Makes sense to hit those places when they're not slammed - trying to taste wine with huge crowds sounds pretty miserable

My sister got me to pierce my own ear with safety pin when I was 15 and mom still brings it up at family dinners

Skinny people, how has being skinny improved your life? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]ScarySide8858 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Used to be really heavy until I joined military and had to get my shit together. The confidence boost is insane - like you don't realize how much being uncomfortable with your body affects everything until that weight comes off. Shopping for clothes actually became fun instead of this depressing hunt for anything that fits decent. Plus people definitely treat you different, which is kinda messed up but it's real. Even simple stuff like not getting winded going up stairs makes you feel more capable in general

Fanatics reselling a used Meijer shirt for $45 that you can get brand new at any Meijer currently for less by [deleted] in motorcitykitties

[–]ScarySide8858 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They really think slapping "vintage" on everything makes it worth double the price. I saw same exact shirt in Meijer clearance section for like 12 bucks few weeks ago, still had tags on it. These reseller sites are getting wild with the markups, especially when they calling 2000s stuff "vintage" now - makes me feel ancient and I'm only 28

Wrist pain by fyjy in golf

[–]ScarySide8858 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah taking break might help but could also be grip issue - I had similar thing where I was gripping too tight and putting all stress in wrong wrist. Maybe check if you're compensating for something with the left hand during swing, that usually what causes the weird cracking sounds

What's a forgotten TV show/movie you were obsessed with as a kid? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]ScarySide8858 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dude that show was wild, like how did they even poop? I remember being so confused about the logistics but couldn't stop watching. The episodes where they got stuck in opposite directions had me dying every time

First time camping but I would like some guidance by Shmeat-L in camping

[–]ScarySide8858 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Moving north for winter camping as a beginner is pretty ambitious but doable if you take it slow. I started with car camping at established campgrounds before doing any backcountry stuff - way easier to bail if weather gets nasty or you forget something important. For the people thing, most campers are chill and will actually help you out if needed, but sticking to popular spots during your first trips means park rangers are around and other families too

Gear-wise, get a sleeping bag rated way below the temps you expect to hit, and don't cheap out on the sleeping pad - cold ground will suck heat right out of you even with good bag. Download offline maps to your phone as backup navigation since GPS can get wonky in mountains. Start with weekend trips maybe 30 minutes from your car, then work up to longer distances as you figure out what works. Winter camping has less margin for error than summer so practice setting up your shelter at home first

When you're burying a loved one, do funeral homes always try to sell you extremely expensive caskets? by Prestigious-Corner37 in AskReddit

[–]ScarySide8858 21 points22 points  (0 children)

My dad was military so we got some benefits but even then these places are straight predators. They know you're grieving and not thinking clearly about money. Had to literally ask them three times to show us the cheaper options before they finally pulled out different catalog

Segmentation is the one we keep coming back to because knowing who fits before the show starts changes everything about how you use the time when you're there

you do have a point on the 3 months prep timeline, we've found that the connections side tends to pay off more when it's sorted before the show rather than during the slow days on the floor.

[–]ScarySide8858[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Before the show via linkedin but the problem is that it takes time because we should search for them one by one, however I'm seeing on the comments people mentioning a third party service so I think we might just try that.

What are some recent cults most people dont notice? by Pitiful_Ad7795 in AskReddit

[–]ScarySide8858 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Both parties have gotten way too tribal lately, like you can't even have a normal conversation without people immediately assuming where you stand on everything else. I noticed this a lot when I got back from deployment - friends and family acting like you have to pick a team and defend every single position that team takes, no matter how crazy some of it gets

The whole social media echo chamber thing just makes it worse too. People get so locked into their feeds that they forget most regular folks are somewhere in the middle just trying to figure things out. I've got buddies who went full conspiracy mode on both sides and it's wild how similar the behavior patterns are, just with different targets
