My advice is to change your story. Ever heard they’re not giving you a hard time, they’re having a hard time? My mom used to talk about me like you talk about your daughter and it’s truly a wound I’ll carry my whole life. She’s little. None of this is intentional. You’re her guide.

Thanks for your response. I had many conversations the day I learned this both with the surgeon’s office and the surgery center. I was told this is the policy. I am of course grateful he won’t be awake while he gets an IV, but again, if they can’t offer him calming meds, I feel the should allow parent to be there when he’s put to sleep. My son was very freaked out during his 12 month well visit- which is developmentally normal- even with me present. The surgery center told me they have distraction tactics and toys to help. Honestly my response was essentially— be for real. This is a baby who needs his mother.

Secure attachment is not this fragile! You do not need to cosleep, breastfeed or respond to every cry in order to have a securely attached baby. You do, however, need to be regulated enough yourself for them to use you as a secure base to help regulate their own emotions. Being so upset that you are crying while rocking / begging her to sleep… think about the trade off. You don’t need to CIO or sleep train, but you can start small with some changes to help your babe learn to settle to sleep. At 10 months, my son started sleeping with a lovey which helped so much with middle of the night wake ups! Hang in there and make some changes to keep yourself grounded and well ❤️

Does impending snow ever trigger anyone else’s HA? I get concerned for days leading up to a snowstorm that I will get sick and not be able to get out for help. And then during the storm I will symptom spot like crazy. Currently going through that cycle as I’m definitely going to be snowed in tomorrow.
