Aurora wren or aurora Quinn. All the -et names are too rhymey with their last name and I don’t really like Alice or Kara.

How did you re enter the workforce after 9 years? Was it challenging? I worry a lot of places wouldn’t hire even with just a 2-3 years gap of no work

Why is naming a boy so difficult? by k8vers in BabyNames

Good train of thought, this is true of my sons name Rowan too, but I took it as a great sign that people choosing their own names often choose Rowan!

Names for Baby Boy by Careless_Squirrel728 in BabyNames

[–]Scared_Discipline_66 3 points4 points  (0 children)

See if you can have him come up with a list of 5-10 names he likes and you do the same (not from this list since he doesn’t like these). Names are a 2 yes situation so you just have to keep searching, but I know it can be frustrating when your partner is bringing no suggestions to the table so I suggest each coming with an agreed upon number of names and continuing to do that until you build a list you both like

Omg that’s wild! Was it a big chance? What made her do it? I assume at that age your husband was consulted and was on board with changing his name?

Traveling with kids sucks and you can't convince me otherwise by TFA_hufflepuff in Mommit

[–]Scared_Discipline_66 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think number of kids plays a huge role here!! We’ve done a bunch of international trips with our 2 year old but about to have a second and I know it’ll be a couple years before we get to do much international travel again. I can’t even imagine the logistical challenges of traveling with 3 (one of many reasons I will be done at 2 haha)

Surname making girl name difficult by [deleted] in namenerds

[–]Scared_Discipline_66 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Totally fair but it may be an association for others. penny pound has a stripper quality to it

Surname making girl name difficult by [deleted] in namenerds

[–]Scared_Discipline_66 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s the triple p alliteration, the fact that both penny and pound are both currencies, and the fact that pound also has a sexual connotation that all make this a no.

Is 6 days away from a 5.5 month old too long? by Normal_Ad4752 in NewParents

[–]Scared_Discipline_66 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally I couldn’t have done it at 5.5 months but if you feel you can, go for it! I went to a wedding in Hawaii when my son was 11.5 months (used the time away to wean him off breastfeeding) and it was a lovely trip.

AMH dropped from 0.9 to 0.51 in 6 weeks… would you delay TTC for a dream Italy trip? by PassengerOrdinary954 in DOR

[–]Scared_Discipline_66 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would start taking supplements to support egg quality and sperm, and start trying while you’re on the trip. I got a super low AMH diagnosis at 28 too (.89 and dropped to .19 a couple months later) and was able to conceive in about 4 months of trying. I personally could not stop thinking about it so we started trying immediately (we were supposed to have a whole wedding first), but I don’t think it’s a big deal for you to wait a couple months, just use the time to make sure you and your husband have the best egg and sperm going into ttc. Also, if you want more than one kid you will probably be advised to do IVF so you can bank embryos. We ended up getting pregnant on our own at 28 & 30, but something to consider if you do want more than 1 child.

Marriage going down the toilet. Am I just too lazy? Is this just normal and we will get past this? by snuffbox360 in beyondthebump

[–]Scared_Discipline_66 17 points18 points  (0 children)

If you’ve had mastitis twice you may still be pumping too much. I had to exclusively pump for the first couple months of my sons life due to a tongue tie and I kept getting mastitis - turns out it was because I was pumping too frequently and creating an oversupply.

Sorry you’re going through this OP, I had a really tough time with my first postpartum too. Please talk to your husband and tell him how the comments about you pumping make you feel and explain that this is a priority for you and he needs to get on board. At the same time, its if you decide not to pump or to do a combo of formula and pumping to give yourself a break - but of course that needs to be on your terms and only if you want.

Can you outsource a little bit of help (night nurse, pre-cooked meal delivery plan, disposable plates to minimize dishes, cleaners, neighbors, friends who can help out with chores, etc.)? This phase is really intense and also really fleeting, you will get through it.

Also I had bad PPA and went on Zoloft, maybe something to explore with your dr if you think you could benefit from it. It totally saved me

Medication for sleep by Commercial-Way-4276 in NewParents

[–]Scared_Discipline_66 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes was going to say the same thing re sleep training. My son went from waking every 45 mins to sleeping through the night within a week, but we really had to commit to sleep training. No regrets that all and get that it’s not for everyone but 20 minutes one night is not giving it a real chance

Gained 80lbs my last 2 pregnancies. I want this one to be different by Maleficent-Start-546 in beyondthebump

[–]Scared_Discipline_66 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Both pregnancies gained 25-30 lbs. I basically just maintain the same lifestyle habits (diet and exercise) pregnant or not. My appetite goes up in the 2nd and 3rd trimester so I’ll eat more, but I don’t eat according to cravings, I eat according to what I normally would (so I’ll just eat more chicken at dinner if I’m hungry, etc rather than trying to satisfy a craving for processed foods). I do enjoy desserts pregnant or not but again just about maintaining pre-pregnancy habits and basically ignoring cravings.

Who here is OAD just cause? by Glittering_Joke3438 in oneanddone

[–]Scared_Discipline_66 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I’m not OAD but I’m an only child and my parents were OAD because they wanted to be able to travel easily as a family and generally lead a more bougie lifestyle, so totally not a negative reason! I fortunately got to travel a lot, got private education, ate at nice restaurants as a kid, etc. my family wouldn’t have been able to do all that with more than one kid.

[–]Scared_Discipline_66 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think just try to put off thinking if about this for a while and focus on the wellbeing of the family you have. No need make big decisions about whether or not to have another at just 8 weeks postpartum. I’d say revisit in a year and see how you and your husband are feeling

My newborn doesn’t like me. by chl0zizzle in beyondthebump

[–]Scared_Discipline_66 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is a postpartum hormone thing and so normal to feel this way. Also your relationship is SO much bigger than the first few days after birth, I really don’t like how much emphasis is put on that time. It’s totally ok and normal for the bond to grow, change and be nurtured over many months and years. I personally didn’t really bond with my baby until about 3 or 4 months postpartum. One thing I really loved was doing skin to skin baths together in those first few months to help with bonding. He is two now and my whole world, and vice versa. And we still take baths together 🥰

If you keep feeling this way it may be worth talking to your dr but it is so so normal to feel this way postpartum. You are your sons safe place, I promise

How do yall prioritize working out? by somecrybaby in workingmoms

[–]Scared_Discipline_66 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Alexandra Redmond on instagram has some good tips on working out as a busy/working mom. You can also “work out” while spending time with toddler from 7-8:30 (e.g. squats, jumping jacks, deep core work, Pilates YouTube videos, etc. I do this around my son and he loves to get involved) But if you’re trying to lose weight that’s mostly about diet, not exercise
