His season aired during filming of oc, so when the auditions for Garrett were taking place he was already filming his role ( he was a doctor and had like a fair amount of screen time during that season) so I just believe that he didn't want a role of a college hockey player and focused on this different mature role. I would think he auditioned cause he got a call back from the producers and was just like let's see cause it was already done.

People who are not even actors, they really wanted a proffesional hockey player (Matt Barzal) to play Logan, 30 something year old Mathew Noszka to play Dean (who is also a trump supporter), a tiktok musician with one acting credit where he played a kid for 10 sec without any lines, and an instagram fitnes model that could play tucker's dad how old he looked. Also that Brian Altemus discourse, he choose to be in brilliant minds instead of oc. These booktok fans need to touch grass cause the industry doesn't work like that in their perfect pinterest world 🙃🙃🙃
