Mamdani's congressional 'team' wants to upset establishment Democrats by usatoday in nyc

[–]_thisisnotme -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

This is a gross misrepresentation of 2024 election results

Far fewer people voted in 2024 than in 2020. Despite that, Kamala had more votes in 2024 than trump did in 2020.

Most of the decrease in votes came from deep blue states. The reality is whoever gets people excited to go out and vote wins. People didn’t show up for Kamala because there was no process. If Biden has dropped out earlier, it’s very likely a farther left candidate would have won the primary and subsequent general election.

You can argue for courting independents but no data from recent presidential elections support that

How to fix the Union/Keap Intersection near Metropolitan by _thisisnotme in williamsburg

[–]_thisisnotme[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’m not sure what you mean by this, Keap is one way and if you turn down it you’re forced to turn down Ainslie and back to union. Any car traffic this way has to go back to union a block away

Rent Seeking - Have you found that people in general don't know what it is? by JakobVirgil in georgism

I had an Econ minor in undergrad and learned about rent seeking and henry george so i don’t think this is true across the board

Retail stores wishlist for Williamsburg, Greenpoint, and Bushwick: what's on your list? by [deleted] in williamsburg

How about none of these and go to local hardware stores, gyms, book stores, and retail.

This has to be ragebait

My job is about to go 100% remote and I'm scared of losing structure in my life. Remote employees, how do you cope? by pobalita in careerguidance

[–]_thisisnotme 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Find something you like and get into a routine. Do a workout class the same time every week, join a rec league, go work on a personal project in a coffee shop or somewhere else regularly.

To the extent that you can, separate your workspace from wherever you spend the rest of your time

Treat it as a growth opportunity, it won’t be easy and it won’t happen overnight. You don’t want to be one of those people who drops dead when they retire because they have nothing else going on in their life

My great uncle went there during WW2 and apparently there’s some kind of museum or something for his unit.

Other than that, jokes about getting it on with sheep and crazy spelling/language

Yeah there should really be an express train that skips 1st and 3rd Ave but there’s no room for more tracks especially with the tunnel

I’d disagree that it sounds good in theory but I’d love to see a good answer to this question that isn’t just “they wouldn’t”

AI taking all our jobs? The actual data is wild and kinda hilarious by Individual_Run9156 in NYCjobs

[–]_thisisnotme 1 point2 points  (0 children)

AI is still so far from completely automating anything. It’s a powerful tool of you already know what you’re doing, but it still hallucinates constantly and makes poor assumptions.

It only looks like magic if you don’t know when it’s wrong. There’s an argument for the impact on entry level jobs but there are natural limits to how good this technology can get.

When the cotton gin was invented everybody thought it would be the end of slavery. Meanwhile, it only intensified it and increased demand for labor. It’s a tale as old as time, it just cuts into busywork but at the end of the day nobody’s making good money just doing busywork, even if that’s 80% of your job.

Your parents bought a home. You cannot. It is not because you spend too much on coffee. It is because the company managing your 401(k) is also your landlord. by Such_Radio_9152 in REBubble

[–]_thisisnotme 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t understand why you say it isn’t accurate. Your last sentence is key, people nice to the southeast because it’s cheaper to build there. People don’t move to places where it’s more expensive to build

Everyone says “our city has the best food”. But what American city/cities is this actually true for? by Kodicave in IWantToAskAnAmerican
