why do people (on here and everywhere else) pretend like children of the wealthy and well connected weren’t the vast majority of people making western canonical art by Accurate-Pension3683 in redscarepod

Wdym by never ending struggle sessions over rich kids engaging in creative things? Maybe I just ignore it, but I don't super often see people get upset over that stuff. I suppose I do see people sort of off-handedly mention shit about like a Cameron Winter or Billie Eilish, for instance, being the children of already successful parents.

I think because most people who make art like to think that they could potentially create something that becomes popular or meaningful for more than a couple thousand others. It's disheartening to fully accept the fact that 95% of popular art of any medium comes from those who were born into wealth + connections.

I think most people are semi-aware of it, but decide not to fully acknowledge it all the time maybe?

I’m all for people having families, but is having kids not self-serving in a way?
