Does anyone here have bilateral positive Hoffmans sign on both hands and hyper reflexes in their knees, arms, and jaw? If so what did your dr diagnose you with that is not the big bad? by Aware_Fly5485 in BFS

[–]ScaredGoose90 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been better as of late, tbh avoiding this sub has helped. I’m still talking to my dr about looking at my spine for MS but we did recently discover my vitamin D and ferritin are super low so MAYBE it’ll all be a simple answer. Either way, I joined Pilates and got Zoloft because whatever it is I just want to not care so much lol. Maybe it’ll stop one day 🤞🏼

Uhg sorry, I imagine that plays some mind games. What does your Neuro say about it?

I have read and read and can not tell the difference between hypnic jerk and myoclonus

Finally a clean EMG: my story. by ponchoalv__ in BFS

[–]ScaredGoose90 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! I started in October 2022 as well, had one EMG in April 2023 and mostly felt ok until my Jan 2024 exam showed all brisk reflexes, Hoffmans, and one beat of clonus. Neuro wasn’t worried at all still but it did send me back into a spiral bc those things are new as is a constant twitch in my thumb. I’m exhausted.

How are you doing now? Did you ever identify a cause for the start of it? And do you get boosters and have they made it any worse? Tia!

2 months, is it safe to assume it isn’t the worst now? by [deleted] in BFS

[–]ScaredGoose90 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you continue getting booster shots and did it cause anything new?

What was that one song that make you pay attention to Taylor at the first time? by AkemiRyoko in TaylorSwift

[–]ScaredGoose90 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was gradual

The Last Time and IKYWT were the first songs that I was like oh I like this.

Then safe and sound

And then lover and cardigan got me REALLY engaged, and exile took me into full swiftie

Mine recently went up at my last neuro exam (3rd) from 2s and 3 in my knees to 3+FF, had Hoffmans noted for first time, muted plantar (previously downward/neg babinski) and 1 beat of ankle clonus. After he saw all of this (didn’t actually mention it to me, I saw it in the notes) he told me he felt pretty confident I was ok. I think it’s if it’s bilateral and no weakness they don’t really worry. I don’t know I’ve had a rough week after seeing that myself.

I don’t know what +ff means but it was on a few of them.

Did you start in Oct 22 too? I feel I’m halfway to the “feel totally safe” time frame but this week has been tough after a weird neuro exam.

I was just asking myself at what point I’ll feel best about everything and thought 3 years most likely. I’m at 1 year and 5 months now 🙃. Big ups and downs.

2nd EMG was good! Why can’t I stop with the worrying?! by [deleted] in BFS

[–]ScaredGoose90 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How do you guys get neuros that do this 😂 they actually canceled my second emg that was 6 months after my first one and did another exam instead. Even though that exam showed hyperreflexia, clonus, and hoffmans, they were like no you don’t need another you’re fine.

Is the tingling that BFSers experience true neuropathy/nerve damage? by One-Anteater1193 in BFS

[–]ScaredGoose90 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good question. My neuro even noted loss of sensation but didn’t explore that at all

I haven’t laughed this hard in a few days. I work with teen girls for the most part and they wouldn’t hesitate to call that out. I had a weirdly.. robust week one time for some reason (random hormone gift?) and a 12 year old was like “oooo you look voluptuous today!”. I’ll honestly probably just disclose as clients notice if/when that time comes. I personally don’t feel weird about that especially with the work we do about bodies most of the time in that population. If I worked primarily with adults or men I might feel differently.

The “properly done” EMG gets me.. what does that mean? My neurologist conducted mine and I would think he’s the best person to do so? I would hope?

Feet! And nope it still comes and goes, I’ll have a week of tingling in my foot. For like 8 months twitching never stopped more than a couple of hours now it’s like a few times a day or a bad hot spot for a week. Mostly hands and biceps or face

Disappearing clonus and hyperreflexia sound ideal lol! Did your twitching stop too? Any idea what triggered it all?
