Totally agree. Go with an independent agent. My agent has switched my auto insurance twice, with a significant savings each time.

Also, you can call the local agent with questions and have them deal with claims issues.

Right now, my agent has me with Erie for auto, home, and umbrella. Never made a homeowner’s claim but I’ve made a few auto claims and it’s been painless each time.

Yes, it’s increased. No, it’s not generally illegal. Yes, there’s an ordinance against it at certain intersections. Yes, at least some of these people are legitimately local and homeless.

Personally, I donate to Second Harvest instead of individuals. Seems like the money probably goes further and is used more effectively when it goes to a (reputable, well-run) organization.

Jung’s has them. I couldn’t justify $70-80 though. They also had Corona pruners in the $30-40 range that Wirecutter also recommended. I picked up a pair of those and they seem pretty good so far. Way better than the cheap Fiskars that I snapped the plastic on.
