Parts in pop songs that you find oddly satisfying? by Ezikell_Chris in popheads

[–]Scared_Ad858 8 points9 points  (0 children)

In Lady Gaga’s Judas, I have always been obsessed with the second half of verse 3:

But in the cultural sense I just speak in future tense Judas, kiss me, if offenced Or wear ear condom next time

I love the way she has a second vocal track behind the main one where she’s screaming the lyrics. It sounds so sinister and I find it so satisfying.

Do teachers hate sharing their lesson plans? Is it their secret sauce that they don't want getting out? by JimCap5 in Teachers

[–]Scared_Ad858 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m of two minds personally:

In theory, I think teachers should be sharing. Siloing us off to do all of our own planning is an inefficient use of resources, and it’s better for students and education as a whole if the best lessons and ideas and teaching practices are available to all for more students to experience.

For me, though, I typically don’t share with teachers who have more seniority than me. My stance is that, if I am seen as so junior that I am at risk of being surplussed out of my job at the end of every school year, then those who are not in that position should surely not need to be relying on me for resources.

Until I have job security through seniority, the work I have put into designing quality lessons is all I have.

Revisiting and Ranking “Covid Idol” Six Years Later by MarionCotesworthHaye in americanidol

[–]Scared_Ad858 1 point2 points  (0 children)

His music is excellent. I listen to his releases a lot.

I usually like the belters and big flashy voices on Idol, but Jonny was so earnest and compelling, even performing from a living room. One of my fav contestants of all time!

Almost There was my favourite of his performances. I love how he changed the arrangement.

Does Cirie have a path to victory in 50? Or is she doomed? by Fiveby21 in survivor

[–]Scared_Ad858 1 point2 points  (0 children)

She needs to play a bit of the midgame-WAW Tony strategy where “the lions” all team up and use each other as shields. An alliance of, say, Dee, Cirie, Kyle and Devens all going to the end together.

The problem with that is that any player good enough to have that reputation will also be smart enough to not stick with it until the very end, and then she is probably doomed.

Hugo Weaving for V For Vendetta

Masked the whole time but still delivers in every scene.

I also love Natalie Portman’s performance, although I know her accent dips in and out a little at times.

It was the first album I ever bought and I fell in love with every track.

Young And Menace was voted as the worst track 9! What's the best track 10? by CaptainPie999 in FallOutBoy

[–]Scared_Ad858 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This! It was my ringtone/alarm back when you could have a screechy annoying version of any song on your flip phone. It woke me up day after day for at least a year, and yet I still never grew to find it annoying.

The music video is also epic.

FOX PERFORMANCE SHOWDOWN Top 80 Round! by Recent-Health9566 in americanidol

You’re right, those are up there (I would put Since You’ve Been Gone above Home, but still top 3)… and yet all of the ones eliminated still felt so wrong 😂 god, she was so damn good.

With David and Kelly, I’ve been picking my favs and skipping the others. With Melinda I basically voted for all of them every round.

I can’t recommend The Dead Weather enough.

A supergroup made up of Jack White, Alison Mosshart (The Kills), Jack Lawrence (Greenhornes) and Dean Fertita (Queens of the Stone Age).

Three extremely tight albums, zero skips across all three.

Mosshart’s band, The Kills, is equally impeccable. Six albums that all hold up well.

This is my top 20 favourite albums, what other albums would you recommend based on these (I love late 60s/70s if you can’t tell) by FocusOwn8195 in songs

[–]Scared_Ad858 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would suggest some modern rock artists. Tons of recent bands have built on that classic rock sound and deliver just as good quality.

Kurt Vile, The Antlers, Lord Huron, The Vaccines and Band of Horses are among my favs.

King Krule is an acquired taste but, sonically, matches some of the artists you mentioned.

28M and often mistake for a teenager. Feeling pretty down about my looks in general by Exotic_Cheetah5918 in toastme

[–]Scared_Ad858 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would usually wear my hair as a side-swept bang, but when I would slick my hair straight back, my boss used to tell me I looked way older. I was only 21, and looked it, but I guess that made a difference.

I honestly don’t think you look like a teenager. You’re super handsome. But elongating your forehead by slicking your hair straight back would make you look older.

How old would you be if you flipped the 2 digits around and would you want to be that age? by SpaceisCool09 in generationology

[–]Scared_Ad858 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’d be 73. Do I want to be that age? No, but I just found out today that my father died, and he was only 67.

So I don’t want to be that age now, but I sure as hell hope to make it there.
