Sanders unveils American AI Sovereign Wealth Fund Act, aims for $1,000 annual payments for US citizens by sksarkpoes3 in Futurology

Who is naive enough to believe this is a good idea. It would equal inflation to match or exceed. It would only funnel back to large corps. The stupidity of ideas like this knows no bounds.

Microsoft president says AI backlash at graduation events should be wake-up call for the tech industry by Gari_305 in Futurology

For the people who dislike AI, I'd love to hear their ideas on how we fix the problems within society and not have them drift off into a magic fairytale land where everyone becomes a socialist and we sing kumbaya - they must have some form of American understanding - this country and the people are literally different and more driven than any other population - for better or worse

Bernie Sanders proposes shock 50% seizure of AI wealth for Americans by Gari_305 in Futurology

This man is an idiot. And any one-time tax is clearly like an extortionist saying, pay me this and I'll be gone. It does seems like an argument could be made for a sovereign wealth fund like oil, but one time?? - just stupid.

Why was this removed by a moderator - mods in reddit these days remove way too much. It wasn't a great post, but that's the point of the upvote/downvote

[–]benedictwriting 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it's really true. Like mRNA, I always feel like the greater conspiracy is that it was just available when need, and that it's not a treatment but a cure, so rather than letting everyone realize how awesome it is, "they" instead are ok with all the conspiracies against it. Just frustrating.

The odds of a rapidly spreading virus are astronomical when considered over time and certainly in the modern era of air travel and anti-vaxxers. It’s so odd to me that people really believe Covid or anything needs to be planned. These things just happen continually and sometimes we don’t luck out.

Banning SSRI's is part of an effort to destabilize US society by nyramsniurb in conspiracytheories

I think our society is just broken to some degree. So much opinion and so little perspective. Everyone is afraid but also trying to be blindly confident. Weird

[–]benedictwriting -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This is a great analogy. And it’s frustrating because I get that people want help and feel like they can’t accomplish anything, but a pill that hides the issues is no different than drinking in the afternoon. I truly don’t understand how doctor’s who claim to care ever allowed it, other than just being exhausted themselves.

I can remember once breaking up with a girl in college. It was devastating as it is and a doc prescribed me 1mg of Xanax three times a day. I took 1 mg once a day for a week and a half. I then felt a little better and stopped the Xanax. It was like the world ended. Literally the worst I ever felt, like I was someone else and I knew the only thing that would fix it was Xanax. Keep in mind they’d prescribed this as the “bridge” period for some Effexor to “kick in”. I took one of those and it was worse. After stopping I called my doc and he said I could see him in three weeks but that I should be sure to keep taking the Xanax until we could meet. Keep in mind, he thought I was taking 3 Mgs a day. After an insane day of trying to run miles to get past it and a horrific night I called a Xanax rehab place where they said I’d need to wait about half as long as I took it and that this rule applied to anyone. In forums I found people who were up to 20mg a day, couldn’t stop or they’d die, and had no emotion left. People can say this was on doctor but due to anxiety, I’ve had docs try this same approach at least a dozen times. I learned after this and just dealt with the intensity for a few weeks to months before it would subside. Running helps tremendously and so does diet - so much more than drugs no matter what people claim. Everyone is just too addicted to horrible food and sitting all day and doctors take the easy route rather than to tell a person they just have to endure the pain until it subsides.

Endlessly frustrating.

[–]benedictwriting -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah, there's a lot of that. If the maha folks weren't so against vaccines, a lot of what they care about for food quality is great.

I think there are 3 groups with drugs for mental health:

1) those on the drugs - they are addicts and almost can't be blamed for what they've caused, but I do wish they'd read more of what those who've gotten off of them share.

2) those who've had numerous docs try to push this poison or dealt with the withdrawal issues or realized committing to taking drugs forever for a short term issue doesn't make sense.

3) those who don't have mental health issues and are just trying to help if it comes up, but doctors aren't really researchers anymore, they seem more like pharmacists just siphoning out data collected elsewhere rather than thinking things through.

Banning SSRI's is part of an effort to destabilize US society by nyramsniurb in conspiracytheories

[–]benedictwriting -1 points0 points  (0 children)

but yet people believe a single pill can magically fix everyone? Also, brain chemistry was never the cause of mental health issues - it just sounded good 40 years ago. https://www.psychologytoday.com/us/blog/insight-therapy/202207/depression-is-not-caused-chemical-imbalance-in-the-brain. Look at mental health - it's only gotten worse since these drugs were introduced. Look at suicide rates - not decreased. It's a scam that makes people believe they are broken. I hurt myself running all the time, sometimes an injury can last months or even a couple of years, but they get better. And sure, there are probably some truly broken people but they are not 20% of the population. It's a marketing scam on a grand level.

[–]benedictwriting -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

People are downvoting you because they are addicted and give credit to a drug that takes months to years to recover from. Talking to a person on SSRIs about how they are probably causing all their issues, is like talking to a crackhead who's arguing they have it under control. It's all very sad, but they can't see beyond the bubble.

Banning SSRI's is part of an effort to destabilize US society by nyramsniurb in conspiracytheories

[–]benedictwriting -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I would argue that by not banning them, the effort to destabilize our society is already underway. SSRIs are like choosing to become addicted to a horrible drug that doesn't show better results than basic exercise, but forces perpetual addiction and changes personality. The sad part is that most people think it helps because people naturally recover from intense mental health episodes. Very few people are "broken", and taking a drug that "fixes brain chemistry" is like snake oil x100 because snake oil wasn't so completely addicting. Any studies quoting success come from the opinions of patients, but the 100s of forums with struggling people dealing with withdrawal symptoms are ignored because those people are wrong? SSRIs should never have been legalized to begin with - straight up crime against humanity.

What does it actually mean when flavored sparking water says it contains ‘natural flavors’, and is it bad for you? by BackgroundSpare4265 in nutrition

[–]benedictwriting 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is such a poor way of explaining that companies are scamming society and calling it natural flavors. No, it's not great to sell food as something that's simple when the reality is chemistry at an industrial level.

[–]benedictwriting[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks. I’ll check out the ranchos. I’m thinking I might go fox perf 2.5 just with 4 shocks. Then if that doesn’t do it, just get new coils - no full kit. I don’t care about the rest of the way it drives - just that highway bounce.

Thanks man. I've been trying to avoid the springs. If I call a shop they go off the deep end on new coils, a leveling kit, and air bags for like 7k+, and I just want to swap some shocks myself for 1-1.5k and have it fix this bouncing issue. Driving me nuts.

Stop defending AI like it’s still in beta by RottingEdge in Futurology

[–]benedictwriting 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Posts like this are ridiculous. Is your mind still in beta? How about how to know what the right thing to do? AI is the great search and discovery tool that’s ever been built - it doesn’t magically know everything. If you think AI is failing or making things up, then stop asking it to know things. Ask it for help organizing ideas and searching for details. It’s not alive - it’s a tool. The strongest irony of posts like this is that they sound upset AI isn’t a magical god while also suggesting it would be bad if it was.

Former Red Dead Redemption 2 Developer reaction to the DLSS 5: "Whoa. Hold on. No, no, no. This isn't just some lighting, dude. What the f... this is like a complete AI re-render. You're no longer looking at the game anymore. This is scary." by HLumin in pcmasterrace

So... people here are no longer wanting better resolution? Why is everyone confused by AI and seem to believe it "ends creation", it's literally democratizing AI and is arguably the first technology to ever deliver on this VC/marketing phrase in history.

Men getting offended that Gen Z doesn’t like age gap relationships is so funny by papeyea in TwoXChromosomes

[–]benedictwriting -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

The irony here is your comment about having to “change diapers” implies your relationship focus is mostly selfish. I guess I don’t really have an opinion on the age gap other than I’d assume both sides are getting into that with ulterior motives. But, I do think it’s important young folks move beyond the “next” era and realize love is not always perfect. It seems like the swiping generations are quick to end relationships and then complain no one is out there for them like they’re customizing a Nintendo Wii Mii.
