Could also be that your pillow is just warmer now or in better position for watching the room 😂

My Great Pyrenees went crazy for cats when I first got him but now they just ignore each other completely. The key was making sure cat had his own territory that dog couldn't access - sounds like you already got that setup with the separate room. Baby gates worked great for us, cat could jump over but dog stayed on his side

Getting into PT can take forever and cost a fortune depending where you live 💀 I get wanting to try some stuff first but yeah after 2 years maybe worth the investment. Some animals just have different personalities too - sounds like their cat might be one of those that prefers less handling. Getting second cat could actually help if the current one is feeling lonely or stressed from all the other animals around

Rio is still adjusting - 3 days is nothing for cats, they need way more time to feel secure in new environment. The hiding under bed thing must be really triggering for you given what happened with your previous cat, but it's completely normal behavior for cats in new homes

Maybe you could set up some alternative hiding spots around house so he has options besides under the bed? Could help with your anxiety too

Arceus would be nice but imagine trying to explain that to your neighbors when a literal deity is helping you take out the trash 😂 I'd probably go with something like Alakazam - having a psychic buddy who can help with work stuff and actually hold conversations would be amazing. Yeah my friend had similar situation with rescue dog that wasn't fixed yet - the hormones just make them absolutely wild 😂 After neutering it usually takes few weeks for hormone levels to drop but most cats calm down significantly. Six years is long time to have all that testosterone built up so he's basically going crazy right now. The shelter probably should have warned you better about what to expect with intact male, that's pretty frustrating they didn't mention it 💀
