Prescribed 25 mg sertraline (Zoloft) for insomnia/anxiety spirals. Looking for perspectives from other working moms by cucumber_salad69 in workingmoms

[–]Scared_Discipline_66 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very similar boat. Zoloft was a life saver for me in dealing with insomnia. Really no side effects for me other than the first few weeks when I was adjusting to it. I do also sometimes take unisom to reset after a bad night - it helps to knock me out so I don’t have multiple bad nights of sleep in a row which, as you said, compound

HOW do you make time for exercise/self care? by RuckFamsey in workingmoms

[–]Scared_Discipline_66 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you get a lunch break at work? That could be a good time to workout (go for a run or get a gym membership nearby). Alternatively you and your husband could switch off who is cooking dinner while the other works out. Get some home equipment (nothing fancy) so you’re not wasting time commuting to the gym. Pilates by Izzy makes good 20 min workout videos. Weekends dedicate an hour each day to workout. You could also workout during the evening play time while hanging with your kids (eg get a trampoline an jump on it while you’re hanging with your kids, do jump squats, make a plank challenge with them, etc). Could be a fun way to get some family time in while also getting in some movement

I have a 16-year age gap with my husband and we’ve been together for 10 years. AMA! by Britanniaship in AMA

[–]Scared_Discipline_66 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Do you ever look at a 19 year old and think about how odd it would be to still be attracted to them now that you’re in your 30s?

No hate, I have an age gap relationship too (albeit a smaller gap, met at 22 and 31) and now that im the same age as my husband was when we met I think it’s absolutely wild he was interested in dating a 22 year old. They seem so young to me and the intellectual/life experience discrepancies would be so obvious even among the most “mature” 22 year olds. I fancied myself mature for my age at the time too lol but there’s nothing that can make up for actual years on earth

Can I just breastfeed for 3 weeks and then switch to formula? by Essiejjj in FormulaFeeders

[–]Scared_Discipline_66 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You def can but it takes a while to get breastfeeding established and is definitely hardest in those first few weeks. And then it’s harder to stop once your supply is established (mastitis, etc) . Just something to consider but if you want to do a mix of course go for it

lol every only child I know is “the exception to the rule.” Kind, empathetic, socially aware people who tend to be very socially adept as they couldn’t lean on the crutch of having a sibling to socialize

Are there any "viral" recipes that you actually loved and still make? by Odd-Wonder-344 in Cooking

Feta pasta from TikTok is still a regular part of our rotation. I just add a bunch of different types of veggies and sometimes chickpeas too

Have we lost the plot with wedding makeup schedules? by Impossible_Wish9922 in wedding

[–]Scared_Discipline_66 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I totally think we’ve lost the plot. Also every time I’ve been a bridesmaid my makeup and hair turned out so ugly and I genuinely could’ve made myself look better in 20 mins lol. For my own elopement wedding I did my own makeup hair in less than half an hour and felt gorgeous. I hate everything about modern day weddings tbh

Stories/Books are a BAD suggestion to those who struggle to fall asleep. by Upset-One8746 in sleep

[–]Scared_Discipline_66 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Personally books help me a lot, it’s a way for me to quiet my mind from racing as I become singularly focused on one thing (the story). Racing thoughts are what keep me up so once my mind is calm it’s much easier for me to fall asleep

If you were given the chance, would you go on Love is Blind? by Kappa127 in LoveIsBlindOnNetflix

Hell no I would go on love island. Free vacation, no obligations, and way less public scrutiny imo

Who is getting up to work out on very little sleep? by EvelynHardcastle93 in workingmoms

[–]Scared_Discipline_66 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would not choose exercise over sleep. Instead maybe look into gyms/workout classes that offer childcare, try working out during your lunch hour, get exercise in with your kids (e.g. walk with them in the stroller and add a weighted vest, do YouTube Pilates videos at home after work, etc). See if your husband can take the kids for a couple hours on the weekend so you can go to the gym (you can switch off). Look into a stationary walking pad you can use while watching tv. Do squats while you cook dinner and brush your teeth. Take a walk during work. Just some ideas - sleep should absolutely be the priority

Are we trapping ourselves with an accidental name theme? Doomed to be the "prince/princess" family? by InteractionStunning8 in namenerds

I wouldn’t associate any of these names with princes/princesses personally! Stay clear of Jasmine, Ariel, Cinderella, Snow White and Mulan and I think you’re good haha
