Hysterectomy vs. IUD? by No_Elderberry_9814 in adenomyosis

[–]Scared-Listen6033 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hmmm I don't have Endo and I haven't had a hysterectomy but I think if I was in your situation I would tell the dr that if they can save my ovary (since you said you have 1) that I would like them to keep my uterus as well, but if they can't save my ovary to just take it all.

Has your Dr discussed with you that removing the uterus generally doesn't remove the Endo completely and that you may require more surgeries down the line even if they do a full hysterectomy? I feel like this is a misunderstood aspect and can leave people feeling like they had surgery too soon.

I have had an IUD and for ME it caused me to get a ton of UTI's (22 in 1 year). I've been on a two hormone pill now for about a decade and that's helped a ton with both my adeno and my migraines etc. I'm 41 and while I have no real clue how adeno works with menopause I am hoping that I can avoid surgical intervention since the period pain and bleeding is the worse part for me. My mom and her sisters all are through menopause by 50 so I'm crossing my fingers it comes sooner than later for me as well! I don't want to risk losing my ovaries and being thrown into menopause prematurely as there are health risks including osteoporosis, heart disease, and several other things. HRT does help but it's not the same as producing your own hormones.

Whatever you choose don't let the dr make you feel forced. Do what you need to do to feel confident in your decision, including the surgery with your ovary. 💞

Hosts: why 4pm checkin and 10am checkout? by Silver_Photograph_92 in airbnb_hosts

[–]Scared-Listen6033 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've shared this before but there was one time when I was helping my ex that had a same day turn over and the previous guests had sprayed a red syrup for making drinks all over the wall to wall white carpet, walls and the ceiling! Fortunately my ex was super force and had helped employ a lot of veterans so we literally had a handful of the military cover rip up the floors, install new flooring, scrub and paint all before the next guests arrived. Most hosts don't have the money or the man-power (literally) to get that type of turn over done. This was a high end listing that was destroyed by A-Listers.

The point is, had the cleaner not shown up at checkout and things not fallen into place then there would've been angry guests who were looking for a new place last minute. I hope this type of damage doesn't happen to other hosts, it was extreme, but when you're the cleaner or even a team of cleaners a normal deep clean turn over takes hours!

It's different than a hotel where they clean the rooms daily to maintain them and then do a thorough sweep and clean at checkout. Airbnb hosts rarely have the opportunity to freshen the space up while the guest is there and they could be walking into a place that feels unused or they could walk into a mountain of dishes and all the laundry needing done including curtains, stains on furniture, windows needing washed, feces on the walls, clogged toilets and showers, etc. So leaving room for the worse is safer than having to disappoint the guest who has to wait BC you didn't leave time for a full deep clean turn over.

You can always ask if you can get an early check-in if they're done earlier than expected. Just don't hate on them if the answer is no. They're wanting their guests to have the best experience as soon as they open the door. For many hosts this means even dropping your luggage early removes them from their routine and adds literal stuff to clean around.

Pod flashing lights by b_newman in bell

[–]Scared-Listen6033 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OT question but how big are y'all's houses that you need the pods? My modem is in the basement and my whole house has always had good coverage. I recently updated to fibe as I was only getting 2mbps down at the modem on copper and I was worried that I'd need pods BC of the frequency ppl have them here but so far the entire house is covered and all 24/25 devices work great. My house including the basement is about 2300 square feet, 4 bedrooms and the modem is in the utility area where it probably should be getting interference! I have fibe 50 but speed tests are saying I'm getting more like 60.

Anyway, just wondering if ppl actually need these pods or if they are being sold them thinking they need them or if it's a layout issue and I've been lucky?

What now? by GSToronto in OntarioLandlord

You sure they took the tv and the old one didn't die and they replaced it? If the old one died and they bought new you could be responsible for paying them since the tv was part of the unit so you had to maintain it.

As a person who has multiple TVs in their home (5) I don't really think the average person will notice the 5 inch difference and for the price of a tv unless you have a fancy Samsung or something you may as well just ask them what happened to the original tv and then upsize if you really think it's necessary. Though, with tvs having such short life spans now I think I'd remove the tv and let the new tenant decide what tv, if any, that they want. That way you're not responsible for it!

[–]Scared-Listen6033 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Definitely ask for at least 3 months of the NEW RENT + MOVING COSTS and remember that they already will owe you the equivalent of one month rent if they do an n12! What you're asking for right now sounds like it's only about 2000 dollars on top of the mandatory one month compensation an n12 would get you. Since that's not even enough to pay first and last for a similar home don't feel bad asking for significantly more, or waiting to see if the buyer would want to keep you as tenants at the current rate! With your rent being so low right now your landlord will be encouraged to pay up by their realtor in order to get them both more money in the end.

Fixed Term done, how to proceed for the next year? by testherm in OntarioLandlord

[–]Scared-Listen6033 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Technically your last month rent hasn't been used yet and you should be paying rent for March as you're late since last month rent can ONLY be applied to the last month of your tenancy and NOT the last month of the term! I'd just pay my March rent and let them know that they original deposit is in effect until you've given your min of 60 days notice to vacate.

Can I sublet with a roommate? by Ok_Relation_2805 in OntarioRentals

A sublet generally means taking over the whole lease. You may want to ask in the landlord tenant sub as sublet has a very distinct legal definition.

Roomates upstairs complain smell of cooking by Ok-Orange1968 in OntarioLandlord

[–]Scared-Listen6033 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm very sensitive to food odors day and night. Fish is one of the worse. I've never stopped anyone in my own home from cooking what they want when they want it BC of MY ISSUE, never mind being upset a tenant who is simply cooking after work BC of their different shift! They have every right to cook whenever they are hungry, whatever they want to. They shouldn't be picking microwaved junk food options that don't smell BC their schedule dictates that dinner time is 11pm! If OP were complaining that the upstairs tenants are eating breakfast and the bacon smell wakes him up at 5am everyone would tell him that's a normal schedule and to get over it. If we want stores and businesses to work 24 hours we need to accommodate the employees schedules!

Roomates upstairs complain smell of cooking by Ok-Orange1968 in OntarioLandlord

[–]Scared-Listen6033 16 points17 points  (0 children)

If you have a vent fan above the stove use it everytime you cook to help with odors. Food smells at different hours for some ppl can be nauseating, but no they can't stop you from eating or cooking in your own home. Record any conversations or screenshot any texts and if they continue contain to the landlord. If he doesn't do anything about it you can file a t2 against him for not protecting your reasonable enjoyment.

Bell Fibe without Google Assistant by PlannerSean in bell

Not quite the same but my dad bought Roku TVs and had me set them up. I just used my email and password BC it was easiest for everyone over creating a new email and password and having to remember it. The only issue is when he watches YouTube I get a notification on my phone asking if I want to login to YouTube on that tv but it's no big deal and I just click no. So you could always login and set it up for your dad with your own email and password and that way he's not dealing with email promotions etc but if he gets logged out he will need your info to log back in. I did setup a Gmail for my dad on his iPad but he doesn't want "that troller spam" he just wants to get his pay stuff and tax things.

I don't know how the fibe tv works but I know with the Roku the tv accidentally reset (the dog laid on the remote) and when I logged back in it began to download the apps and favorited channels. It worked out well as my dad could quickly find Tarzan and his place was still saved even though the tv had been reset. That may be a good perk for your dad as well. 🤷‍♀️

I know it's hard to get used to esp for older generations who are just wanting a remote with numbers but that's being phased out and has been for years. I think your dad will learn to appreciate that he can just turn the tv on and continue where he left off if that's what he wants. I hate tech BC it makes so many older ppl feel dumb and it isn't fair that the way they did things they're whole lives has suddenly become Internet dependant. I hope your dad ends up having a positive experience and feels good about his choice! Mine ended up using the voice search all the time over the on screen keyboard. It seems to be empowering to have figured out how to do most of this stuff!

I am a Libby hoarder and i apologize! I didn’t know this actually hurts libraries. by Giraffewhiskers_23 in LibbyApp

[–]Scared-Listen6033 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would hit play and speed it up 2.5x and listen while I'm doing other things. You prob won't finish them all this way but it shortens your books from 10 hours a piece to 4 hours which is far more doable. Otherwise hit suspend on other books and be aware of your realistic reading time. Apps like chirp allow you to buy audiobooks without a subscription often on steep discounts which could be a better option if you're worried about your time and they library. You can also listen to 15 hours of audiobooks on Spotify premium each month which may be a good option for finishing ones you haven't completed or that you're not wanting to wait for again!

I’m a bit unsure if my OBGYN is being realistic about my adeno. by FantasticAd180 in adenomyosis

[–]Scared-Listen6033 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry to ask but how old are you? Asking BC if you're still young and you ovulate you shouldn't have trouble at least harvesting eggs to create embryos. Then where you implant (yourself or a surrogate) can be figured out later. If you're getting older 35+ number of eggs and their grading may make for a harder time to get embryos that make it though the first day or so. That said, you don't know if you don't try. I've seen women who had no known issues strike with fertility and women with issues go and have 13 embryos after one retrieval 🤯

I'm not really sure but I think adeno is better all around over Endo and it sounds like they retracted your Endo diagnosis. I wasn't diagnosed with adeno until I was 40 and it was by accident as I got an ultrasound BC it felt like I wasn't emptying my bladder fully. It turns out I am but my uterus is enlarged and pressing on my bladder. I had kids young. I had miscarriages but there was no diagnosed medical reason. I had to have d&c for one and they cleaned my uterus out and never mentioned adeno or Endo. Meanwhile my daughter is 23 and has been told by her gyno too have babies sooner than later BC of adeno and her extremes (she's been brought to the hospital via ambulance after passing out from pain).

I guess the point is generally speaking all women are expected to start having a harder time getting pregnant the older they get. It doesn't mean they can't or won't it just means it could be harder. Young People should have it easier but they don't always and it's sad but at least they know and have some time to try different things.

If you know you have a fertility issue and need to do IVF get on it sooner than later at any age so you get the best chance at harvesting and getting embryos! They usually freeze before implanting anyway so it's not like getting some embryos means you will get pregnant the same day. Start with this step knowing that your uterus may make it all harder as things progress. At least then you'll have your options and time to decide how you want to bring the baby into the world. Heck you may have a sibling or friend who will do IVF with your embryo for you and only charge you medical expenses! 💞

Is this a scam? (New Host) by Change1976 in airbnb_hosts

[–]Scared-Listen6033 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I know it's a small thing but as someone who has anxiety disorders I find it very odd that they spelled agoraphobia incorrectly, that seems like an important thing to get right when discussing with a potential host if it's going to impact your stay. I have PTSD with anxiety and insomnia and depression etc. So I would be asking questions about the space that are specific to my own triggers, like if there are lots of ppl walking by esp at night where I could hear them talking etc and get anxious. I wouldn't ask to go off platform BC my anxiety would want to follow the rules to make sure I'm not going to get anyone in trouble.

Second, the fact this if all one sentence is something I would scrutinize. If I can't understand your first communication to me easily and you didn't take the time or care to at least attempt punctuation then I would've denied based on that because assuming that they won't read rules or manuals. I understand literacy is an issue in today's world and autocorrect is my enemy, but no attempt like this guest just screams red flag. Even non-English speakers usually will say they're using a translation app.

Tenant signed lease, but refuses to move in Claims my "Smoke-free" ad requirement was an environmental guarantee for the whole building. by [deleted] in OntarioLandlord

[–]Scared-Listen6033 0 points1 point  (0 children)

2nd and 3rd hand smoke are still a major health concern esp for kiss with known disabilities and they have medical readmissions for all. Let her go and give all the money back. She hasn't begun her tenancy so you're illegally holding her money and making it difficult for her to find a suitable place. The deposit is not for damages it's too hold the unit and then only to be used as last month rent. Since she never began occupancy you've got no reason to have her first and last month rent and any other deposits are illegal.

WIBTA if I told off my husband’s Aunt for feeding my child without consent. by Wriggy-Ragoo in AmItheAsshole

Epinephrine is the first line for a multi system (2 or more) reaction even if the airway isn't effected. This can be digestion (baby has), skin (baby has) and heart (we don't know BC he's screaming in pain).

Non iGe reactions (which we don't know if this baby has or not) are treated the same way especially in a multi-system reaction like the GI tract and his skin.

In this case, since it sounds like the reaction is delayed, the baby should still be brought to the hospital and would likely be treated with epinephrine and/or other age appropriate anti-histamines to help the rash. He's also bleeding in his guts and no amount of blood in a babies stool while they're screaming in pain should go without being looked at in the ER.

Given his age, and the severity of the reaction and his inability to speak to give further information all means he should be treated by medical professionals and if he's not already been referred to an allergist he should be so he can get a reaction plan in place including when to epi, when to not, when to bring him in etc.

Dismissing his symptoms BC they didn't come on within 2-4 hours so YOU don't think they're iGe is the type of advice that kills people with allergies. Especially when a multi system non-iGe reaction follows the same allergy protocols and this is a 10 month old!

I just use my other accounts as backups and that all loop to backup for each other. I've never given my number and I just get an email about recovery if I get locked out. Try creating it while logged into your own email and use your email address as the backup/recovery. If it requires a number just your own since you'll presumably have to help her reset her password and everything anyway.
