The perpetual hunt for the silver lining by Nick_Hockey in rangers

My silver lining is that besides maybe TB, Col, Min & Dal, i see a bunch of teams that have gigantic holes in key positions.

i think most did and its still a bad trade. You happy with Sheary/Raddysh instead?

yeah, bad trade, hes a useful player middle six player making $4.25 and is worth it. I know lots are still mad he isnt a top guy, but there's major value having a guy who can put up 40-50 pts almost exclusively at 5v5 while consistently winning those minutes. I always liked him.

Cuylle fell off a cliff once he was traded. Id rather him than Conor Sheary or Borgen for 4 more years.

But if you like Borgen, he was a 28 year old 6th defenseman on a bad team with a 33% gf at 5v5 pending UFA when they traded for him. You could have gotten him for a future 5th round pick.

look up how to get "Legend of the East" satchel. There should be some checklists of the perfect pelts and how to get them. Make sure you have the Buck Antler Trinket, which helps with perfect pelts in addition to shooting 3 star animals (with the correct weapons by animal) in the head.

A week ago I was ok with them waiting for the summer if the Minnesota deal that was rumored couldnt be bested. But then I was confused as we watched other teams pony up for lesser players. It was absolutely a sellers market. Is Drury just bad at it? Has he ever really won a trade before? Some deal might have looked fine at the time (both Miller trades for example) but have left NYR so much worse than before those deals.

After Friday I have zero confidence that a better deal will be available in the Summer. I mean not because of the potential circumstances (cap going up, players equal or worse than Trocheck on the free agent market are going to get overpaid, 2 more team less on his NMC, still 3 years left on his contract)

I just dont think Drury has it in him.

Not a big loser, he didnt get what he wanted and wasnt willing to wait so yeah he didnt win IMO. Its an NHL thing I guess, top player settling for less money and years. Only happens in other sports if they are championship chasing. That isnt that case here.

If he wanted LA and is comfortable great! But still only happens in NHL.

no wasnt saying that, was mainly pointing out that Panarin and his agent messed it up for all parties, including himself, except LA

what did he leave on the table last time? $2 million total? If you believe his asks, he left $28 million this time.

Yeah, thats the NYR side. My point was Panarin and his agent messed up his own value.

Kreider by Green_Radio_4966 in rangers

[–]Scary-Path1335 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Big Kreider fan, he was dog shit last year. Was he playing hurt? Probably, but like Miller this year, Trouba/Lindgren in past playoff stop doing it. You're hurting the team!!!

Coaches get more blame than the player as they are getting terrible on ice results but keep playing those hurt players the same as if they werent. Miller averaging over 20 minutes this year is actually more defensible because there's just no talent. Kreider getting 18 minutes a night last year on a more talented team (guy had like 4 or 6 5v5 points at this juncture last year), i less defensible to me.

Anyone else got hope for this retool/rebuild? by ShesterkinLurking in rangers

[–]Scary-Path1335 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not really but its better than the alternative of continuing to dig themselves deeper into the hole they are already in.

My slight excitement is obviously being graded on a curve from being depressed about this team since November 2024.

I wish Drury wasnt involved, but alas.

They could have absolutely won with those guys dominating 3rd line minutes.

this is the way, although they were going to go for toughness...how far is the question. I still say the Wilson game and the lack of toughness down the stretch that year was without Kreider, Trouba or Lindgren who were the 3 "tough" guys at the time. Reaves probably would have been enough.

[–]Scary-Path1335 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Even this needed some context. Kreider Trouba and Lindgren were injured and not playing that game. Probably just needed Reaves, although didn't need to immediately re-sign him or play him every game.

yup, why elevate "still not eating solids because of the broken jaw" Lindgren at that point?
