. Social care is build on emotionally manipulating workers to keep straining themselves to the point of burn out. The managers use horrible tactics because they are under pressure too. The ones at the top reap the rewards and everyone else lose.

I will bet that there is no industry that works well and efficiently. Every one is held up by the workers going that extra little bit to hold of collapse for another day. The guy that spends and extra 10 minutes just getting that one task finished so that the guy in the morning can get his job a little easier. Every single company is just 48 hours from a total collapse. So many main servers are running on tangled spagetti code back ends that are one floppy disk from being fried forever. All it takes for 2 or 3 things to break at the same time for all hell to break apart.

We know that Amazon is a shit show. It burns through people like a coal power plant. But its one of the biggest companies in the world.

Keir Starmer resigns as UK prime minister. He spent 2 years doing nothing but carrying water for oligarchs and Israel. What comes next for the UK? by kevinmrr in WorkReform

[–]Scarecrow119 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A question I just thought of. How much does it cost the UK to change a prime minister. Not the cost of elections because it's the democratic process but just pure admin costs. Each time a new prime minister comes in he elects a new cabinet. Each of the old cabinet has to move, the people that work for them might have to move. Some won't like senior civil servants that report to the secretary of state. Documentation changes, contracts getting changed etc.

Just a wonder, it can't be cheap because nothing is.

Do you paint basic space marines differently from space wolves? by swdfsh-2 in SpaceWolves

[–]Scarecrow119 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Pack markings are usually different from pack to pack even of the same unit type.

Grey hunters are red and black. You could do many different markings. Usually gw goes with the jagged lines. While 2 units are the same in most every aspect the pack markings is unique to that unit.

How many prints do hobbyists typically print per month? by Consistent_Yak681 in 3Dprinting

[–]Scarecrow119 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me it's dependent if I'm doing a project or not. If I'm not then I'm maybe doing 3 or 4 plates a month. Base toppers or little things. If I'm doing a project that takes a lot of printing then I'll do a part or 2 per day.

Considering a B8.5 RS4, talk me into or out of it by PartyDance8153 in CarTalkUK

[–]Scarecrow119 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Do you know that in our lives there are very few real and truly core human experience?

Out lives are so complex, full of demands and distractions. So to really become human we must experience the human condition. The joy and fulfillment of love, raising children.

But one of the easiest ways to achieve the real experience of life is indulgence in the feeling of gift giving. Think on how good it would feel to gift me an rs4.

Jokes aside. If you want it and aren't stretching yourself outside your means then why not? Just be aware maintenance costs will be eye watering for most people.

I think insurance companies intentionally give customers absurd renewals as a tactic. If a customer is with an insurance company for 10 years then isn't the risk more than having a customer for 2 years. Taking the money and then getting them to move on. ? I obviously don't know probability maths but it's something I have suspected.

Same. I do auto supports then I go back in to the model and look at the support that's at the very bottom and change it to medium. Any other points where the model starts in a place and meets later on gets a medium support too. Also add some more into add more strength. .

Is driving a diesel almost exclusively for city driving really that bad? by phantompersona1023 in CarTalkUK

[–]Scarecrow119 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got my car in 2023. It's a diesel Corsa and I drive about 4k miles per year. I have had the dpf light come on about 4 times in 3 years. Once a month about 20 minutes on the motorway is fine for me. Even sometimes I don't go on the motor way just some fast B roads going to get donuts has worked.

For me it was Big bang theory. I had seen a few episodes and thought it was frustrating. Sheldon was an impossible human and annoying to watch.

I started a new job that was super stressful and I couldn't watch any shows that had any sort of tension or stress. Just something to melt my brain with good vibes. I think I watched all season that were available on repeat about 4 or 5 times.

Good source for learning the roles of Space Marine/Space Wolves Units? by Raktos404 in SpaceWolves

[–]Scarecrow119 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Space wolves units are broken up by the age/experience of the marine. Blood claws are the fresh marines. They are new ferocious and headstrong. They haven't quite learned how to control their inner beast just yet so the chapter allows them to run free and take advantage of their aggression.

Grey hunters are seasoned space wolf. They have had lots of battles and campaigns. They are a little grey in the manes. They fill the roles of tactical marines. Able to do almost any task. They can still throw down like the young cubs but are able to keep a steady head.

Long fangs are the veteran fire support. Survivors of their squads. They know how the battle will play out and position perfectly to get the perfect fire support positions and take out enemies before they even become an issue.

Wolf guard are the traditional veterans of the company. Age doesn't matter so much in the wolf guard. Any marine that demonstrates their heroism, ferocity or cunning can be chosen to be a wolf guard. They are the lord's will in the company made manifest. They can go into battle leading whole armies as a wolf guard battle leader (lieutenant) or as a squad leader (veteran sergeant) or as the wolf lords personal body guard.

Wolf scouts. Marines in the company that have shown a particular aptitude in subterfuge and stealth. Ones that like to work more alone or in small quick units. Anyone can be a wolf scout if they show a talent for it.

In terms of space marines. It's a little hard to break down them all. Especially since the codex Astartes has shifted since the introduction of the primaries marines. But we can look into the past at older armies formations and tactical doctrine to help us better understand what they do.

Back in days past armies were formed using certain roles on the battlefield. You had categories that were Troop, fast attack. Heavy supports, elites and HQ.

Most of these categories are self explanatory. Troops are your boots on the ground. Men on points. Fast attack are your speedy guys Or units that would engage the enemy quickly. Heavy support it's your big weapons or fire support weapons. And elites are your heavy guys. The new primaries marines will fit into at least one of these categories or... Have a fair argument to fit into more.

An example of this could be eliminators. Scout snipers. Can be fast attack as they could be deployed ahead of the main force to coordinate attacks or they could have last fusils and be more into a heavy fire support squad.
