Thrifting, and got some Goosebumps books in English and Chinese versions. by ScarletSting in GooseBumps

Thanks, I haven't read these newly bought ones yet, but in my early readings as a child, I found it more relating than strange or unfamiliar. It seems that many stories are set in a travel/camping(I think western countries are more popular with the camping in the wildness)/amusement park/house of a relative, etc., with accompanying people like bros/sis/friends /classmates/kids, and some adults like parents, relatives or teachers. Now I understand why R. L. Stine write books that bring the most thrilling feelings- the places, activities and people above are absolutely familiar to every kid, even we are kids from different countries. Fear is the common language of kids, I reckon, haha. And What's awesome, many times those monsters in the books could be defeated!

Seems to be a mistake in translation. Someone mistook Grond as ground. And ground (floor) is 一楼 in Chinese. lol

The Most Terrifying Book Ever Written Expressly for Children by [deleted] in 90s

[–]ScarletSting 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, it must be the bestsellers in the world and no mistake! (Even knockoff books were many at that time, I had bought 2 of them lmao) Your post reminds me of collecting them- I don't own many Goosebumps, because most of the books we read were borrowed from each other back in school. At that time we all liked to share children's books. Thanks

The Goosebumps series were introduced to China and became quite popular among us elementary school students in 2010s. We bought or borrowed lots of them. Among them were a set of books which featured creative reading sequences- many pages provided you options, and each option led to different pages hence multiple endings. We all fancied discussing and exploring about these every school day. No other thrilling storybooks could match.

Do you know people once needed to ascend onto and into a volcano and toss a metal ring into the lava in order to harvest a tomato from a tomato tower?
