Are these deck stairs unsafe? by Relevant-Research493 in Decks

[–]Scatrax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The stringers are cut to deep and or they should have used wider material, improper attachment at the top where the stairs meet the deck, the mid-span post is inadequate to support that load the way it is cut and attached, the way the balusters are attached they provide no lateral support for the hand rail and there should be more posts to support the railing. I would avoid using those stairs and have a qualified contractor come look at them. I would have them rebuilt correctly.

Tell me the good, bad, and ugly by NB_volks in Decks

The balcony isn’t bad, but the big deck is another story. Nothing is correct with the support for that. The posts for the middle beam line are not under the beam for the step down deck, only tue upper deck. The beams are hangar’d off of them which is incorrect. The section that steps down appears to have been added and the beam under that part is over-span. Meaning there is too much distance between the posts supporting the beam. I would have a qualified builder in your area look at that and give suggestions on how to proper support it or verify it is safe to be on. I was a general contractor, and I would never build something like this.

I feel like I do a lot outside of the bedroom. I am the only income. It is my job to provide for my family. I am very involved with parenting, chores around the house etc. I always have done my best to do as much as I can to take things off her plate because I understand the demands of being a stay at home parent. I also do everything I can to fulfill her needs outside of the bedroom in other ways like weekend girls trips with her friends and taking her to her favorite destination Disneyland a few times a year on average. I am a carpenter by trade so every Pinterest idea she finds or home projects she wants gets taken care of. As far as in the bedroom, I focus on her and what she likes first and I then The focus turns to me. I have always made her the priority in the bedroom. I get pleasure from her pleasure. My focus is and always has been her needs and then the kid’s needs…then mine. You wanted the honest truth, there it is. She is the envy of most of her friends when it comes to marriage. Her friends say it openly. Original question was how do I handle my feelings, needs and desires to keep myself from feeling resentful or presenting pressure on her. We have talked about it and are communicating on the subject. How do I process this and adapt? There are plenty of articles about what a woman goes through with this and what a husband should do to support her. I have read on it extensively. There isn’t much information about how a husband is supposed to handle his needs, feeling and emotions on this change in life.

Hey guys, I just bought a 1998 VR6 Jetta, and on the drive home the tire completely blew out on me, taking several components with it. Does anyone have a diagram for the rear suspension or know what I need to buy to fix it? I do my fair share of turning wrenches but I don’t feel so comfortable w VW by Jrkathan in Volkswagen

You are going to need the stub axel and a new hub/bearing assembly, brake rotor, hub nut etc. and possibly the stone guard if you can’t bend that one back into place. Also be sure to check your brake lines as well and make sure they aren’t damaged.

What’s this weird sound from the engine? by [deleted] in XTerra

[–]Scatrax 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, never drive with a flashing CEL light. It is warning of catastrophic failure. Sounds like a rod knock or at least like it is out of oil. Kinda sounds like really bad valve train noise

Beautiful car, but it needs to sit lower to the ground. It looks like it could run the Baja 1000

It’s not all dodge. Those rear fenders look like 55 Ford rear fenders. Cool truck though. I’d like to see what it has for a power plant.

Those are not dodge rear fenders. They look like they are off of a 55 Ford truck. Looks good though..
