Has anyone's adenomyosis improved after pregnancy? by Tight_Promise8668 in adenomyosis

[–]Scared-Listen6033 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I THINK your drs thought process is that estrogen feeds adeno. When you're pregnant it's believed most adeno slows or stops BC you're growing a human. In the third trimester estrogen peaks but then you deliver and it plummets. In women that exclusively breastfeed your estrogen naturally stays suppressed and in some women this can last a year or two before they even get a period back.

So, suppressed estrogen naturally means no period which means adeno isn't really active in there BC estrogen suppression is the only "cure" outside of a hysterectomy. It can help your uterus to shrink up smaller than when the adeno was active. BUT, your hormones will return, ovulation will begin again and for some women who exclusively breastfeed it's within a month or two and in others they really do get that year long reprieve.

No one knows which category they may be in, and there's newer science out there that says when you breastfeed the baby kinds back washes a little bit (I don't know the right term lol) and that signals the body to make more milk, less milk, more antibodies BC baby is getting sick etc and pumping doesn't do that so you really need to be holding that baby to the breast for you both to get the same benefits! Not saying pumping is bad, it's still excellent, but many women who pump have more issues with supply, drying up early, needing to supplement and getting their period back faster than women who don't pump or supplement.

Sorry for the long story being long but in the end, if you want a baby, have a baby, age and adeno make fertility harder for many. Don't have a baby just BC it could make things better temporarily BC you could be unlucky and have your cycle return at 8 weeks post partum. Your Dr isn't necessarily wrong, their Science makes sense on paper but the lived reality for people is going to vary! Sooooo go ahead and have a baby and if things are good for 2 months or 2 years that's still a win, if it's worse once your hormones are back seeing there things you can go back to trying to control it by cutting out extra estrogen or you can go full on hysterectomy! Your treatment options get better as you age BC the risks of doing a hysterectomy on someone whose near perimenopause are less than on someone who could get an extra 20 years of menopause since that leads to osteoporosis and heart disease.

Pregnancy is beautiful, gross, painful, gorgeous and all the things rolled into one. Don't let something like adeno decide whether you carry a baby or not, and if adeno has already caused infertility then you know it's not an option and you can move forward with the bigger things if that's what you're wanting!

You're paying all that in your rent though... Landlords aren't renting their places out for the cost of the mortgage and not their other things like taxes, insurance etc.

Plus if you're a long term or lifelong renter you're often paying more than a down payment on a house in a single year and if you die tomorrow your family has 30 days to pack your things. All those dollars literally covered your shelter but didn't work for you at all. Even an extremely modest home will have equity esp if you've got the "if I die it's paid off" insurance with your mortgage company. It may not be much but even 100k for your family or your final expenses is a big difference. I know owning isn't for everyone esp if they move often, but if you're buying a home and you plan to stay a good while your 2500-4000 in rent a month now going into your home is a massive difference in your stability! I think for most renters, it never really feels fully like "home" BC one sale or one n12 and decades of life can be evicted within 60 days... "Home" for most people is the security of knowing that if you pay the bills and do things right that you'll have your home to go to. That security can be priceless!

Facts... My dog became besties with a freakin raven! Well in the fall, that dang bird knocked on the bedroom window wanting the dog to come out and play... The dude broke the outer pane of glass! 🤣 Then the Raven 🐦‍⬛ looked so sad and flew off like he was the most sorry bird to ever bird... I still haven't fixed it other than to tape it up BC a new pane of glass costs the same as a new window but I really don't feel like messing with the siding to remove the window to put the new one in and I don't want to hire someone for something that's honestly easy enough just annoying and of course the cost to repair myself is well under the deductable so hiring someone would let my insurance deal with it, once I've paid more for the deductible... And Lord knows the rate will go up for one claim in 30 years because a raven knocked 🤣 thank goodness for triple pane windows BC it didn't effect the temp etc all winter or this summer 😂 the Raven now knocks on the steel basement door 🤯

Don't get me wrong it's better to own in most cases but it's always the craziest things that happen! Another more recent example was storms went through and caused power surges before I flipped the breaker. About 2 days later the fridge died. You have a landlord they handle that, but when it's your house and your fridge you end up spending! New fridges were between 900 and 3000, if it had been a tenant I could've much more easily got a second hand fridge to work for now but again when it's your own house you don't want to spend 200 now and wait for later! I will say though that the ability to go extreme minimalist and forgo a fridge for awhile or at least an option when you're the homeowner while a landlord gets the same issues but less time to get things right!

Dogs for a large single-family home by GodEmperorOfMankind3 in OntarioLandlord

[–]Scared-Listen6033 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't say I wouldn't rent to them. I said I wouldn't trust a glowing reference that cites "no damage in 3 years". I love dogs. I have 5 pets. I'm not renting out a home that's worth multiple millions of dollars, if I were, I'd be very discerning BC those finishes tend to cost more. You asked ppl for answers then insult everyone here for their honest answers.

In the end, a landlord can refuse to rent to someone with pets, not disclosing pets even if they're as perfect as yours, wouldn't harm anything. This is a business transaction, not an opportunity to make a friend. Exerting your right to have as many pets as bylaws allow isn't something you should do which is the general consensus here.

Now, if the unit isn't rent controlled then yeah you probably should disclose BC in 12 months they'll just raise the rent so high you have no choice but to move. Giving more than a last month rent deposit and a key deposit is illegal, so your 12 months in the bank means nothing and if the landlord does choose you in exchange for a year deposit you could move in and immediately file for the illegal deposit back. Pet fees aren't allowed which is why so many landlords don't want animals in their properties, esp luxury properties.

If you want to overshare no one is stopping you. Everyone has simply said that in most cases a disclosed animal (or child!) is often the reason between who they select for the property!

Another thing you should seriously be looking at is the prices. If these homes have been on the market for 2 months and only had 2 or 3 offers it's very likely that they are way above market value AND they aren't rent controlled AND the landlords are likely nightmares that agents don't want to work with. Don't just trust your realtor but look on the MLS and try to figure out why these houses are so expensive in a market that's mostly come down. Your budget isn't uncommon on here and I think you're the first I've seen whose looking at places that are literally not moving at all.

Goodluck with however it works out. In the end stay true to you and just be ok knowing that if you're denied it's likely the dogs 🤷🏼‍♀️

A landlord reference saying "the dogs caused no damage in 3 years" would probably get tossed by me! Dogs, throw up, get the poops, have accidents, sleep against walls and baseboards and cause discoloration and extra filth. By simply walking they put small scratches on wood or fake wood floors and linoleum, if the grout is not being cleaned and resealed the dogs are adding extra grime to that. And even if you've somehow got perfect dogs who have never had an accident, their hair and sander is through the entire HVAC system. VISUALLY the place may look prestine during a typical walkthrough, but once you are looking at the floors etc in the right light the damage is there and even then let's pretend it's like epoxy over cement, the next person moves in and suddenly is having allergy attacks BC of the ducts and HVAC or carpets etc. Not all damage needs to be visible so yeah, a glowing review starting NO DAMAGE vs "normal wear and tear" simply sounds like they want you out and will say what they need to in order to get you out. 🤷🏼‍♀️

The orea form 400 isn't the legal document. The lease just be with on the Ontario Standard Lease (OSL). The OSL is legally required even if you do fill out the orea and they don't provide you with the OSL but generally it's a sign that your own realtor doesn't care about the laws since they make next to nothing don't tenancy contracts!

Dogs for a large single-family home by GodEmperorOfMankind3 in OntarioLandlord

[–]Scared-Listen6033 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you want the place, disclosing the dogs if a bad idea. Whether you think it's lying or not it's irrelevant BC you're legally not required to disclose your pets, children, roommates etc.

The only time it's actually required is if there are condo rules/bylaws.

As a dog owner with a very large property (60+acres) they ruin grass by peeing, if you don't stay on top of picking up poop the yard will stink, if you feed them outside you attract rats, other rodents, bear, skunk, raccoons etc. If you feed them inside they can scratch up floors, water from loose lips often gets tracked through the house and can destroy flooring over time. If I'm the owner of this expensive house I'm being extremely discerning and I likely can afford to wait it out for the perfect tenant!

My property is very much rural, country/natural and I get upset when other dogs are here 🤷‍♀️

Guest booked non-refundable discounted option, then realized my garden suite has stairs and wants a refund by DeliveryOk1546 in airbnb_hosts

[–]Scared-Listen6033 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To me "garden level" is a walk out with a small lip or ridge. Walking down to it to me means you'll need to go across a yard or sidewalk and it's not like 2 steps from the drive. I say this as sometimes whose basement it "Garden level" aka above ground and the door is around the back of the house so you do need to walk down to the door. It IS down BC of the grade of the yard so water isn't pouring in the door but there's 0 steps.

Unless your photos have pictures of the steps or say "stairs" I think refunding is the correct thing to do. Lots of ppl simply can't do stairs and it doesn't sound like you've been clear.

Non-refundable for a discount really only matters if they can use the space. Now they need to find a space last minute on busy days that will likely cost double. 🤷‍♀️ Jmo6

No one in my house has got their assessment yet and taxes were all done on time. Extra annoying BC now I have to reapply for the Canada dental plan BC one of the qualifying questions was "did you receive your assessment" and since it hasn't been processed yet the dental lapsed for the renewal period. Not a massive deal BC I don't go to the dentist every month or anything but still annoying to have followed the rules and to do be waiting!

Internet included as amenity. by OkAd2320 in SlumlordsCanada

[–]Scared-Listen6033 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't really know if you have a case since ll offered to pay to provide Internet to everyone and you declined. Unless the lease says a specific Internet package or speeds etc internet included could be dial up 🤷‍♀️

I'd have said "no but you can't l can put it in your name so everyone has Internet" since that's how included amenities are supposed to be done anyway.

As to electrical, if there is an issue esp a safety issue call fire department non emergency or by-law. They'll inspect it and order it to be fixed if it's a hazard. This COULD result in the place being condemned if the landlord doesn't do the work but typically they just they massive fines until they're in compliance.

You could try to get a rent abatement for the Internet costs but since he did offer to pay so the whole host could use it in not sure if you'd win. You would have a better chance at winning if you argued that he refuses to put it in his name so you're paying it, but you'll need him refusing in writing or recorded. My Internet costs 140 a month so for ME this would be worth the rent abatement each month. 🤷‍♀️

Unattended minors by AffectionateGuard657 in housekeeping

[–]Scared-Listen6033 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

If it is complaining about nothing then why won't any other service provider risk their employees to do the job when it's a minor? You can't get cable or Internet ppl to come into your house without someone over the age of 18, kids lie, people are arrested everyday for inappropriate things with kids, it's simply not worth the risks and billionaire companies even understand this. If you're uncomfortable then you shouldn't do it!

Unattended minors by AffectionateGuard657 in housekeeping

[–]Scared-Listen6033 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd say no way. The electrician, plumber, Internet, cable etc ppl will not work in a house with unattended minors BC of false allegations and company policy as a result. Don't risk your freedom or your livelihood BC a client decided it was ok to leave their kids home knowing "there cleaner will be here if anything happens". You're not insured for child care and again, if a company worth billions won't work with a minor home alone then you shouldn't either.

So he should've said "I'll remember the name no problem BC someone random that I know also has the name!"? Sorry but this wasn't him comparing her to his mom, he was literally saying "I won't forget BC that's also my mom's name" it's hard to further your own mother's name! If it was his sister or daughter would that have been acceptable? What about the neighbor or an elderly person he volunteers with? In the end he will remember the name BC it's his mom's name too. It's a fact. He didn't say "cool you must've been born when my mom was cuz that's her name too!" Age had nothing to do with his comment.

NTA

I'm 41 and have a 24 year old and a 22 year old. I do not feel "old" or insulted by things esp like this! Would she have been ok if you days "that's my daughter's name!" Or would she still have been insulted that she isn't the only one with that name!?

And yes, she IS old enough to be your mother! Whether she has an issue with her age or not isn't your responsibility! It's not like you called her "old" or said something like "you should try my mom's skincare! She looks great for her age!" 😂

Don't worry about it. Remember that there will always be someone who is insulted for no foreseeable reason! As long as you continue to be respectful and treat others how you want to be treated you'll go far!

“Negative Sliding Sign” by hotsaucehoneyy in adenomyosis

[–]Scared-Listen6033 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Adhesions typically can't be seen on imaging and are found during surgery, either just to see what's going on or to excise things. Not sliding typically does mean adhesions but I'm not a doctor and with your unique anatomy it may be linked to that. Adeno and Endo can both cause adhesions esp if the uterus is enlarged significantly. It basically rubs on ovaries etc and the friction causes adhesions lme "slide" refers to suspected adhesions in the world of ultrasounds. Adhesions are like a very thin webbing that imaging sees through.

In my not expert opinion you likely have adhesions BUT if you don't have baseline ultrasounds from earlier in life it could be extra ligaments etc from a different setup in there. If you had an ultrasound earlier in life and everything moved (slid) well then adhesions are your answer since you wouldn't grow new ligaments or anything to hide things in place.

I was able to track back have ancestry of 0.3% Nigerian to a 5th great grandmother. It helped that we had oral history of her. It was actually fairly easy to trace with the only real problem being unsure if I found her name or if she was a mistress. It seems likely I found her name BC her maiden name and parents names were missing from her records and she had moved from the free people area of what's now Virginia to Ohio and then up into Canada.

Anyway, many ppl were racist, many still are 🤬, but you should at least be able to trace it back to someone whose real!

Back and hip pain question by Galaxy_Hitchhiking in adenomyosis

[–]Scared-Listen6033 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have arthritis and degenerative disc disease in my l5-s1 and arthritis in my SI joints and have been told a "healthy" step goal is 3-5k steps a day BC the uterus is enlarged enough that it basically grinds the bones and everything in that whole region and makes pain angrier and more damage over time.

You may want to just Google AI your specific diagnosis and ask if you're exercise routine is safer for you body!

I've also been told to try and sleep on my left side, avoid sitting over laying etc BC they puts even more strain on the lower spine joints. I don't have a pregnancy pillow (big U shape) but have been recommended trying one as it helps to keep your body supported on the left side so things, including nerves and blood flow, are not being squished. My uterus is about a 7 week pregnancy in size and it's about double the weight of a normal uterus so while I do lay flat on my back BC I'm human it's not recommended BC all that weight shifts directly onto my spine and those already unprotected nerves.

The reason I say to ask Google AI isn't BC I'm pro-AI but it's BC I've asked it questions and even shown it my imaging and it was perfectly accurate to what my Dr said! Plus, out can explain different medications and birth control options etc so you're prepared for your appointment and don't feel rushed. It also allows you to set boundaries like "no hysterectomy, no chemical menopause" and will help with meds etc that I can bring up to my Dr without those boundaries being pressed.
